I think the room in Cruma near where the Dorf need that chest to become WS. Its a room with 5 portas. You smake em all to get aggro and run around the room to draw them in a group and then AoE attack them over and over. Dont grab the initial aggro by using magic as they will srat porting you when you use magic. Once you have them all in a nice group THEN you can start using your magic AoE.
I think that's too risky for a solo wizard. If I remember correctly, portas stun.
However if you can find a healer to duo with, it's a different matter. I've duoed many times with a dark wizard in the porta room in the early days. He would AoE poison and run around in circles to make the portas gather in the middle, and AoE them. Very good xp ^_^

Umm yeah! DON'T listen to the people to tell you to AoE things! IT WILL NOT WORK! lol I have tried many times....esspecially it will not work solo.
The catacombs are pretty nice, but you can't solo! Other than that if you want to solo, cruma swamp area is pretty nice. Also if you hunt in Death Pass. It depends on the gear you have also...and if you can spam bsps. I think I hunted a lot in Death Pass!
So because it does't work for you, it can't work for someone else? I've seen a dark wiz aoe the porta room, and dark wiz + human wiz do the same, with me, when I was a wee oracle.
Maybe it doesn't work so well for light elves, I don't know, but don't say it can't be done for anyone.
Before you head to Ivory Tower, stop by Hardin's Academy and pick up a Quest. This is a Wizard type quest only. Just hunt in Ivory Tower and get quest items by a bucket load.

Thats not the worse of what the portas do now either. AoEing them is a BAD idea because every single one of them will "SoE" you, making you teleport right by them, and they generally all end up doing it at the same time, which can cause some nasty lag. Commonly if you are AoEing them you will end up right in the middle of the group, and yes they stun...it lands a lot sometimes. So yeah...unless you have someone to rescue you, I suggest not trying to AoE the portas in that room.
i guess im used to my fighters, cause ive spent alot of adena & time trying to find a good place to lvl & havent, maybe im looking for too much exp for a magic user.

They ported you to them in C3 too (and BAM stun!). It's not a problem if you have a healer with you, unless they have beefed them up (even more) in C4.

Excuse me? I guess me lvling from lvl 38-41 solo in that one room with the Portas was a dream. I too used Flame Strike power 19 and occasionally my AoE posion. Its very easy. Nice respawn time and they are slow as snails. Use Blessed shots tho!
hunt fettered souls in deathpass till 40 then go to forest of mirrors to hunt tiak orc captians from 40 to 45
I don't have an elven wiz, but from my experiances as a nuker that would be a bad idea. Going for the tiak orc captains anyways. Though my experiances in the Forest of mirrors is limited to Harit lizardmen and nearby creatures, I have face a few of the orcs. At 40 expecially, going for those will burn up lots of mana and/or bsps.
There are much better places. Like what had been mentioned before (It had been...right? O.o) Karul bugbears are good. I personally went up against them as a DW up till 40, and even after I had become a SH I continued to fight them.
Ofcourse you could always move on....further south(?) you will come across a path in the back leading up a hill where you will find more bugbears and orcs, and also lakins (with coin of magic these drop blood medusa ^.~) there are weird drakes (I find these annoying at best >.>) and kronbe spiders (drop keys and some nice mats occasionally, also the easiest of the three to kill). Those I think you can live off on till level 50, though I could be mistaken. I didn't stay for that long.
Ok nitro...I think most of the people that are stating to AoE haven't played a LE wizard. They eaither are a DE wizzy with a lot more damage and/or human wizard... and both nuking classes get AoE poison whereas a LE wizard doesn't.

Umm yes! I would have to say that if you were a LE wizard doing this you were dreaming. For one your damage is crap and second you DON'T get AoE poison! I really don't give a -_- if other classes can do this, but NO...not a LE wizard. Not all mages are created equal. Maybe you also did this in C1.
LE AoE suck so much that with a goathead staff I couldn't AoE crap. In all reality, I should have just forgot about that lame AoE. Never worked!!! The recharge is too slow to even get off enough damage. You have to 4 hit or more most mobs your level, even with blesseds. It would be faster just to nuke each mob separately. The only time I used it was before I got my other SpS AoEs and I was in clan AoE groups.
I will tell you straight out Nitro..I find leveling a LE wizard very difficult. Our PvE SUCKS!!! If you want a PvP character then they are good, but really...I think part of our balance in PvP is that we level SLOW...because of problems like this. I know you will hear different, but these people usually have a boxed SE and they rerolled one so they can get like a +5 Staff of Life or something like that!! LOL!
Soloing a LE mage is crappy all togeather. Really you won't get much experience, or if you go for harder mobs you will have enormous down time. You need to two hit mobs, so you will probally just have run though the land until you find green mobs that you can two shot. If you have an SE and like a pimped out weapon...well then obviously you could go for harder mobs.
I remember I leveled in Cruma swamp off the stakatos until about lvl 38 also, doing the Black Lion Quest. I think after that I went to Death Pass, but not for long...because then I got into a clan and did Cat and Necro groups. The best way you will level is in a group, preferably with an SE/SO in there...
I am just looking out for one of my elven brothers...so really I wouldn't recommend AoEing stuff, esspecially solo...unless you plan on dying!
Heine field. Maximise your cast speed and one-shot Rakuls with Solar Spark. Fastest you'll find.
If you can't manage a one-shot on Rakuls, try two-each-shotting the Lageos/Pageos groups. That was the best exp for my human nuker at that level.
PS: The light elf AoE is good for when you can not find mobs you can cleanly one-shot. Put an aqua swirl into each of them, round up about ten this way, and wham them. Do not attempt without windwalk and mage mith (yes, with the gloves). Do not attempt with lag. Do not attempt on weak machine. And a note added from personal experience: Do not attempt as your mouse batteries run out. :(
The key is to go for medium-slow mobs i.e. everything that's not a golem/zommie/lirein etc. Anything super slow is either magic and archery resistant, does ports (like the Portas - they are no longer AoEable by the way*, or has remote attacks and is thus difficult to herd.
* Unless you want to do groups so small that you can stand a pummeling from them when they teleport you towards them, but then the EXP isn't worthwhile)
Ok coming from a lvl 60+ Sps. I soloed 90% 1-52. At lvl 38 hunt the Orcs north of Giran. Decent xp and the archers drop D armor enchants at a decent rate (C3). At 40 go to hunters villagew and get the coin quest. Go back to Oren and hunt the orcs there tell about 44. Then hunt the spider, laken and wierd drake south of HV tell about 48-49. Then go north of cruma tower and hunt there tell your so tired of the place you could puke. Before you know it you will be lvl 52 and wondering where the time went.
of course all this was done in C3 so not sure what has changed in C4.
