Dark Elf Assassin

I have a Dark Elf Assassin in my clan and new to the game.

What armor and weapond shoud we be using at lev25?

I vote dagger and light armor, group him up.

Or ya can do the archery thing for solo kiting.

I've seen assassins who wore heavy armor, despite not having masteries in it, so that way they could tank rather than kite.

to OP:

light armor sux pre 52 lvl (b grade). do not use light armor until then. Dgrade heavy that you as an assassin should consider is Brigandine without shield. as for dagger, use MainGauche or CursedMainGauche and EITHER + it or grind out good money, dont waste money on top D grade because to try and trade it for C grade is ridiculous. you will want to purchase ALL the necessary Bow Skills, and dagger skills because no doubt you will be trying to PVP some times. when you do, use a bow. you will hit much harder than any dagger could ever hope to hit. as a dark elf, your Critical accuracy needs some improvement if you will be hunting with the dagger most of the time, so look into saving money for a + dex tattoo. they will be costly, but you should try to do a raid because many types of tattoo dyes drop on raids.

when you finally get your C grade, get a dagger with focus and composite armor set. +4 preferably. defense on it isnt great, but it will be nearly the same cost as what you sell brigandine for. if you are PR get the bow, loose the dagger altogether. if you are PW, consider upgrading your bow if you have farmed enough adenas. it will come in handy for your PVP.

I agree with the light armor at D grade being pretty worthless. A brig set or half plate set would do better.
I disagree with the dagger choice though, the +++ mithril dagger doing noticeably more damage. I recommend a Light Crossbow/mith dagger combo. Just imo.

damage isnt the point, the point is low c and top D have the same price, and at his level i suspect he wont be able to afford the brig helm AND the MD, but one or the other. preferably the helm, so the dagger can remain gimped a bit.

also for some strange reason i find many +++ MG and CMG and not many +++ MD ... so if he DOES have the money or he finds a good deal on an EWD, might be better to ++ the MG!

Yup. Focus dagger, light armor and buffs, he's a PvE killing machine. I leveled my AW and Prophet this way. Almost no downtime...
