This is meant to be a silly post but i'm just wondering how many guys play female characters? I have lvl 16 female human fighter that I want to take all the way to DA but there's this part of me that feels weird playing a female character. But **** I just really enjoy looking at her run around in skimpy armor ;) Of course I could always start another character but I really don't have tons of time to play. Anyways I'm just curious as to how many dudes have female characters.
Yes it definately wouldn't surprise me to learn that the majority of female characters in Lineage are played by males. I have always played a male in other MMO's but with Lineage I felt I had to try out a female character because they just made them look so good. But IMO eastern MMO's character models always blow away our western counterparts anyways - both male and female. Maybe I'm just shallow like that but the way my character looks is important to me. And i'm enjoying the backside view so I thinks me and my lady will be doing lot's of killing together.
I play a female LE. Main reason I chose a female char was because before I started I saw some pics of a male LE archer in Drake I think. It was sooo **** ugly that I decided to make a female char. Have to admit though that I think doom and majestic looks better on a male char, but too late now.
Chose male because I am male. I didn't want guys hitting on me...lol! I have a female dwarf though... But my main is a male LE spellsinger... I have a human warrior that is male also..
Female DE Elder and male player here. OK, so the boobies ARE a bit big, but I still like the backside :) And nothing looks more pathetic than a male Shillien Elder in majestic. The main reason for choosing a female character though was not so much that I like to stare at my toon all day (although I do think she looks quite hot), but that I simply dislike the looks of the male toons.
Only problem is that it is hard to get the (real) female players to goof around and play-flirt with you when you play a female toon (even when they know a male player is behind it). They always prefer the male toons :(
ima female playing a female elf... but i like playing my male characters too ;) sometimes i wonder if my male elf ES comes off as a little fruity to certain people (i dont RP a boy so good) but hey, the noises he makes while being hit are just so **** funny/cute :D
Not me. My 2 healers are female (and yes, I've been hit on when playing them). My new scout is female but my mains (gladiator and abyss walker) are male.
Ill never play a female char, ill always play a male, i am male in rl and am not ashamed of it. Playing a female doesnt feel right, i like to strut about takeing on the role of my dude and when it comes to pvp/pve its a mans job.
Females should play female chars and male should play male chars, im not sexist, honest. ;)
/flame me
I am female playing male character. I like how DE males look ... except for some armours ><
But my alts are mostly females, orc mystic is only male alt.
female playing female toon ^^ (a female DE =o omg)
but my buffer is male <3 haha
Im trying to fix that human mystic way of holding the staff just by let him hang with a DE female.. but its getting worst every chronicle =p
Hey.. thomy is ****, sitting down and pretending he is holding a staff (anyone notice that? =p human mystics are always holding a weapon, even if theres none equipped)
Many male players prefer female chars because they look sweet. I also know someone who says he couldn't find a good male name so he started a female char. I also know a player who play female because this relates to his RL...
Playing male chars feels cool, i can feel uber and 1337 as one, i cant feel like that being a girl, i dont know why, i just cant. Smack talking pvp addicted female chars just wouldnt be right, so ill spare bartz and stick to my dude.
It's not so bad any more, but when I made my bishop in Prelude the female mystics looked and ran like they were plastic mannequins. Stiff legged gait and everything. Couldn't stand it.
I wanted to play Bishop. I don't want to play Korean rolemodel girly boys.
Thus Female Bishop.
Agreed. My first toon is a Male sk, when I decided to make a healer as well, I simply looked around cruma. There was a male duals-wielding mystic there named valerin. Human males in L2 look gheyer than a 3 dollar bill. Hence the female bishop.
I think they did a crappy job with the human toons in general, the male fighters look like 18 year old kids on steroids, giving the impression of dangerous but arrogant. The females look like straight up amazon fighters.
With the elves, they could have made a different look for fighter vs mystic...the only thing telling them apart is their armor for both sexes.
Hey.. thomy is ****, sitting down and pretending he is holding a staff (anyone notice that? =p human mystics are always holding a weapon, even if theres none equipped)
im playing female paladin
im intrested in art design and its been my experience that for the most part females usually get the better design.
no idea why
ive seena lot of armors on alot of races and classes and female design is definitly better in this game.
xcept maybe for the new s grade light armors waaaay tooo skimpy in my opinion
for humans and LE anyways
DE always skimpy :p

