Wouldn't it be neat to have the ability to get a horse from the Pet person, and be able to ride it? (with increased speed)? It would be moveable with the normal way you move your character, And they cant be allowed in towns or anything. Also, the horse could have attacks such as Kick or stomp, doing damage, and the horse would level up like the other pets do.
Would this be possible? Would it be something you'd like?
HORSE...LOL everyone wants them and its been requested from the start of the game...but for some reason ncsoft must not like the idea >< *TEAR* poor horses, or maybe its cause we'd abuse em?
Back in the AD&D days (/dates self) the Paladins got a steed they could summon at lvl 9. Since you can't even become a Paladin until lvl 40, it would be stand to reason that Paladin should get the summon at lvl 55-ish. Before you go and say "everyone should get one" you are talking about a warhorse, and typically only the elite of the knights rode on warhorses.
As far as renting one for general transportation... level up a strider.
There was no such thing as fishing in lineage 2 before C4. There was no such thing as clans before C1. And if you think horses are for eating... wow, man.
I mean to say in the myth and lore of L2, ive not read it all or any of the stories, but i read some on the game background and never mentioned anything about them. I dont eat horses it was a joke, although in some countires they are considered food. Horses were in another MMO i played it was tacky, every sitting on their horse in town and galloping all over, the novalty wore off in like 5 minutes and it looked horrible.
LOL horses are for eating... Anyways, horses could fit in right if they did it properly, yes personally i'd rather see horses part of a quest, but then to keep striders for more than just a prize, give striders more fighting and pvp/siege importance...Make horses just something ppl can ride, and striders like a fighting partner that ppl ride...pretty much my thought on this
Ok if you think horses dont fit to the history of Lineage 2 world, then how about Unicorns, tamed and rideable?
Or some other means of easier transportation (other than striders).
Maybe even striders, rentable ones...
I think the balance is just right. It would spoil the game if everyone had access to mountable's, why bother to have legs if you can just ride everywhere.
If you have horses then they must be able to die, it would upset people to see dead horses i reckon. No one likes to see the horse die in those war films.
ETA: I do believe that adding a few different tones for the hatches (red and black scheme please!) would add a bit of variety to them. It'd also be nice if you could see what kind of strider someone is riding just by looking.
I'd still rather see dead horses...also they should make the birds rideable in c5 mwhahaha, then i could run around sieges and have my 2 headed bird peck peoples eyes out.!
I think Horses would be a great idea. Give them ww4 and added defense points, if a person is mounted on it. Allow player to attack from horse. Horse itself has no attack abilities. I think that'd balance well with the idea of giving wolves ww3 and attack power lower than Twilight Striders.
hmm, have to agree everyone riding a horse would get a little annoying at times, i already have stupid human mages parking thier cat summons on my dwarf's ss/sps store so people cant target it >.> no need to give em more manageable pets! but perhaps a unique strider type pet? maybe one available only after completing 1st class change, looks a little less scary as the ones we have now, and maybe a little easier to raise too... of course, they would have to have a significantly smaller runspeed bonus or something so our old ones didnt die out completely :P
that way it doesnt take so long to get a mountable pet, a smaller goal to give lower levels a taste for thier future, better mounts.
so do striders get ww 3 4 or 5??? and i say NO to wolves being mountable...i mean honestly they too little to mount ^^
Nope Striders are good as they are. They dont need a boost. They can already be evolved to be Wyvern and they also have a boost in C4 with the Noblesse class. No changes are needed for the Strider.
Wolves on the other hand have been around BEFORE the strider. They NEED a boost. I stand by my suggestions. Also, when I say EVOLVE, it means wolves will CHANGE. Of course as they are now, no one would be able to mount them. But have you ever heard of DIRE Wolves? They are in some legends, big enough to be mounted.
Im praying like crazy the cougar is gonna be mountable. (probably wont be)
For some reason I dont like the idea of horses, but I think its just cuz of WoW, Im sure NC would make them look awsome.
Im not too excited about the idea of tons of people moving from shop to shop in Giran mounted on their steeds. But I guess it wouldnt be better with any other mount.
And as for stryders. They need some modifications IMO. I guess I dont really expect it, but I had dreamed of wizing along on a stryder since I first heard about them. When I finaly made one, I was not impressed at all. A Im a DE and a sword singer outran me, granted I wasnt buffed, or using song of wind, but it was depressing to have someone outrun me on foot >:(
And for the love of zeus!!!!!! They need to change the sound of a stryder running or something, a stryder sounds like a lumbering, clunky, oaf. It doesnt lend itself to a sense of speed. Is it just me?
Stryder armor/weapon textures would be cool too. Get that lame machete off their nose, and give em something cool. with some of the armor/weapon costs for their gear, you'd think they would throw in a texture or two.
The ES Unicon summons once were the size of the unicorns in Elven Village and Enchanted Valley (early korean beta), but they got reduced to mini size because people complained about their size clogging up views. If they'd still be the size of back then they would actually be ridable :p
Also this poster (http://l2.ff.net/es_poster.jpg) from NCsoft is from I think C1? It shows the unicorn as perfectly ridable animal.
At least give us ES the ability to mount or shapeshift, just like the fake hero skill patchnotes said :p
I want a freakin Train System that leads from castle to castle and cost half of porting .... honestly look at all the Steem goodies dwarves have made .... can I get a CHOO CHHOOOO !!! +) " See the Aden country side " :)

Ok OK OK how bout just paying a Dwarf NPC like 2k adena to take the train ? Hehe , when those event GKs leave .... ohh man I'm gonna be depressed =(
A Mount that could ride the roads with acceptable speed ,yet when trying to enter a town or a city they would automaticly demount and mount would either wait outside or wanish,
(i have little gaming experience and havent even reacht lvl 20 yet so if u think my idea is bad then so be it)
I haven't seen a horse in the game yet but silenos are pretty close. They might get offended if you're riding one of their more simplistic cousins...
I'd suggest that baby pets can be transformed via quest once they reach level 35-40 and would be a functional mount that is not as quick as a strider, has no attacks and provides no bonus to defense or hp. It simply allows the character to move faster then if they had ww2. Mount food should be cheaper then strider food perhaps just continue to use baby spice but at a faster consumption rate.
One thing is sure.. the world is far too large for everyone to simply travel about on foot and striders are out of range for most players.
Well im guessing the new pets will prolly mature in C5 and since they auto take 10% of owners xp, they will lvl faster than striders, like i saw on my server not to long ago, i am 55+ and already saw a buffalo that was blood red to me.

They are exceedingly easy to level. I had two at level 75+ on PTS.
That's kind of the point.. they're meant to be a poor man's mount. Some cool factor but signficantly cheaper and less useful then a strider.

Right i mean the fact that these crappy healers is their only use...(looking cute.) means they could be nice just cheap mounts, give em a little less speed than striders, and still give striders some kick *** skills (besides kicking doors.) then striders keep their value as the main mount
