auction house~capes

This is how I look at it, there are so many bots and farmers in this gaming world of l2, I've been playing for 2 years now and it hasn't changed much. The bots basically control the economy, and the only reasonable way to counter this is by putting an auction house in every city so players can buy and sell their stuff cheaper, and not have to set up so many stores (exampleL: look at giran and dion) besides all of that it would be so much easier to find what you're looking for. Will it ever come to pass? If at all possible I'd like to see an auction house and also think it would benefit everyone. Please someone who is in charge of lineage 2 interface read this and do something about it.

and the second thing is cloaks and capes!!! there has been a slot for such an item since as long as I can remember. Why not make cloaks and capes an item, if for nothing else, use it to boast a clan emblem on it or logo, or maybe mdef or pdef...etc. come on guys

lmao I always knew the farmer argument could be used for anything, and this about proves it.
This issue has been up on the board in different threads for long now.
I think we have to accept that the private shop idea is here to stay. There is a good side of it too and that is that you can barge on the price more easily.

But making the shops transparent would be a good idea since LineageII characters can’t jump ;)
I hate getting stuck after logging in and the shops spawns around you.

Game server doesn't block you from running over shops. It's client that blocks you.
If you make re log, for a time shops are loaded to your client, you can run through them (you don't see them, you don't know about them, so you run through easily).

Nevertheless, offline trading should be possible. Be it log-off shop, auction house or something else - doesn't matter. Many people have no traffic limits and ability to keep computer on 24/7. But it's not the case for everyone.
For some people traffic costs more than adena in black market. That is, to be legit you have to spend MORE real life money than for being unlegit (without any benefits in game for you).
For example, it's not uncommon in Russia to has been charged $0.5 per hour of online connection. It's just $5-$10 per day of trading. Just a simple fact - you don't always win a million over day of trading.

Staying online for being in shop modes is just ridiculous game restriction that yet again hinders legit players.
People have this idea that having an auction house will make things cheaper. Nothing could be further from the truth.

For instance... let's say that I see an item for 2 million and then see the same item for 1.7 million?

Well.. what am I going to do?

I'm going to buy the 1.7 million items and sell it for 1.9

So sure.... I don't like the auction house idea because the current system adds to the idea of a bustling, busy city. However... I am not going to scream about it because it would make my life easier to buy low and sell high. Not highway robbery... but what the market will allow.

As far as cloaks? Uh... sure.... why not, whatever... I know people love them. Some also love helmets... some don't. I personally like High concept well designed items. So, as long as we have a choice to show/not show them, fine with me.

C5 is coming.

Remember... C5 is the single most interesting chronicle because we have absolutely no idea what it will contain. This is the very first time this has happened.

We have been aware that S grade items were coming since prelude. We knew that the hero system was coming since... hmmm.. latest the start of C3 (maybe even C2).

So anything can happen. Anything. Quite frankly.. .for me, it is the "make or break" chronicle. So perhaps you will get your cape wish.
Things will become cheaper.

Because a 10x times more stuff will be traded there. Right now, you have to sell 90% of your non-mats drops to NPC shop, because it's easier to sell it there, than to sell it in afk shop with 4 slots. With auction ppl will actually be trading. Prices will align themselves and float around the current market price.

There'll be no scamers. Just allow to sell not more than hundred items at once to avoid monopoly etc.
It might get rid of (or at least negate) scammers... that is true... but it won't stop people from buying up as many items as they can and sell them at prices that the market will allow.

If I see an item that is "hot" and I see that it is selling at "x price" but that there are several shops that are selling it lower, I will buy all of them and sell it at the higher price.

Now imagine more "business minded" people who do this. I'm not saying it will drive the prices up but it will make it easier to find all the items in one place so that players can corner the market.

You don't believe me? lol.. no worries. Let NC make an auction house. I will profit on it and have absolutely no complaints. ;)

I don't mind if prices will raise up to market price. It's ok. Noone has unlimited resources though, noone will be able to monopolise market for a long time if there is steady supply for the item.

Right now we have not market, but bazaar. It's quite interesting, but higher price doesn't mean you'll sell something later than concurrent seller with lower price. It's all about where to sit, how to shout, how to attract person etc.
Unfortunately it's a bit too much avobe expectations of general adventurer.
Needless to say you have to actively monitor the activity on your sell shop. It's really hard to sell 100 enchant scrolls, for example.
It's hard to sell key mats as well. Even worse - nearly impossible. Only few mat types can be sold for reasonable price. It's hard to buy them for reasonable price as well.
It's exactly the situation described in Economics or any other economical educational literature.
I would imagine, if they were to make an auction-house type thing, that they would limit it to the same 3-5 items that we have now.

The devs designed the financial system quite carefully. They put in elements to limit its efficiency; I have to think for a well-motivated (even if perhaps misguided) reason.

Myself, I picked up an overenchanted top-d weapon for 2mil the other day. I like inefficiency!

Well... of course you are correct. There have been several times that I found items that were hot but that were selling for a "lesser" amount, only for me to buy a huge amount of them and realize that they were still coming.

In those instances, I just hold on to them until I see none around and then put them on sale. I suppose that that is the balance that we play when we play the market.

People are paying a billion adena for clan houses. People are demanding that the price cap for them get raised. Some people out there have near limitless resources. They very well could monopolize certain items quite easily.
It doesn't mean that people have to buy the item if its posted at a ridiculous starting bid.

I can't imagine anyone cornering the commodities markets because there are just too many materials in the system. The real concern would be the gear markets but the problems you're describing already occur so I don't see how the auction house would make it any worse other then to make sure that the profit goes to the orginal item owner rather then being divied out to a few more distributors.

To really debate this we need to determine what is meant by auction house. Are we talking actual auctions or more of an offline trading vendor that simply offers items at stated prices?

If its an actual auction then prices should move to the maximum supportable by the server fairly quickly. Auctions don't move as quick though so the days of just picking up a few pieces of iron ore and a couple stones of purity to finish crafting something would be over. Good deals could not really be snatched up and more people would have the opportunity to purchase the gear.

If its just an NPC which lists off the items that would have been in player shops then it wouldn't really impact the economy much at all other then to make it easier to find what you're looking for and compare prices. It would be functionaly equivalent of the current system except open up more connections for people that want to actively play rather then sit in shopmode.

The main concern for me is active play rather than sit in shop mode.

But ideal auction house can handle both situations easily.
For example, you can set start bid, auction time and sell-out price (in addition to bandle sell option).
In case sell-out price is equal to start bid, you have selling NPC option (no bundle means you can buy only a fraction of items from the slot).
In case of ridiculously high sell-out price - auction.

There can be a limit on number of bandles you sell through auction - equal to current one.
