i have been lagging out something rough on hindmith server...since when did it go high pop? and the freaking server use is always heavy...heres my point...is there ANY thing i can do to cut down on the lagging problem i am haveing..aside from turning down the in-game settings.
I get lag on Lionna fairly often even when I'm in a fairly unpopulated outdoor area. At first I thought It was just my computer crapping out but I turned down the graphics to low detail and I still have times when it takes the server over 10 seconds to respond to a command. Really annoying.
I have 1.7 Pentium M and my laptop has the Radeon mobility 9700 128mb and I have 1gig of Ram. Oh yeah Lionna had the best ping times for me too so I don't know what the deal is. Is this just something everyone deals with? Never had lag like this on WoW or FFXI.
Well the in-game ping doesn't show packet loss, and you have to understand that you could have 1Gbit to some ISP and still don't have a good working connection to other places on the internet...
...further on, it's obviously a network issue between you and the server (or heavy server load but I doubt that) if it takes 10 secs to issue a command. Check with friends across the globe if they have the same problem on that server cluster to try and see if it's global or just you and the people on the same ISP around the same area... remember the haunted level3.net probs ^^
Well I agree the ISP could be part of the problem. I do have broadband (cable) and sometimes normal browsing speeds can vary but I still dont' think I should be getting all that much lag. It could be though. It could be my router too. I'll have to try bypassing my router tonight and see if things improve. If most people on these forums don't have an issue with lag than maybe it is my network. Any other broadband user get lag?
Geting lag then and then, luckely it usualy don't last longer then a day or so, my normal internet acticities is usualy fine even thoght I got masive lag in L2 so most not my ISP's falt but it have hapened.
Worst I've remmember is almost 1,5 year ago, was so laggy for exactly a month was completly unplayable, the day befor my accont expired the lag just completly vanished, never had such problems again except some minor lag then and then... but yeah.
I enjoyed 2 weeks of the most smooth gameplay you could get, it actually felt like it wasn´t an online game. But then catatrofe stroke...
This past 2 weeks I´ve been having so much lag that it´s usual for me to die a couple of times during the week due to lag issues...
At this moment I just live with it...I've learnt to anticipate events, and it adds some kind of suspense, but doesn´t save me from a 5 min freeze then floor... :(
Since I haven´t changed anything on my pc or router, I guess that lag is a conbination of ISP and server issues.
I also play in hindemith...(supposely the least unpopulated server)
