Wanted to know what i should be looking into as far as gear goes now that am a dark wizard. I am still wearing my devotion set with +casting speed. I have about 700k saved from killing myself with quest. I also am using that 1h wep thats a book, which brings me to my next question :P
Staff, 1h? what you guys use for your darkwiz going SH? Anyhow I just wanna ask on the boards first bcuz saving that money as my first toon was very hard. I don't wanna get riped off and hope to get some feedback on gear/wep selection.
Servers are always down on Tues for maintenence (or however you spell it). They should be back up soon.
If you can't afford anything else, keep the devotion set for now. The extra casting speed is a fine boost and some have even kept it until level 40. However, if you find yourself lacking in mana a Pdef, get some cursed robes (low D grade), which are cheap and available at Dion and Giran.
Also, what weapon do you have exactly? Is it non-grade or D grade?
If it is non-grade, always buy your weapon before you armor. With 700k you can probably afford a low-D grade weapon.
In later levels, shoot for a Knowledge set. Most of the time it totals to about 1mil, but it depends on the server.
Just spenfd your money on a weapon first. Buy in Giran as that is most oftgen the cheapest and best equiped place to buy the things.
You can upgrade your weapon from then on using the blacksmith Mammon and Ancient Adana you get while doing the 7 signs thing.
Dont forget to buy some jewels as well at a certain point in your career. There is only one set you want to have and that is the elven set. It will last you a long time.
I highly recomend Devotion, that nograde acumen set. A human wizard friend of mine used it until 37, when it got too dangerous. The +15% cast speed will help you out with your body to mind, corpse drain, and hp drain, which then helps your body to mind, which means you will get your mana back faster, which means you can kill again sooner. :D

Well this is great news then since i already have devotion so I guess now its all about just getting a decent weapon I guess. More money saved = goodnews
I do not agree with Woodsman about the Elven Mithril Robes set-- that set is hindering, if anything, to a wizard. Even if you manage to afford the horribly expensive gloves of the set (range from 450k on the cheapest servers to 4.5mil on the most expensive), the set isn't worth it-- the extra casting speed isn't nearly as noticeable as with a devotion set, but the -Int is noticeable when you see that you aren't quite able to 2-shot something you were able to before.
Get the knowledge set when you can afford it-- pre-40 I wish I had. The extra Matk is perfect for PvE, and you can always remove the gloves when sitting so you don't have to worry about the lowered mana regeneration.

I agree though, as a wizard the mythril set is not a good choice. But if you want more damage then get the knowlege set. If you like the speed stick with devotion. I used knowlege set and never regretted it because of the extra matk.
As for weapon, I would suggest sticking with a 1-handed mage weapon and using a shield (like a kite shield, cheap and easy to find). This comes from experience of running into ranged mobs, the occasional pvp, and occasional respawn right on top of you.
Btw, I have used elven mithril for my nuker. I loved the improved walking speed very much. But yes at the cost of atk power. However, the knowledge set has decreased mp regeneration and I hate sitting down much.
So I was not unhappy with it, I still could two shot most whites and greens and thats good enough for me. But for my C-set I will go Demon all the way :)

My mistake. I do not refer to the those D grade jewels as a "set". Especially when I wore actual top D-- Omen's Beast Eyes, Necklace of Darkness and Mithril Ring.
And who are you calling grasshopper, Mr. 314 posts? :D
