Yay!
I am not going to reveal my secret lol (at the risk of having all sorts of people telling me how my noobie technique is cr#p!) lol but I have gone on a whole row of successful raids lately. Started with some organized by others, and continued with some organized by a group of friends. When you get them organized yourself with friends, they can turn out to be more stressful and requiring more involvement to get them together, but also the rewards are very good in terms of personal satisfaction. You truly learn about what works and what does not and it makes more sense to trust your character's life to a friend.
Additionally, a player (new I might add) recognized me from the boards and thought I was famous! I could not help but smile. I whispered: "oh no, I only post to reveal and make evident my noobie status, and possibly get help if I need it!"
This player replied to keep it up bc it was interesting to read my noobie "misfortunes" lol ... so I decided I would keep it up.
For those of you noobs, lets just say that I quit Heretics for a while bc I got tired of all the griefing going on in there and I have discovered other hunting spots. My loosing gear there recently as a result of a train, was the straw that broke the camel's back and I have needed a break from it, or I was going to quit for sure. That is how I have discovered other things to do... also, there was one terrible raid where I died too much to recall, being a wizard, you can imagine how I got aggro if there was no one that could maintain hate in the party. I think that would be my only advice to noobs. If you decide to venture out and try a raid, make sure you have a true tank in party with hate skill or aggression and carry plenty of pots for sticky situations. Learn as you go along...
Thank you Quay... you are too kind. There are all kinds of fame int his game though... anyone has their names written down for Pkers, griefers, good raiders, friends, kind people... I guess being a famous noob is not that bad!!!!! :D
Ooops...I'm almost embarassed to say this but I think that player might have been me... I recognized you and thought I would encourage you to keep writing. I think informative and funny posts like yours are both interesting as well as helpful for other beginners. I'm not exactly a real newbie myself but I'm a casual player and still recognize much of your adventures :)
Regarding raids and noobie misfortuntes, you're not alone. My reroll went on his first successful raid yesterday. The group managed to bring down two bosses in less than an hour and it was great fun
The day before that I went on my first raid hunt ever. Laughably, it all ended in patethic defeat! We tried to kill the Soul Scavenger in RoA. The minions died fairly easy but the boss itself was impossible for us. His HP regenerated faster than we could hurt him. Also, the minions kept respawning and made all sorts of troubles for us. Finally we had to flee head over heals all the way back to Gludin with the boss chasing after us. We were shouting for help as we got to Gludin but suddenly the boss just disappeared. Almost an hour of work for nothing. Not my proudest moment maybe, but I was laughing so much while we were fleeing. So even if it was a complete defeat it was definately worth it :D
Now I'm almost a "raid addict" and I think it definately beats grinding in a cata or necro. I suggest that anyone who is bored of grinding should try it. If you're in your 20-40's go to Dion and join a raid party. Definately worth it!
hey sillena i did a couple raids with you (i think at least lol, pretty sure it was you) before and yeah, that was fun. too bad more people cant get good raids together (and too bad theres a bad reputation for people gettin scammed outter raids...)
