Regular fish gems are your gold. It's easy to get, you just have to fish for them...

I could hardly fish the mats for 2 dyes in more hours than you can think of fishing (460 thin fish bones is hard to acquire).
Bad balance, hasty rollout. Had you tried to test your new content for more than 15 minutes, you could have noticed your test settings were still wrong, and you were so hasty I felt how chicks react to a bad love session.

So far, in keeping track of my net fishing profits, I have made a little over 35 mil since C4 launch. Made Eyepatches, sold em for alot. Got lots of Fish Gems (not shiny) and sold em at 50k each (someone had a BUY shop for 50k :eek: ) and have an eyepatch of my very own. I <3 fishing, but I agree with DM, it needs alot of tweaking which should have been done LONG before the PTS. Come on folks, I figgured out that it was a stupid system (especially the dyes, what is up with that) within 10 minutes of fishing. The only money from fishing lies in selling Gems. Selling accessories is good too, but there should be a way to get the REC's without paying out the whazoo to people with Clan Halls.
And in response to you, I have fished enough mats for 3 eyepatches :). Didnt take me too long either, just gotta get the right lvl skill and use shots. I found it rather slow at first, but then I realized how much money I was making and I felt better.
As for S grade...I wouldnt know. I am still working on getting A grade, and it has taken alot longer than fishing for eyepatches :p
Well I might really go fishing soon. I just bought my pole and it was a bargain. I would have joined you sooner but the xp in c4 was too good and I was making 300-500K in adena per buff round. Pretty much all I did in PTS was fish and I'm afraid to start again cause it's so dang addicting.
mmh.i cant hardly sell POCF for 500a anymore. its as though people were shunning us.
well fishing is really the only thing a bored and unwanted nerfed bishop can do anymore. im clanless in devianne and i dont care! i can fish away the day not caring about a thing.
not even about how much moneys i make.
i sell my gems now 10k, im not greedy. ill lower the POCF price 50%, heck, i didnt pay for them in the first place.
having said that i really wish i could hit them dang caught sea giants worse than i do. i dont kill them every time, and most times i die to them.
might have been better off as a nuker fishing. hehehehe. ill just roll a lvl 1 fisherman >.> <.<

:eek: no bishop should be clanless! you should come be an umbrella with me ^^ ....and bring a friend fishing, i always drag some elf with me to be my bodyguard, thier all over and they never do anything useful anyway :D

The idea with such a hot commodity as fish gems, is a hostile takeover.
It's a farmer free market, and the ressource is rare. So here is what you do :
You fix yourself a price. You should take a look at the farmer's selling price (those who have like 600+ gems). They overprice, so they don't sell fast. Fix your target price under the farmer price.
Then you empty the market, buying anything lower than your price, leaving anything over your price. Then you sell at your price.
I sell ALL of my gems (usually one buyer) in 10 seconds to 30 minutes max.
Fish for some all the while to maximize your profit... Sell POCF as a side income.
yeah, fishing has so much promise, and it is kind of wasted, really.
proof of fish is good, though, and relatively easy to get. frankly, if that is as far as fishing went, I'd call it good, as it allows you to to expand on you wh, your recipes (for your dwarves out there), and your shops.
NCSoft decided to take it one step farther, however, and apparantly screwed up major. common craf is just crap. the accessories are one thing. on their own, not so bad, they are supposed to be rare and I guess I can live with how they set things up. the potions and dyes, on the other hand, have me scratching my head. the dyes are just cheaper and faster to buy from the merchant of mammon, and that is not counting the 11 recipes you'd need per tatoo. the potions, on the other hand, are just bass ackwards. the higher level of fishing you get, the less able you are to craft these things. which is bad, as the higher level you get, the more useful some of these potions get.
two things need to happen. one, the lesser valued fish items (non shiny fish gems, for example) need to be able to be fished up by high level people. lacking that, some way to devalue an item back down to its base form would help. two, common craft recipes need to be more, well, common. leaving the majority of the recipes in the hands of clan hall owners is a bad idea. make them be able to be fished up, or dropped from those mobs we caught would be nice.
not that I expect NCSoft to actually fix the problem before c6 or c7. they have precedent to uphold after all.
(shrug, on the matter of making money from fishing. proofs at 200 or 250 still makes decent money for me. otoh, I get 2k or more from 2 or 3 hours worth of fishing, so.... selling shiny fish gems at 15k or 20k works as well. not that had to pull down 500k to 1 million adena from a couple days worth of fishing.)
dont keep levelling your fishing mastery /pumping/reeling skills. keep them at one level and stay there.
mine are 10's and i can live with the catch. its actually fairly reasonable and spread out. i also fish with my NoGrade rod and shots, and i catch 90% of the stuff i hook. i loose lots of lures tho for some reason.
im using yellow, green, and purple all medium grade.
