Well just started playing L2 like 6 hours ago and trying to decide on a race/class i want to play:) Anyway I've got a Dark Elf/Fighter, DE Mystic, Human/Figh, Human Mystic, and an Orc Fighter.
Let me know whats a good first class to play that won't gimp me too bad and won't require too much money at first.
Also how are the stealth melee classes in this game? I've played a Rogue to 50+ in WoW and Shadowblades' in DAoC. Thanks for any and all help and hello to the community!!
Welcome to L2!
I suggest a DE fighter or Archer. You have a lot of strength, but lower con/hp. If you can learn to be successful with a DE the other races are a snap. Plus they are just uber **** to look at :D
welcome! i agree with sixkiller, coz i am a dark elven archer too in game! they are quite powerful, not overplayed on this server (there arent many dark elve archers), and they look cool.
archers in general is expensive to play tho, just a warning, due to arrow and soulshot costs, but theyr a lot of fun.
go huamn archer XD.
we need more comparetion =D!!!!
lol baxx you noobcake :PP
, there is too much of you HEs already :P
how many high lvl PRs are on server atm, 3 or 4 maybe. but everyone is HE or subs necro or SH or HE.

DE females look cool, yes. Poor Sultan thinks he looks cool too, but that's not the case. Sorry Sultan, I know i just made you cry ;)
So I take it that casters are cheaper to outfit compared to an archer? Not sure though if I want to be a SpellHowler or a Necro though...Probably I'll run a SH so I get to know the DE starter town for the DE archer :) Now how high a level can you solo to? Can I solo to first class change at lvl 20? I've read alot that you don't really meet people till you leave the starter areas and hit the mainland:)
Oh one last thing, i take it Tuesday is L2's maintance day? If so how long does it take usually? Thanks for all the help and posts by the way :)
It is true that Archers are expensive to maintain, not so bad when you hit B grade though, soulshot usage per shot goes way down then. To be honest it is better to just use a good dagger from 1 - 40 (both DE archers and daggers are assasins with the same skills until 2nd class change and kill fast). Much Cheaper, save up for your Emi Bow at lvl 40. That is when you get usefull Archer skills anyway. I actually used a long spear from 1 - 20...killing 5 - 6 mobs at a time gets you there fast. Need lots of heath pots or a good healer for that though.
All 3 archer classes are excellent in their own way. Each have unique advantages and disadvantages. And all will tell you their class is the best! LOL Whatever you choose to become your main, choose something you feel is the most fun to play!

Depends on the class. Certain Classes can solo all the way up. Others have a more difficult time of it such as healers/buffers.
But all the classes can solo to their first Class change (20) so don't fret that.
K so far thanks for all the help guys(gals). Anyway I now have two characters at lvl 6/7 ones a melee DE the other is a Mystic DE. My question is the melee hit lvl 6 first, will he be the new trainee for the bonus equipment? ANd if so if I delete him and re-roll him will the new trainee switch to the lvl 7? Thanks again:)
as for the class it really depends on the way u wanna play like if u wanna be a damage dealer or a supporter and if u wanna do that fighter or mystic wise.
all fighter classes are spendy but archers are the most expensive one
while healers/buffers are more saving classes (boring imo) :P
and my advice is if u ever joined a clan don't play a toon coz the clan needs it, play whatever u wanna play to have fun :)

I recommend either rolling a mage or dwarf first. The reason being that mages are more dependant on skill power and less dependant on the power of the weapon. And being a healer is even cheaper to setup than any other class. But I'd say the cheapest classes to outfit are the classes that aren't in demand, for example fist weapons are extremely cheap and so are daggers. But swords and bows are not cheap. Swords because they are used for duals as well as normal swords and most nukers prefer swords such as Homunkulus, Sword of Miracles and even Sword of Valhalla. Bows, because there are many archers and it's good for everyone but nukers to carry bows (hell even nukers should equip them incase they get silenced).
And stay away from the rogue classes (aka dagger users) because they are gimp right now and don't work quite like in WoW.
Well think I'm going with the Dark Elf caster. I have her to level 10 almost 11 and I'm running all the quests I can. Right now repeating the spore one and orc one and in process of doing the two lvl 10 ones. Look me up in game if you want (Altheaz) and if anyone knows a good clan thats recruiting I'd be more than willing to join. So far I'm liking the game. I thought the whole mouse control would bother me but doesn't seem to be to bad. ;) Well later for now.
