Why is it so difficult to buy Lineage II now? I know NCsoft isn't really pushing the game in NA, never has, but you would think they'd at least make the game available somehow. It's nearly impossible to find a new account! None of the stores that used to carry the game carry it anymore (checked Bestbuy, ebgames, wal-mart, gamestop, etc.). You can't even buy it from the company that makes the game! PlayNC is currently out-of-stock of the only version of L2 they sell (DVD Collector's Edition). CompUSA is the only store that I can find that still sells it and they don't deliver.
The only way it seems possible to buy the game is by buying a serial code directly from PlayNC. However, they don't list a price and I know that in the past it cost $59 to do that, even when it was selling for $12 - $19 in stores. With that price, even a person who wants to be legit would be tempted to buy a non-legit account, because you can get some for as low as that, and higher levels for $100 - $350.
Does anyone know of an online store that sells new L2 accounts? Does anyone know how much an L2 code costs to buy direct from PlayNC? And does that include the first month free, like the box does?
This is so frustrating. If I were a new player, looking to buy this game, I would have given up already. I wonder how many interested would-be-players do give up without ever buying the game? There needs to be a big sign (or little sign or hidden link, even) that directs people to a place where they can buy the game.

I have no idea where you are but Best Buy in Cambridge, MA has many copies as well as the EB games.
The link given above does include the first month free, it just doesnt includes a manual (an extreemly outdated one) or disc. you will need to dounload the game

I didn't actually go to all those stores, I don't have all the time in the world. But they don't list/sell them online anymore and they used to.

I already have the game, no need to download it, just want another account.
Still, if we want new players, I think the game needs to be a little more available for people to buy.
I wrote them a letter of complaint about this. But all I got was a canned responce, and they requested my account info (for their site) for "further investigation" or some [censored], which was highly irrelevant to the topic of my email (oh and they wanted to know what product thiswasabout, which Ihad specified in my e-mail). That made me think "forget about it", since it makes no difference to me anymore, because I'd already purchased a new account on ebay. I was just wanting them to make L2 accounts accessible for other non US residents, without the hassle of ebay (and cheaper too).

If you go to the CompUSA site you can buy it there too. Though it is only listed as used on Amazon. Not sure if their Direct2Drive agreement has anything to do with that.
Direct2Drive is only for US public not EU so not always a good solution....
There are several D2D things that Europeans can get, just not L2 and some other things.
Why NCSoft doesn't allow that or didn't get the paperwork fixed to allow that is beyond me...except perhaps that it requires the MMOG to actually have servers located in Europe to allow online sales of it.
For Europeans, I might dare to push the store at Onlinewelten (http://www.onlineweltenshop.com/index.php?cat=c327), which is the associated shop to the german fansite. We are definitely not out of stock for L2-games. Unfortunately, being able to read german is really helpful to get through there ;)
Slightly more expensive than ebay ($2). Can they send you the CD key via e-mail, and choose not have to have the game sent to you? If not, I guess you'd have to pay for shipping on top of that.
