Warcryer or Overlord

Now that the HE is B grade, and the PK is one level from C grade, it's finally time to get the Orc underway. This character will be designed for parties, parties, parties. Which class is the most valued in groups, sieges, mass PVP, etc. -- Warcryer or Overlord?
OL is great -- if you have an active, healthy alliance. all an OL's buffs are for ally only, so outside your ally you're not as great.

WC works in any groups, mixed clans or not. however they can only buff that group and not thier whole ally :P

so the question is, do you have a good ally? or a less than great one? maybe even clanless?
Thanks! Sounds like Warcryer is the way to go. I intend to be in a clan at some point, but I've yet to be in any clan in the past that has managed to keep an alliance intact for longer than 2 weeks. lol. The pains of dealing with newly formed clans I guess. I know there are quite a few established alliances on Devianne, but more than likely they all have high level Overlords. One low level OL won't be needed much in that instance. So, yes, leaning towards Warcryer...
I play a WC on Devianne, I'm in SuperNova alliance. I know WC have no problems grouping and they have great party buffs for PVE or PVP.

We have an Uber OL in our alliance and other then no Vamp regen or haste he rocks. I only use a few buffs for my clan party during raids and such. He is a lot higher and covers the basics and has some sweet extras.

Also the OL can heal the entire alliance. It may not be stronger then a WC but it's stronger then mine at my level. Seamed to have worked pretty well.

Not to mention during sieges, he can not only buff. But root mass people and DoT them. That can turn the tide of a battle.
I do some times find my self wishing I had gone OL!
Hello all,

According to Amborix reply I liked to make some questions that it could help me to make up my decision (I am leveling an 21 ORC Shaman right now).

Above you are mention the "mass root" but when i check the skills list of an OL i don't see root skill (is the slow skill same as root and its cloud style?)

Moreover I want to make my ORC a character for PvP and Solo (and the WC seems to have good buffs for party and solo but not root/slow that could help on 1vs1.....)

I am confused ......

Thank you in advance for any posts
Seal of binding is the root spell. I tend to call it by it;'s better known non orc name. It's an AOE spell so sticks a little less then Root.

OL and WC are about as good at 1V1, WC are a little better with there melee buffs. OL's are better at mass PVP. They can 1V5 possibly. I prefure heavy armor for 1V1 and mass pvp survival. I use focused duals with my crit buffs.

You can set a WC up as a caster but they seam boring that way due to there lack of spell veriaty and there mana cost. Life drain rocks but I think you need to back it up with some melee. O'ls may be better as a caster but the happiest WC and OL I know all use heavy and a melee weapon.

Edit: For 1V1 I think Warcryer is stronger. But PVP is less and less 1V1 on Dev any more.
Thx a lot for your advises, i gues i will go with OL due the rooting think and drain. I hope rooting in pvp with a bow as secondary weap will rock
you dont need a bow, you have a drain, which in your's hands will work better then bow.
Warcriers get the same drain, just an FYI. :)

EDIT: I could be wrong, but I don't think orc mystics get good enough accuracy to successfully use a bow.
Soul Guard ( or whatever it's called ) gives them the Def of a tank when toggled.

They have mass root, mass silence, mass dots, alliance wide buffs and heals.

They would have been the best pvpers, but their skills cost too much mana, and they are the hardest class to level up in the game.
Warcryer is pure parties. OL, only good in Alliance/Clan parties.
Listen to Zhanig he speaks the truth.

You sounded like you wanted party stuff... I think Overlords are great (I'm leveling one myself) but without a clan/alliance they really can't buff effectively.

