I was lookin around google for info on striders, and it says that if the players level is lower then the strider, for every 1 level is a 10% penalty. Does thi include running speed? or just fighting speed?
When one is riding a strider, P. Atk. and Speed will reflect the status of the strider and other abilities will reflect those of the player who is riding the strider. However, if the level of the player is considerably lower than that of the strider, the strider' P. Atk. and Speed will receive a penalty. For example, if the level of a player is lower than the level of the strider by 5 levels or more, P. Atk. will decrease by 50% or more, and for each additional gap of 1 level, an additional 5% reduction in P. Atk. will be applied. If the level difference between a player and a strider is 10 levels or more, the strider's Speed will be reduced by half.
Uhhh. thats just what you copied and pasted from a different site. That is what I had originally read and did not understand if that was dealing with Attack Speed, or Running Speed.
btw its plagarism if you do not state where you got it.
Just to add something. Deleveling a strider will make it loose speed. So don't think you can go hopping around on a level 1 strider and blaze a trail across the land cause a snail will overtake you for sure.
Another question about striders. If you were a mage class and seated upon a strider. Is your mana and health regen based on running walking or sitting? I would think it would be based on sitting wether you were running walking or what. I would bring a practical reason for a mage class to own a strider. Best of movement and mana/heath regen.
As I have no strider I cannot test this for myself ;)
I'll have to check this out. I think it's like standing, not sitting but that's an interesting thing to look into.
Remember though, if you're talking about a true mage class then you don't want to be attacking from the back of a strider (no class does) because you won't have your weapon equiped and will do very little damage.
Ohhh, well yea that changes everything. I suppose I will have to hoof it for ever then :P. Casting without a weapon just takes too long as well. SH are slow casters as it is.
If you're worried about attacking mobs while traveling it's not that difficult. You have two options really. Sleep works amazingly well without a weapon. I'm a prophet (only lvl 9 sleep) and I can root/sleep most mobs while riding. Also, it's useful to make a macro to /dismount then equip weapon. This way you can jump off at any point with guns blazing. :) You'll have to wait 30secs to remount once the mob is dead but it still doesn't slow you down too much.
But you certainly don't want to be riding while hunting. A buffer or possibly a healer could ride around while assisting a group but I think those're the only classes that would work for.
Wind and Star striders do help a SH's M atk a lot when mounted. Don't believe me? Borrow a Wind or Star strider from a friend and compare the m atk while mounted and unmounted with wep.
Get a star strider high enough and you won't need to worry about sps. Bad part is that you'll have to continuously level ur pet to get it's m atk high enough to your liking.