look at it this way, if you're a male drawing clothes for this sort of thing... do you want to spend all your time drawing a male DE crotch strap suit or female DE boob suit? male LE poofy-pants or female LE panties? ....yeah thats what i thought. excuse my newbness at designing terms, never bothered learning them. :p
LMAO at boob suit. That doesn't explain the human mystic barmaid outfits though (divine, karmian, mithril, BW, avadon, tallum) I was joking with our female bishop that she should learn "Was trinken Sie gerne?"
All of my main(s) have been female - like Jute, it seems the male character's can't really hold my attention.
What I find... interesting... is a female human girl who turns out to a british man over ventrilo and then all the males in clan chat always talking about her/him whipping them with her cat-o-nine tails.
I made a post once about the toons I play.
I have both male and female toons and why not.
Starring all day to the same thing gets boring and I like diverity.
As I dualbox at times I made a "couple" of a female and male toon on my 2 accounts. That way it looks like I out with the "family" when grinding those long hours.
Yup, I am silly that way
I play a female dwarf and a cleric and a destroyer though my main is a male swordsinger and I have some other males toons too.
The reason I playa female though is different to others reasons. I have noticed and asked other players if they have noticed a difference between the way they are treated as a female and the way they are treated as a male and they do notice it. I think thats it basic psychology. our brains have certain sexually enculturated attitudes i.e. when we look ata female we respond to her as such and likewise a male. So for example most male toons are more likely to choose a darf elf female SE than a male SE ina group unless theres no other choice, or better said when you look at how many SE's and Prophets are created as a second to box with, dominantly they are female. I find that I get into more parties with my girl dwarf and my cleric then with my female orc who rarely gets invited out of the blue to anything. My dwarf is just cute and funny, and my cleric is pretty. ANd they way people will speak to you changes i know when i tell another guy in a party that i am a guy playin a girl they kinda trip out at 1st sometimes because they thought they were talkin to a girl. Im interested to know others whove noticed this. Ive often felt when playin my girl orc like ive been discriminated aginst like I was the ***** of the game or something. so basically I play my girls sometimes cause they get more invites to parties and they get more respect and attention-go figure.
And before you say well it could be the class, let me tell you its not. I have a lvl 30 Scavi whos male and a lvl 36 artisan girl and it took me half the time to level her i believe because she is female and face it much cuter when running then a hoblling old guy with bad hair.
Male here with all female toons. Like everyone else said, the female designs are much better and I don't feel the need to play a meathead. BTW to the guy who says "Males should play male toons" homophobia is a sign of suppressed gheyness. Closet boy .. :P
Whats worrying is the number of times I've been hit on ... really online games are not the place to go looking for girls. Its not healthy, cmon guys go meet some chix in meatspace. Some of the lame pick up lines ive recieved include:
"You're so beautiful"
"Oh but we were having so much fun .. please stay" and
"What your msn messenger email?"
I'm quite the fantasy junky. Always loved the gracious and smart elven females in fantasy (Shameless self-plug: I love it so much that I admin a fantasy review/community website (http://www.ff.net)). The male just doesn't have anything gracious or mystical on them - in this game.
If I had chosen a dark elf class I'd prolly have went male, because I absolutely hate too large ..attributes. No thanks.
Funnely enough the two cutest sounding girls in my alliance are playing male toons (male SH and male SwS). They even play more hrs/week then me! :p
No offense taken, ive been called worse, if you really want to hurt me btw then call gladiators crap or newbs.
I like to play males cos of my play style, i would feel weird personally playing the way i do (smack talking pvp'er) as a female girly girl char. It also gets on my nutz when your talking to someone and you refer to them as a 'he' or a 'she' only to be told their the oppersite sex irl and everything gets confusing. I might start refering to people as 'it' :D

I'm sort of with SPS on a certain lvl. If a toon is my main, I just can't get myself to make it female. However... for the few alts I've made (except my main alt which is a dwarf male) they have mostly been female.
I suppose it's because I feel my ingame toon is some sort of extension of "who I am" to a certan extent.
It certainly isn't because of homophobia... though I'm a straight male I'm also in the Arts. If one is homophobic, do not go into the Arts!
Well you're certainly beeing treated differently with another toon... read a few articles about what impressions people get from outer appearance of strangers... quite interesting. :)
But with a different look you don't only get different reactions... you're also able to act in a different style. For example my male orc mystic "feels" not the same to play as my dorf girl. Not talkingin the same way either. :)
If I refer to a character, it's "he" or "she", depending on the gender of that character. If I refer to a player, it's "his player" or "her player", again depending on the gender of the character. As for "it" ... that's reserved for purerly in-character talk about someone those race my character doesn't like. :D

that certainly works, until your on vent with them :p Now I call the girls playing male toons "she". I'd rather not get slapped for saying "he". Hm then again I migth enjoy that.. :o
Oh, it works on Ventrillo/Teamspeak, too. Again, I'm usually either referring to a character (= character's gender gets used) or a player (= player's gender gets used). Since those two ain't the same, a male player's female character is still a "she" (or "his character") without it being in any way awkward or confusing.
I'm another male playing a female char. I think a character has to look the way you like, otherwise you won't play it for too long.
But to me it always depends on the class. I would never play a male archer, I just think that's kinda gay. A real man (we're playing heroes, after all) fights melee or otherwise is a mage. On the other hand, I would never make a tank female, that just doesn't fit either. For healers I'm not so predefined, both is ok there.
The other thing are the looks. I never liked the light elves in L2 (or any other RPG), neither male nor female. Male humans look a bit boring and DE females are just too much. I dont think a woman with gray skin is very **** and the boobs are just too much to look good. At first I didn't like the male DE either, but after I while I thought they are quite cool. And female dwarves, well, I guess I never really pictured them because in most RPG they simply dont exist, but in any case, I just think they don't fit. So for dwarves I'd always choose male. And orcs - well, I never really liked the look of those, neither male nor female.
So, according to all these preoccupations and stereotype images in my head, I have a female hawkeye and a female prophet, but also a male palus knight and two male dwarves.

I too go by the gender of the character, until I know for sure what the player's real gender is. I try to avoid intrest of knowing if guy or a gal behind the toon, but im sure some players are trying make a love connection ingame :P
I played 3 main toons all male as kinda a persona of myself ingame, but my latest reroll I went female. Mainly due orc male being so huge was an eye sore to me. I like the female better cause slender and has better stance of showing her fists. If someone calls me a she I wont take offence, unless its a friend who knows me thou :P
If some guy comes on to me sure going to get laugh riot out of it lol
Male pink Orc playing male green Orc destroyer... mmmm need some holiday from myself :p
I've played much on a RP type game.. and also in that type of game many male play female chars. That little more difficult because they need to be "female" not only in pixel.
