Why am I getting this error? Please help me

After I click the start button on the auto-update screen. I get this error:
OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD Unknown processor @ 2205 MHz with 1023MB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200 (8195)

Assertion failed: retVal>=0 [File:UnCanvas.cpp] [Line: 5393]

Please Help me fix this problem.

Have you done a full file check? As there was a patch released yesterday.

yes do file check happened to my laptop . It worked fine on patch . But laptop like to shut off randomly so when I rebooted and tried logging I got something close. I ran file check it found some files to download and now iamb able to log on Not sure what it fixed but I can log on .
