Just as a curiousity I've been wondering what class people think would be a good red hunter. I saw the thread earlier about a 5 man group but what if it's just one single character?
Best class to pk/kill pk's would have to be a mage. Massive dps and the ability to sleep to crowd control. Necros are the FOTM, with TP you can take a severe beating and last long enough to kill 2-3 players. What ever you do tho, dont go melee to pvp with, unless maybe tyrant.
I say SH. Necros think they are all big and bad but every necro I face my level dies the same as everyone else. But it also depends on what type of character you are good at playing as. If you don't know how to play an SH or Necro to their fullest, then you wont do very well at all. In that sense, almost any class can be the "best".
No nuker in the game could kll a lvl 1 elf unless they are on a strider. There is no way they would even touch them.... back when I use to make a new pk char every few week I would laugh and laugh when I saw a high lvl mage come and TRY to hunt me down... sry but mages can't get into 900 range if the pker is any good. If you want to kill pkers roll an SR. You always have ww 2 and you do great dmg...
As it as been already said: SR. You'll need speed and range to hunt somebody down, 2 points which SRs are just made for. 900 range on stun, (nearly) highest run speed, self windwalk and entangle are perfect to hunt somebody down. And if the pk turns out to be stronger then you, you have a fair chance of getting away. ;)
the comment earlier about a mage not able to catch up with a SR...combined with Greater haste pots and slow (ice bolt still lands on level 60s for me =) ) And the mage will have no trouble catching up after that. You just need to utilize all that you can and any class could very well be effective

need to catch up to them to use ice bolt though ;).
Taraza or not though - it's fairly difficult for an archer to get through a front-facing knight type.
yeah, and what if the pk is not an archer, but a mage?
I too think the best allround pk-hunter will be either a mage or an archer. Archers have dissadvantages against tanks, but which pk is a tank-class? And he'd have to be an elf, because pk usually run whenever they meet an opponent who is even the slightest threat to them. SpS might be good as well, but i'd vote for the SR, too.
And yeah, since C4, the necro is definitely to be considered.
Tyrant is not a mystic class, it's orc fighter class that uses fist weapons >.> And with Rabbit totem they're the fastest class in the game. Especially if you stack it with ww and song of wind ^^
when i had mine fully equiped it had:
Eminence Bow
BW heavy
various jewels
(BO ring, 2 c grade, 2 d grade)
self buffed at 1k pdef, 700 mdef, 201 run speed
it is the ultimate anti greif char, it can train ppl that train you.
it can stop trains in their tracks Sword Symphony i think its called, aoe fear which pulls whole train onto you, which u can then run it off w/ 201 run speed.
it can catch any pker.
i remember some clan w/ d and c chars in it wanted to pick a fight w/ me, ~10 d graders and 4 c graders couldnt do jack to me
Wouldnt be too proud about fighting C/D-graders :) I sometimes 1 hit C-grade robes/lights with Chrono Darbuka using crush of doom so clearly they're easy to be killed by any DD/support fighter class ^^(I'm unbuffed, mind you ;) dont need buffs to own lowbies.)
And no, you wouldnt catch a Tyrant as Rabbit Totem pushes the speed to 230 or so. Also, SwS lacks stun and dmg dealing. SR deals more dmg and is still fast so SR would overall be better, especially when you factor in the 900 range it has. Best for hunting pk's would be SwS+SR duo tho, that would really rock single pkers ;)

I imagine if they ever stopped to attack that would be a pretty good opportunity to ice bolt/slow them =P Even if they where running away they make mistakes like everyone else. I caught up with a red HE on my dwarf, who had NO haste potions, simply by taking short cuts while he wasn't paying much attention to where he was running. Anything is possible.
