Quoted for truth. Based on what he said, I'd say LostGrace doesn't have a clue about summoners, which is pretty sad if you look at his .sig.
There is no "best" way to go. The different summoners have a variety of different strengths and weaknesses based on their equipment and playstyle, along with which of their serveral summons and cubics they have out that particular moment.
Do you want kittens, unicorns, or phantoms? That's really the key question now.
A secondary question is "do you want to have a little bit of nuking or none at all?" ;)
Yeah, best thing about summoners is that they are probably more a more equal genre of class between them than any other genre of class. It really depends on fickle things like summon preference ^.^
Which is the best way to go? human, le, or de.
I seen the unicorns do aoe magic...do they all do this?
which way should i go?
Not a matter of which summoner is best, more like which one is ur style.
Say like I am a Warlock, slow but powerful. I got highest CON compared to the others. I can set myself up much like a SK using blunt HP up and shield + binding cubic to hold my own. My servitors, except Kat, are pretty fast and great at pulling mobs to me, cause im too lazy to run to them. Kai 242 run speed is like a servitor missile to send after fast classes such as SR/PWs.
I am sure others have their reasons why they took PS or ES. They each have their own unique strengths and weaknesses.
i really dont know which sumoner is the best and i doubt if one of summoners is stronger.
But i have an ES and the only think that i can say is that i love it :) Summoners have very different play style from the other classes, You can solo excellent also at c4 have nice skills for group. I tested the mass aqua and it is great.
in conclusion as many mights said before just choose between cats , unicorns or shadows.Every summoner has something different/great skill
yeah, the only real difference in the summoners (outside of necro, who is a hybrid and doesn't count) is the summons themselves, the unique cubics each get, and the one unique summon buff each gets.
warlocks, for instance, get binding (para) cubic and storm (weak windstrike) cubic. we also get summon windwalk. this brings Kat's run speed to something tolerable when solo. Kai has dmage reflect skill, and now is a fair bit stronger than Kat and much much faster (I've maxed him out at 250 with ww2 and 'zerk, nothing can run away from that). however, he is physically frailer than Kat, and costs c crystals now in c4. howeever, he only takes 10% of your xp vs 30% for Kat. Mew is 90% xp, and has stats somewhat between Kat and Kai. she also has a fairly weak aoe nuke. eventually I'll also get Queen the Cat, a 5% xp summon for parties. much lower stats than any of my other cats, she casts pattk and crit boosting buffs.
as a word of warning. thanks to c4 we finally got beast soulshots to bring our summons damage up to par. however, spamming beast soushots and spamming soulshots yourself is a very fast way to go broke. we're talking like 30k to 50k adena in shots alone per 20 minutes, plus 6k to 15k in d or c crystals, plus any other consumables.
Just any FYi you can make money spamming all shots. i have not tried it w/ cubics. but on whites you can make money. barely.
One thing that few people seem to know is that since C4 the Ps is a viable healer now. that's right a healer. Since C4 came out most of my hunting has been group based with me as the only healer and sometimes as the tank. It's a real change from the normal restrictions of the PS as opposed to other summoners.
ES lean a bit more towards PvP because they selfcast empower3, giving their pvp pony (singletarget nuke) an extreme pwoerful edge, as long as the other summoners do not have a SE at their disposal. They are also able to AOE nuke better as mages in c4 because they do not have a 20 mob limit. At around 70 you will be able to 2-3 hit mobs in AB, allowing you to duo out there.
Then again Warlock has a nice cubic for pvp that paralize. ES is well equipped for pvp, but that doesn't make the other summoner classes bad at it.
That's very true. A couple of days ago we went to ToI 5 without a healer. Risky business but we decided to try. Nightshade heals kept us going as long as tanks (three ;P) had mana for hates. Which was almost non stop considering the number of tanks. Mind you the mobs there were pink to highest level in party.
so really...i just pick one that i think looks the coolest?
i'm not really making one for PvP...just for something different to hunt with. I think i'll go ES...the water looking unicorn is cool looking...
I had a thread (2 actually...1 was back during C3 however) concerning summoners, mainly just the Phantom Summoner however. If you can find the most recent one, it may be helpful for you as far as deciding on tattoos, gear, and playstyle. But other then that, like what has been mentioned many times, it's all a personal preference.
as a side note: the ES and the Warlock (is there an abbreviation for Warlock?) both have summons that recharge their masters mp. the PS does not. instead, the PS has a summon with inbuilt vr.
also, each summoner has different cubic, storm and binding for warlocks, life and aqua(?) for ES and not sure about the PS. plus, each summoner has 1 special servitor buff. warlock is servitor ww, ES is servitor empower, and PS is servitor might which should give you a clue about the playstyles of each class. :)
