First thing id like to say is i love the Dark avenger, i dont know why, i love it, i love tanking, i love the panther etc...
So why im asking this ? Because there is one thing i like in a mmo : Beeing usefull. And i dont think the Dark avenger is usefull, at least to other's people eyes.
Nobody need me in party (duo or more)...I hear'd that archer/nuker/buffer are more usefull...And that make sense, but why not a tank ?
So actualy i play solo, with my prophet behind, chatting up with ppl while hunting etc, but i still dont feel usefull... I know it may sound silly, but i dont play a mmo to be alone, and all my friend left the game so im truely alone :p
I also hear'd that the big party (in catacomb etc) dont really use a tank, same for the raid boss etc...
Actualy im lvl 59, and im starting to wonder what is the point lvl'ing more?
I know i should try to get into a clan but each time i see a clan recruiting, they want 70+ ppl (and probably not a DA)
Btw i think the SK is way better than the DA, well i dont know, thats what ive read :p
I love the game, im just tired of farming all the way to get my stuff, i just finished my B grade set...Yep in 2 lvl i can use A grade and it will be a bigger pain in the *beep* to farm for it...especialy alone...All this for helping myself ?
SO, is it worth something to continue leveling/farming like mad or do this game dont need DA at all for party/raidboss/pvp etc... And then, should i just cancel and reroll ?

DA is not useless, its always wanted in parties, its always wanted for pvp parties and its always wanted for raids. Its pretty **** hard to kill a raidboss without a tank, geez get a clue dude.

Hmm because each time i lfg in public chat, or in private, for xp or whatever else, none want a DA ? Same for clan recruiting ? Im a noob for that ?

Btw i didnt say that DA are useless, i sayd "to other ppl eyes it seems to be preaty useless".
In my experience, parties are made within clan or with friends. So that might be why your LFG doesn't work. Also a group only needs one tank, so unless you're in a clan (where you don't get groups solely because of your class), your chances to get a pick up group are slim.

Edit: I mean actively look for a clan. There's bound to be someone who wants you. Ask your friends of they knowof a good clan.

You should know by now, your lvl 59 after all, that tanks take damage, and that other classes need those tanks to take the hits from the mobs in order for them to level. Tanks are usefull for pve, DA in particular is good at pvp, and tanks are vital for raid's, go out and learn your class and about other classes. All you have to do to find a party is go to your hunting ground, which would be apos cata and shout tank lfg, you'll get a party pretty fast.

All i wanted to know is why ppl, at least on my server, dont need DA. Yes i go often to cata/apos etc, even at outdoor hunting spot, and none want a DA in their party.
Yesterday i have seen a clan taking down a raid boss without tank, a gladiator was tanking it, and that boss was red to me.
So i ended up thinking that maybe DA became an useless class.
So the answer is probably getting into a clan as Champa sayd, even if they all want 70+ ppl...
Lol a gladiator tanking a RB? I dont think so, they were either stupid or de-lvling. Wouldnt take long for the glad to lose agro to a mage or archer then everything would go [censored] up. I dont know whats wrong with your server but i have no troubles finding random parties on my DA. If you cant get into one then create your own, just shout GLF healer/buffer/dd's and your set.
ViperBlade, saying LFG hardly works for anyone. It's not a tank thing. L2 just doesn't cater to pickup groups, it's extremely clan-based.
DA are alright, I'd party with one if I were in a clan and had one. If a random person said "DA LFG" I'd ignore him the way I ignore DD's, buffers, and nukers who say "LFG".

Man, I'll second that. Panther SS means when I encounter an enemy melee or healer, they're gonna die, and die reasonably quickly. Archers and nukers are still difficult, no suprise. For xp parties though, you don't really need a tank. Most raid bosses don't need tanks anymore either...emphasis on the most.
Meat shields and tanks are needed in PVP. The problem is there's not enough of us, and we don't get the support we need to be effective. The biggest problem is for melee to be effective, we need a BD/SWS+Healer + buffer. A nuker needs only an SE and acumen pots. Do the math. ;)
The higher you get, the less usefull you are. An AOE sleeper of the proper level is just as good as your hate aura. We do make the xp slower, but much safer. You are needed for raids. You make a great targeter in pvp as you should always be left for last and can run amidst the enemy picking targets and wacking down CP. Also, SS for the panther has significantly increased your damage output(like adding an extra DD to the party). If you are feeling it at 59, you wont make it to 70+ without a clan that will party you.
