What server should I start on? (New player, want a populated server)
What level is it impossible to solo at?
Any pointers for a new player? Would be greatly appreciated
I need to actually do some work now so I can't go into detail.
First.. welcome to the game.. please understand what this game is about.. open pvp, scamming is allowed etc. It's not "chaotic chronicles" for nothign.
Each server has a server personality post so look at that. When you sign in you will see indications of which servers have more people.
Some classes can solo (well.. most can solo at lower lvls) but as you get up in lvls there are classes that shine in soloing... Spellhowler is one. Great soloer. I will leave the rest to others.
Server: pick any. If you like roleplaying, choose Lionna. Otherwise they're all just as good, imo.
Impossible to solo depends on class. A Spellhowler solo better than a Bishop. You can probably solo all the way to 75 if you wanted.
Pointers... don't ebay even though it may seem everyone has better equipment than you. There are good ways to make money in L2. Especially from the people who do ebay and are a bit more careless with their money.
- Do quests. Every mob you kill should have a quest related with it.
- Manor. Never tried it myself (have enough adena), but apparantly it's good.
- Buy low, sell high. Once you aquire your first million it'll be easier to make more money this way.
1. All servers are decently to wery high populated, but on all servers starter areas and almost empty, dont let this to get you discuraged. if you would like euro times then go Teon, but it has been too full latey, people complain about not being able to log in. ALsso Barts and Kain, I think are highly populated. It's also good to base your's desigion on ping, the less the better.
2. It'se based on class, some clases find it realy to solo in high 30's and 40's but others can go mostly solo up to 75.
3. Decide what you whant to be and level that toon first to lvl 5 so it can get beginer benefits. do all quest which you can find in your's starter location, some of them give realy good rewards. If you got some other char youdisliced after lvl 5 but didnt got alot of money on it to transfer to new char then you will be better of to transfer to new server to get the new character bonuces as well.
Swords High CleriK!
Welcome to Lineage II and the forums. Let us know what server you decided to roll too and perhaps we can get you in touch with some decent people to help you get started.
Ahhh, Welcome! This is the Best game, though it is also the toughest. You have to be good to really excell here, it is a dog-eat-dog world and the best survive!
I think you are on the right track chosing a character that you enjoy, don't fall into the trap of choosing one that seems strong or popular. I am a bit of a contrarian, I prefer classes which very few other people play.
There are many classes to choose. You may also try to play a tank class they should solo well. Gladiators and Shillien Knights also have good attack skills.
I'm not sure if there is a top 5 anymore. Since sub classes became available the once "rare classes" aren't that rare anymore.
Classes that are "less popular": Paladin, Temple Knight (?), Sword Singer, Shillien Knight, Orcs (?), Dwarfs (as main char).
What's funny is that for a new player you have an account almost a year old. In fact i bet if you look on lionnna you'll find you have a lvl 3X human wiz who's on my friends list.
I played this a whilwe ago, never got past level 16 I think it was... And when I did hit 16, this high level dude was heping me, so I never got to learn anything.
I been with MMO's for 11 years now, first being The Realm and last being WoW... Bought RF online to see that its Lineage 2 except it sucks. L2 really grabbed my attention back in the day and continues to deliver new content. The long term seems there unlike other games, and I love PvP...
I had a few questions for end -game and random stuff... Why do people say theres no PvE in this game? Whenever I look up bosses, theres like 7282 HUGE bosses that look mad cool. That seems like raid content outside of PvP, hence PvE... r do those bosses play a very small role in gameplay... Do they drop loot?
I love PvE and PvP and this game look sto me to have both. Maybe not like WoW PvE where you raid dungeons 24/7, but its there.
Also, due to the huge grind in this game (not a bad thing)I dont want to screw around with a few classes ya know? Like get to 15, and then decide I wanna be something else.
Seems like all the melee classes are similar, I might be wrong. I wanna be able to solo and at the same time enjoy my class. I never liked casters. I like either ranged classes like a hunter or a strong melee class. Strong melee I mean dmg wise.
Since there is virtually no low level players, it seems impossible to play classes that cant solo. <shrug> might be wrong again.
Any pointers would be much appreciated because the game is almost done DLing! :P
Actually, this game has a lot of PvE which is puncuated by pvp (the PvE is FOR the PvP as that is how you get stronger).
Yeah.. RF does look like L2 in space. Have the no shame.
Most classes can solo at the start but at higher lvls it becomes more difficult for some of them. Which is the reason you find many melee soloing much lower lvl mobs at higher lvls for less downtime.
Heck... without buffs I can 2 shot greens and often do... the xp can be ok (especially in the new areas) and there is little downtime because I play a Spellhowler.
With buffs I can 2 shot some whites so if I can grab the approprate hunting spot I use clan hall buffs and have at it for a few hours if time permits.
Quite frankly my advice to you is figure you what you want to do and make it work.
From what I understand... the Silver Ranger is the fastest Archer and one of the best pvp'ers... the Phantom Ranger is very good for Sieges.. .they do the most damage, the Hawkeye has always been a mystery... I hear they are one of the toughest and also very good with buffs.
As far as wanting it all... you sort of "can't"
But you can come close... my class is a spellhowler... we are very good at PvP but not the best. We are excellent at PvE. We do well for AOE but sometimes people don't realize this. Part of the reason is that they look for AOE sleep and Spellhowlers only have "individual" sleep.
any class can solo to 75
odds are you dont wanna try though
if you have limited play time choose an archer or mage (not a spellsinger unless you have a second account)
they can solo better than any melee class and usually party fairly well
if you have to be melee choose a bd
although they lack the defence of the average melee they make up for it in fairly good offence and some of the best buffs you can get
most bd say they solo really well till mid 60's but they also do really well in parties (nuker and melee parties)
no matter how cute the dwarfs look dont choose one
Or, if you want to be the biggest and most ferocious melee, pick a tyrant or a destroyer. Destroyer can live up to it's name, just pick a bow, get into frenzy+rage and it's bye bye to all those who oppose you if they cant drop you fast ;)
Seriously, Destroyers are hulking slow characters, that can take _alot_ of damage and deal _alot_ of damage. The highest damage output by a single strike in game ;) Tyrants, well they are more flexible, but they are the fastest class both in run speed and in attack speed. They too can take alot of dmg and deal out alot too. Both good classes, a bit underplayed -like all melee- but if you know what you're doing, they can shine on the field. Both have good solo abilities, but best for them is if you have buffers or a few other DDs with you. This game is best played in a group after all ;)
About all the big bosses; yes, they drop loot. Some more than others and some are harder than others. Raiding is a big part of the game, especially Boss hunting(Antharas and the likes) and the game has a big PVE aspect because you need to do lots of PVE to be good in PVP ;)
