How would a Spellhowler be to level solo, but without outside buffs? No emp or so. Just go about it using pots, acu+ww. Gearwise, nothing spectacular - just your average gear :P
A SH can level solo and without outside buffs until lvl.... um.. let's just say the mid 60s. I decided to use lvl 25 SO buffs ( all SHs need is emp 1 for killing single hps at this level anyways ) in the mid 60s so that I can kill Valley of Saints mobs efficiently.
This is without top weapon ( I used+3 homu till 55, whichi s when I oed it to +7 homu, broke it at 61, then bought a cheap +3 desparion staff with acumen )... and with demon part time. The only real reason to use demon on an SH is to ease the transition when moving into a higher hunting ground. Even then, you only have to wait one or two levels to get to the proper skill set to continue with your cast speed set ( devo, karmian, avadon, dark crystal... maybe tallum ).
This is for solo though. It's a very easy ride for SHs. B2m + vampiric claw is a great combo to keep mana up .... while the Clear Mind passive let's you regen mana at the sitting while you walk ( as in.... not running ). Hunt field mobs for the 30% bonus exp, then use your overhit nuke to gain an extra 25% bonus. It might seem like slow action.... but leveling like this can get you 15% per hour at lvl 60... if you can imagine how insane that is for solo work.
I used vampiric claw + b2m because the range for corpse drain is too short. The time it takes to kill a mob is less then the time it takes to run to the drops, so I usually have myself another target on queue before the second nuke is even done casting. Like most higher level players, I ignore the drops for a certain amount of time... mainly the hourly down time... which is spent walking around picking drops up ( clear mind is a godsend ). For the most part, there is an unspoken rule and respect for this "ignore drops until later" style of grinding, so theives are rarely a problem. Farmers have been extremely nice to me, giving me buffs and what not, all the while ignoring my drops, and my mob camp... so that's cool. It might not be the same for your server.. but in any case, leveling a SH is the easiest class in this game.
Yeah I have a SH up to lvl 45, mostly solo and only needed health pots if I made a big mistake.. very rare. If you do it right, choose the right location and such you will never have to sit for a rest.
Not once have I ever needed any buffs nor pots, and personally at the levels I was soloing (between 40-50) I tried emp 3 and the mobs I was fighting I killed in the same amount of shots I did without buffs, so after that I pretty much ignored any offers for buffs unless WW. Since I'm always in /walk WW2 makes it easier for me to get to the mobs first ^^
Also, depending on what you are fighting, you wont need to use any sps or bsps. Ofcourse it wouldn't hurt to carry some for those emergencies but I myself found little need for them before B grade. I leveled just fine and saved lots of money.
SHs are beasts with the proper tatoos... so you would never need m atk gear until you party in catas, or until the mid 60s.
Again I suggest cast speed sets all the way. Devo/Karmian/Avadon/DC/ and all equivalents. I've tested it mysel.... higher cast speed yeilds more exp when all is said and done. If you don't beleive me, consider this.
Demon set and over hit nukes gave 0.2 less exp per buff round then avadon and regular nukes. cast speed + overhit nukes is where it's at. Don't worry about SP... I never had a problem learning the most important skills along the way. Sure, it took a while to clear the entire skillset, but I got everything I needed right away.
I would dissagree since i need to use Demon so i can kill the mobs with less mana-but i take it mana is no problem for SH and he has naturally highest m.atk so...
Demon set adds exactly the same amount as if i switch my SoV +3 for a SoM+0 weird.

I don't see how this applies to SHs. 1.5-2.5k with regular nukes at my level. That's one shotting lvl 70 hp feeble type mobs, or two shotting lvl 65ish single hp type mobs. With demon, it adds what... 200-300 damage per nukes? I don't see how Demon would bridge the gap between nukes unless the mob you're fighting has 3x or more hp.
