Mage cancel cast issue

Why is it that after C4 was implement, that mages cannot cancel their cast any longer? Before it was a simple matter of clicking off the person you were casting on. Now no matter what you do, if a cast is in action, you cannot cancel it unless it gets interrupted or something? Was this intentional or is this a bug? If this is a bug please fix it asap! Otherwise if it was intentional? WHY? It doesnt make sense that mages cannot cancel their cast?
Did you ever tried press Esc key ?

lol. Yes, they changed it in C4 so that you no longer have to have a target to cancel out of spells/songs/dances/buffs/etc so this may be why thats effected. I can't say for certain but its probably the case. It was a change long overdue. If someone like a SwS or BD did a wrong or extra song/dance it could destroy their MP or overbuff, I cannot express how happy I am that its easier to cancel out songs.
Yes I just tried it now and it worked. But what the hell? Why not leave what was not broken in and then ADD the ESC key as an alternative? Again, NCSOFT tries to fix whats not broken. Leave whats not broken the hell alone is what I say. I would like the option of using my mouse, to unselect a target and also see my cast cancel as it did before. Some people who are used to using the mouse are arleady acclamated to this method.

Why not give BOTH options? I still dont get why this change was made.
You may have missed the usefulness of this one, but I find it hella handy to be able to cancel casting but keep the target cancelled.

For example, in forge of gods, I play with 5 other SH's, those stupid drakes keep casting that 300dmg nuke, I cast silence and my buddy casts silence, I wanna cancel mine and let him spend the MP to cancel it while I nuke it instead.

Its good and handy.

Further to that, in PvP its good to nuke, or cast a long cast spell (eg dark vortex) and select another target and cast the next spell without worring about getting it cancelled by misclick.

I don't think that this was broken, however I do think that alot of things that aren't broken can have improvements made on them.

Just thought I'd point out that using the escape key is not new to C4. ^_^

But previuosly the ESC key both canceled your spell, and removed your target.

Which was a major issue most of the time. Now it takes two ESC for the same effect... the first press cancels the spell, the second press removes the target, if you want.

Thats right, see my earlier post.

the idea is that you CAN keep the target if you start casting something and realize that it was a mistake.

Just hit esc 2 times and you will lost target. I know it seems like a pain in the neck but more often than not I would find myself needing a different spell only to have to "retarget".
it is very nice now I can cancel a spell without having to retarget this is VERY nice if the mob (or player, for that matter)I'm trying to retarget is either moving, or grouped up in a bunch of other mobs. pre-C4 i've died because of that or my summon, or both.
They changed it so that the first esc cancels the spell, and the second esc cancels the target, instead of esc simply doing both.

It's a nice feature, but it's late. I was too used to old version... and now I have to adapt.
