New server, new players only.

While the topic of a new server has been up many times, what I would really like to see is a new server where only new accounts that has been created at the time the server came up and onwards can log onto it.

This would prevent people from just making alts or new characters over there and dominating easily, they would have to be serious about moving and actually either have double as many accounts or close down their old accounts. Would also mean you can't just botswitch between servers either.

This would make the new servers truly fresh and only for those serious about starting anew.
It will still end up like Teon, atleast as far as the bots and farming are concerned. If there was profit to be made do you think those people, (namely those icky people who sell adena ><), would care about making a second account?

Well people would care more about making 9 MORE accounts ontop of the already existing 9 accounts.

On Teon, all you had to do was use your existing 9 accounts to make profit there too.

While yes, there would be more bots, it would be less and even more importantly, the players playing there would be new accounts, not just "hey guy from XXX Server, just create an alt here and we'll powerlevel you up, then you can support us in sieges and visa versa".
not a bad idea
imo.. if a server is going to be fired up.. and i hope one is..

there should be some serious amount of time spent on REALLY making sure bots do not show up.... anything even remotely suspicious should be nailed emediately

Its a new market, why would they care if they plan to expand their business? Bots get banned from time to time and just make new accounts, i dont quite see why they would stop with that.

Its not like you can be online on teon and another server at the same time. So unless they moved from a different server to teon, they just made new accounts.

Seriously the group with the fewest problems to make that sort of move would be bots. They have no social connection to their old server and they hardly care about their 'hard' leveled toons etc. If there is a market (and we all know how lineage2 is ticking) and questionable activity from NCSoft to keep 'em out, there will be bots, lots of bots. I honestly see no gain in forcing 'normal' ppl to register new accounts if they prefer a fresh start. I'd rather want to see the long promised opposite: server transfers.
This isn't a move to stop bots. (but it would heavily deter some of it) Its more to deter existing powerplayers simply using their existing accounts to powerbot over new dominating characters on that server too or to switch over an help a "chapter" on that server. This would mean only people *serious* above moving there would go through the trouble.

If a bot gets 9 accounts banned, he doesn't have to pay for both 9 new and the 9 old, only the 9 new.

If bots wants to do both "Frants" and an old server, they would need 18 active accounts running.

Alot of the bots I've heard of alternate their work between the servers, depending on the characters, as does powerplayers. It would also prevent people lending out old accounts to friends to make new characters on the new server when the account isn't in use on the main server (as seen done on some old servers)

Not really anymore. The last thing I'd like to see is some uberbotted character transfered over to this new server and it will suck yet again.
this wouldnt detract pro farmers from farming in that server, most botting and farmer is done using 9 accounts 24x7 in one server, its not possible to log in to multiple servers at the same time.
No, it wouldn't. And that isn't really the point. It would deter players from doing the same and using existing accounts to strengthen their numbers with players who don't actually play the server.
I would hate such a server because I couldnt make a lowbie on it. Oh well 10 servers (including PTS) should be good enough for even me. :D

The best part about having newbies only on the proposed server is that most wouldnt bother to start ebaying from day 1.

The biggest problem is of course the amount of players that would play on the server. The population would grow slowly, it could take awahile before an economy is starting up.

Another problem is that while some server are filled to the limit, some could use new blood. The only exception being the Euro server, but I am not sure if enough new players would arrive fast enough to make the new server worthwhile.
If you limit the server to only new players, you'd miss out on the largest source of new players: people who played on other servers and want to start from scratch. ;)

Thats exactly whats not going to happen. Those truly serious about wanting a new server would abandon their old accounts and restart new ones. Those who only wants to create alts so they can server hop, grief and be [censored], won't be starting new accounts just for that purpose.
I'm sorry, I don't see the point.

Besides a bit of experience, what difference does it matter if someone is completely new and starts at lvl 1 and someone is experienced and starts at lvl 1... well.. the experience one has. But this game isn't rocket science.... you can figure it out pretty easily.

What? If I wanted to play on this new server, I have to go out and buy a new cd, probably from the NCSoft online store, at the MSRP? Yeah, that's not going to happen.

What WOULD happen is it would create a haven for Adena, inc. They would have to create new accounts anyway to farm there. The handful of new players wouldn't have any experienced players joining them, get ****** when "asdXxxxSD|||" doesn't answer them, and quit.

Like I said, it would make sure that only those truly wanting to start over will do so. It also means no intermingling with having other people coming over from other servers to siege and tip the balance.

Some would, many wouldn't. Lots of the farmers on Teon wasn't "new accounts", they were farmers using existing accounts to go over and making cash there too, or players who jumped over using existing farmer accounts to continue farming money immediatly.

It of course won't stop the problem at all, thats not really the point of the server, since NO server could ever stop it.
Becase the experienced player would just level a character up over there to have and to switch between, I know alot of people who do that on the existing servers already. There will still be people who does this, but it will be a major expense for them to do so.

ok... so what is to stop the "new" players from doing this once they've started their characters there and then decide to take a ride on another server?

What does it matter in the end?

It seems like you just want to have a server where players can ONLY have characters on that particular server for the reason of what?

Having a little bit of experience will be a bit of an advantage but not hugely so. So what are you really getting at? Botswitch? I have no idea what that is.

From a business point of view, why would NC want to do this?

Nothing really prevents them from doing that, other than they would have to start over in reverse, and without being able to make "I scratch your back, you scratch mine" on the regular servers (without doing serious work), they would be rather limited as to what they can do.

To only have people on there serious about playing on that server, instead of just the influx of griefers and arses who just create alts there and bot/powerlevel them up in no time on main accounts.
