No I'm sure he read about this happen to a total random stranger in shout and was so touched by it that he made an emotional post about it here...
Duh? :p

That aside; yeah it sucks if people you partied and chatted with regulary suddenly vanish. Then after a while you see them with a new clan/ally tag and suddenly you're 'beneath' them or something. Makes me wish for them to be trained and lose their gear.

Nah my friend got trained, but it was my +3 brig helm he dropped... and yea its annoying to see acc's get bought, or someone all of a sudden just turn into a bastard
In the few days I've been playing, I can easily tell this game out of all the other MMORPGs can bring out the best or the worst in people.

Unfortunately the decision is ultimately in the hands of the player. Nothing to really to do about it it seems. Luckily I've made a few friends who have helped me out. It may be enough to keep the maniacs at bay if only for a little :-)

I would say this game is just like all the other MMORPGs out there. I thought the whole ganking and pking issue was much worse in WoW.
I think the problem with this game and people stealing gear is they forget... Its not REAL LIFE, THIS IS A GAME, yeah you stole a VIRTUAL ITEM.. People need to grow up.

uh... I wouldn't go that far.

That is not how value is attributed to anything. For instance... do you know the old movie "Greed"? Probably not as I imagine that most people aren't aware of many movies that were early in the last century.

In the end the main character is in the desert, handcuffed to his pursuer, with the money. But no water or food to drink or eat.

The idea is that all that money ceases to have any value because of the situation.

Same goes with "online" items. If they did not have any value you would not find people buying them with "real life" money.

They have value within the context of this game. Also, as people spend a lot of time creating characters and accruing these items, there is a direct correlation with People's "personal time". Something that in my life has great value. In some cases even more than money.

The real issue for the original poster is that he put his trust in someone who he only knew in one circumstance. You can't know everything about everybody. If these people are showing their true colors then it is somewhat sad because he/she had attributed a completely different impression to their motivations and it looks like they were wrong.

People are complicated. Just be glad that you found out now and move on.

Everything has value, even not financial, with virtual item their worth is weigthed in time, and the difference between time and cash items, is that you can't reclaim time with a reciept.

Just because an Item isn't tangable doesn't make it any less valuable to a person than something earned out in the real world.

I'm sure you would shrug it off if you spent 3 months saving up for some random item you really like, to see it gone next day. "Ah well just a game". Don't be a hypocrit, it's quite natural and human to deeply regret or even be upset to see EFFORT gone to waste. Effort doesn't have to have a physical form you know. (Nor does Effort have to have a money value btw.. but that's a whole different topic.
Thats not what I meant, I meant it toward the person who stole the item. Its a virtual item and should be given back to is owner. The one who "EARNED" it.

in that case you worded it wrong, but i agree with you. BUT on the other hand its within human nature to want something they do not currently have. Some will go against whats "right" to obtain it at any cost. Stealing is the same, like why do people steal other people's cars? because it has value and worth to someone. The same can be applied to virtual property.

Oh, I see what you meant... ok.. got it.

In any case, if you can steel yourself to see a movie made in 1924 see the movie "Greed".
hehe...yea this whole post was just to release anger ^^ maybe i'll go see that greed movie tho
LOL, most of us POST to release anger!!! I'm gonna have to take Sov up on that movie also. :D

LOL... well.. glad that you all are going to dive into the wonderful world of Erich Von Stroheim...

And yes Sir E... OF COURSE it is on PSP... I'm pretty sure it was in the first release of other silent movies circa 1920 that were released for the initial introduction of the PSP.

edit: Interesting enough you can also find it packaged along with the 1987 classic, "Harry and the Hendersons".
MMM Harry and the Hendersons great movie when i was a kid ^^

This game is like version of thr RL only with swords and daggers.. and elves.. and midgets with the strenght of hulk holgoan on his diet of steroids... true to be said I hate it when it happens since theres no reason to be an *** just beacuse you have a clan.. I have a clan and Imnot in the AC training have the place to any person...but in the end is all choices we players make...
