Which is probably the reason they made raid bosses out of them. Although the converted mini bosses are still way more easy than the original raid bosses are.
Mini bosses were fun, you could just get a party of three to nine people together and kill them. No hassle, no endless planning/waiting...
Problem was probably that you could kill them with high level helpers. A lvl 60+ SE buffing and actively healing while the lvl 30s farm DTs for example. Now that they are raid bosses you can't do that anymore. Though noone will bother getting a raid party of lvl 25s together. Especially since all they drop now is a silly amount of mats noone needs and that you can't crystallize, the only reason our alliance did low level raids...
NCSoft has a way of fixing things by taking the fun out for all...
IMO the mini bosses were bags of hot air. They talked the talk but didn't muster up.
The drops SUCKED big time. Kill a level 50 mini boss and get no adena but 1 silver nugget. What's up with that? I've litterly killed various levels of mini bosses over 100 times no various level charaters and the best I ever got was a spoil of 1 winged spear blade. The next best thing I have gotten was 4 thread. Then a silver nugget quite a few times, and a stem alot of the times. Worthless as far as making up the game. They now seem to atleast require a full party (IMO they should have required a full party before) so I see that NCSoft has actually 'fixed' the mini bosses - donno yet about the drops but I will soon.
True. The drops didn't match the effort put in to defeating these mini bosses. But they sure were fun to kill, regardless.
The drops shouldn't be too good, but something a little better than a silver nugget would have been nice. My friend did get a doom shield recipe from Meanas Anor though. (A level 70-something mob dropping B grade stuff "lol").
We used to do them as a break from normal leveling, and I agree for the most part the drops off them was next to nothing but it was fun.
I can vividly remember running to Sir Calibus by accident while trying to level my low level SO (1 free port back to town)..and gaining a far measure of revenge a wee while later.
That was the fun you got your *** handed to you once and then you went back with friends and handed them theirs, always made sure all our toons where within the level of the boss.
To be honest, I dont miss em too much. I enjoyed soloing them or taking them with a healer, but I never got a single worthwhile drop (best I ever got: 1 Varnish from a lvl 55-ish...wooo hooooo). Now, however, I love them. My alliance is still growing, so we have trouble taking the "real" bosses. However, these converted mini bosses are just right. We took one with one party of all melee characters and no tank (I tanked  ) and got a bunch of Sword of Valhala blades. Pretty cool stuff.
Yup, I ran through DP when going from oren to giran just so I could oneshot tempest Nakondas. Just for fun. I did get a full Claymore from him once.
I like the idea of tierd bosses, the Eipic bosses, bit RBs, mini RBs (the old minibosses) But I'd also like one group bosses, or half group bosses. Maybe even Diablo 2 Elite like monsters possibly soloable by a nuker or archer, or that a trio or something could kill.

I took out Calibrus in EG yesterday and got one Necklace of Darkness. Diddn't go to me, but the 8k SP was worth it.
So the drops for ex-minibosses have been upped, but still doesnt seem to be worth the effor, since one person pays off for 9-18 people work.
