When do people start to group?

I'm on the Devianne server. I've got a level 34 Dark Elf Palus Knight, hopefully a future Bladedancer. I'm doing my levelling in Catacombs, Pilgrims right now. Occasionally the Flower Garden.

I'd heard that you almost never got in a group before level 20, but after that, it started to pick up. Ok, so I grinded up to 20. Now, at 34, I still have never been in a single group. It gets really boring do the same thing, over and over and over again, without any company. That was one of the good things about DAOC-there was always a lot of grouping.

I've gone around, yelling to try and find a party. But nothing. It's getting really tiring, and I'm feeling the "burn out" I get from MMOs when they get this repetitive.

When can I expect to actually start grouping? I had heard that there'd be a lot more grouping between 20 and 40, but I've seen none of that. I hope I don't have to wait til I'm a BD to start enjoying the game again. :(
From 33-37 I grouped continually and non-stop. Most of my groups were in the catacombs and necropoli-- I'd shout that I was looking for a group, and regardless of whether or not I go an answer, I'd swim down and basically force people to be in my group, or force myself into other people's groups ^.^

As a tank, you should say your level and "Lvl 34 tank lfg in the HC" or something like that. I've grouped with many tanks pre-40 and enjoyed it-- they were much more valuable to duo with than other DDs because they could keep aggro from me.

Other than that, it might just be a population thing on Devianne. Now I know Devianne isn't that small but I'd be very surprised if places around Dion pre-40 were empty.
Ya gotta ask folks to play with you.

Try approachin them, or ! lvl 34 knight lfg or duo in HC
another thing to do is to find people who would want to group with a tank... like.. a healer!!! As the lvls get higher, it is more difficult for them to solo.

Find a healer or mage and offer to tank for them.

Believe me... even though I have no problem soloing (and enjoy it very much) some of my best duos were with a melee.

Why? Because it is then so easy to me. it's safe, I don't have to do anything mroe than one or 2 hits at the most and you have someone watching your back.

So if you see a healer/mage looking for a group, just tell them to duo with you. it will work well.
There are people out there to party with be patient sometimes it can take a while. I use to solo outside dion with a macro that said "DD LFG" until someone answered or invited me to a group. I dont know if you are ready to join a clan yet but you could also try that. Once you get into a clan its much easier to find parties. If the clan has an alliance its even easier. I know my clan/alliance has a few players/alts at your lvl or a bit higher that would party with you. Just ask around alot and I mean alot.
If soneone refuses to group with you however dont go and insult him!
Once the guy that asked even flagged on me<.<And i just wanted to seed alone :(
Good point about seeding -- I think it was Cher who sang "sooner or later we all seed alone"

Also talk before you /invite, cuz I know I'm not alone in hating random unannounced invites.

Read the invite window to or you might join a clan people have been known to mass invite to clans when people holler for party. I fell for it once was a stupid newb griefer clan.
Yeah, that is odd. I have played on a few servers, and multiple chars on a few of them. I usually ended up in groups by lvl 10. I think my 1 char, I even got into a group with another random new player at lvl 2 or so. We went on an elpy killing spree on TI. I actually find it harder to get into groups at the higher lvls, and way easier at the easier lvls. When your lower lvl, help is always a plus, well uness your seeding/want to solo. All you do is stand at the entrance of a dungeon, whereever and shout that you are looking for a group. Remember, you don't have to be invited, you can take the lead role and do the inviting as well. After when you get to higher lvls, most people group in clans, or their parties are comprised of a select few classes, and its all mathematical. Take the initiative, and start getting into parties now, as if you don't start to mingle, you won't make it into them at higher lvls.
may i ask what class you are?
my ws got groups till 26 when spoil stopped working
after that i would be lucky to get a group every 10 days
on my bh i never waited more than 20 mins to get a group

also if you are a DD that is underequipt expect the rerolls and ebayers not to want to group with you
Hmm I have no problems getting in groups with my Arti, at lvls above where spoil works. Grab your pole, and shout Poler LFG!!!

Not sure what server you are on, but the ones I have played on love anyone with pole skills. AOE parties ftw!!!!
Since i have to wait alot of time to get in a group i have build up my Sorc so i can solo (quite good too- lvl 62 was made in 1! day solo).
Too bad my clan left to play another MMO.
Yea sometimes you have to be aggressive in finding groups. I know people that will ask in clan or ally for a party then stand around and wait hoping for a party. Its good to check with your clan/ally first but many times you have to step up. Go to Heretics or Pilgrims. Use shout and say TANK LFG PST. If others are standing at entrance ask them if they have room or would like to form a party. If that all fails move into the cata as much as you can and go up to the parties you see in the different rooms and ask if they have room for a tank. Just have to be more pro-active in finding groups sometimes.

I know people in my own clan/ally that will not go actively looking for groups. They will ask in channel but not try to form one or even go to the exp spots and actively seek out a group. I actually tend to group probably 95% of the time outside my clan/ally because I go looking for groups instead of waiting for one to form. Which isnt a bad thing I get to meet other people from different clans/allys and in turn I get to be known by more people server wide from grouping with them. Play well and eventually people will recognize your name and actively recruit you for parties. Get into a good group where things work well and you get along well with them, add them to your friends list. Then next time your lfg pull up your friends list and start messenging people on your list if they have a group or any room. Sometimes you may just need to form the group yourself and grab others as they come in lfg.

If you dont actively seek out groups your going to spend alot of time solo and bored. Get out, get to know people, and don't be afraid to ask other parties if they have room. Don't get upset if people don't respond (although that is one of my pet peeves...atleast so no or sorry instead of nothing at all) just wait a minute or so and if no responce move on and ask the next party you see. You will be in that area for a few more lvls, be active in finding groups and eventually you will start grouping with the same people off and on and they will recognize you and send you an invite.

Most of all...Have fun :)
