The subject of today's experiment is to see what a BD is like in Plate Leather Set.
In about 3 days my hardworking Palus Knight will be a Blade Dancer. Yes, I know that FP is the armor that I SHOULD use, but I am still quite a few mats short of crafting the full FP set. I can just borrow the PL set from my Hawkeye for now and see how it works in groups. The weapon that I will be using is +4 Dual Raids (I'll try to OE them later), and I will have access to level 1 Vamp Rage courtesy of my two-box SO when I solo.
Hypothesis/predictions/suggestions anyone? How far can I level in PL without it becoming too horrendous?
Actually, I can speak from experience on this one. A friend of mine went with the glass cannon build on his BD, went PL set and duals with focus. He also went +Str -Con tats. He ended up with very low HP, very low stun resist, but he hit like a sledgehammer. With VR he never ever lost HP in PVE, and I saw him kill some pretty serious PVP classes rather quickly. Without VR, he pulled agro from other party members because of insane damage and ended up chugging pots to save his life. And if he ever got stunned...it was all over. Remember, mobs have a crazy land rate for stun as is, and DE's have low con to start out with. All in all I think this is a more interesting build for a BD, though not without its serious risks.
More dmg per swing - better economy for you. If you have have vr2+haste1/dw/focus buffs (and you own fire) i suppose you won't have any problems (save some stuns). In short PL is good all around DD armor.

HINT: get a cheap crystal staff w/ BtB.
the BtB buff from it only activates if you are casting a buff through magic (not a skill like attack aura or defense aura). Though I can't say I ever tried using that on a melee class before, but I think thats how it works.-
It doesnt hurt you, since SP is easy to get, so get the masteries. Thus you can use heavy or light if you so want, but will have the masteries already.

well you are wrong so:
i'd not advise smth unless i have tested. (which i did! even w/ rapid shot.. thanks god TH has a self buff!!). There is a little trick though.
it's changed... it works. go go olympiad w/ fearsome btb5 + focus +mental shield for archers!

Did you test that in c4? From my testings in c3 and c4 pts, they changed the trigger alot. In c3 all physical self buffs would trigger the SA (like rapidshot), but magical wont(attack, defense aura). At least at c4 pts it worked like i should, rapid shot did not trigger it, but magical self buffs did trigger it. That said, every noble gets a magic buff (nobless buff) which can be used to trigger weapon SAs. But given the low trigger rate of some, you'd need some luck to get BtB and Focus.