If I read what you are asking correctly, I'd go Warcryer. UNLESS you have the potential of getting into a strong alliance.
people should stop looking at OL as just buffers. They are an AoE character, plain and simple if you ask me. They are a great backup buffer for clans/alliances but really they are an AoE class best suited for PvP, they aren't much of a PvE beast.
I don't disagree on any one point, I play the backup whacker sometimes. But, and this is hugh, without my clan, when I am in a party, then all my power is really to debuff. My Heart is one of them most powerful spells I use. Also, if we have a mage with us, I can do the hunting party once, they do a spot buff and then we crush, kill, destory.
We do miss a WarCryer and when we are lucky enough to have one, they are very appreciated.
But, I, as an OL, really do need and want a clan. If you are looking for party pickups mostly, that WarCryer is the way to go.
Besides, all the servers could use a few more WarCryers....
I agree on that last point. There need to be more overlords and warcryers everywhere. This whole "Six minutes to buf your party" thing is annoying. One alliance Overlord and a Warcryer in each party can buf an entire alliance in 10 seconds. Then, all you need is a single EE to give out mental aegis and advanced block. :D
I was going to make a warcryer, then I realised out of the four buffs I want, they only have one.

That said, WC for party.

Which 4 bufs, out of curiosity? Lemme guess: Windwalk, Zerk, Haste, and Bless shield? :D
We may not have Zerk and WW but we have 2 shields. One that does a single charicter and one that does a party. We also have haste. Just get the levels a little later. We only need empower. Zerk isn't that effective and lowers p.def.

We get Fury=haste, Vampire=Vampire, Eagle=crit rate, Rage=Crit POWER! We also get sheild and might, magic resistance, casting speed buff and a lot more.

I'd say thats pretty good. Especially when we can fight too.
[ Eagle=crit rate! ]
Wow
Eagle = accuarcy
Predator = crit rate;learn you own class.
It was a mistake... No need to be an a** about a typo....
I have fun with my DC. If I had to chose again I would make the same choice (besides being an OL and subbing WC)
Windwalk, Acumen, Concentration, Zerk

Actually, at BtB to the list of buffs I like for my levelling style that orcs lack. ;)

Why would I want haste? It's potted for me and I have it for my pony.
>>Actually, at BtB to the list of buffs I like for my levelling style that orcs lack
Nah, BtB5 is not enough for you?! (everyone can self buff btb now)
edit:
OL has ww2, acu3, zerk2...later as dominator emp3.
---
they lack bts, holy wpn.. and specific element resistance buffs.
Yes, if the manor were working, I could get BtB 5. It isn't, though.

As far as an OL goes - their buffs are too expensive. WC buffs would already pay off (MP-wise) just in a duo, but that's more than I can say for the OL. ;)

That's an amazing typo.
Overlord in robes has no problem keeping buffs up for a duo. My soul Guard gives me the pdef of a tank in sticky spots. OL should be in robes above level 52 IMO. Your wasteing the best advantages the character has to offer in heavy. Siege heavy is ok because they will target you right off the bat.

1vs1 is no contest. OL with soul guard and hp and cp heals will destroy a WC.

WC are great party members as their buffs are mp efficient and cover the spectrum of needed skills. They are limited to one party so in pve they shine but if you have numorous parties OL can buff unlimited amount of alliance characters.

To recap, IMHO
WC uber party buffer with melee ability. Great in pvp or pve.
OL alliance wide heals and buffs. Great in pve with debuffs and crowd control. Dominating at pvp.
As i posted already once and as a noob with orcs (having 2 dwarfs over 56lvl) i will share again my idea (for choosing to be an OL) for pvp situations and maybe sometimes in pve. My idea is that when u come in pvp with a close range fighter toon/s the mass root skill will rule if u root your enemy use ur drain skill (it seems that drain is an hardcore skill at least till now at the 22lvl) use a bow to hit from distance (having a bow as a back up weap) till u can re-drain enemies cp/hp.

Never seen doing that but i guess that will be make a continous grate damage to the opponent, moreover the rooting can give u time in bad situations to recover cp/hp.

for anyone who replies to that please don be heronic (seen many people posting in that way) cause as i said i am a noob with my new character.....

thank you
PvP is sometimes difficult for OL. THe hard part is if the other toon doesn't flag you back. Then, all of the boss seals don't work at all.
This is perhaps the most frustrating part of the class. I am working on learning my stun skill more, so that seems to help but I would love to be able to throw some seals out there pre-flag time.
I know why they can't allow this, the griefing would be awful.
