So just going through some of the random site art and story art from the .co.kr and some other sites, and I think that tyrants are made for heavy armor.
Rumor has it that originally tyrants weren't supposed to wear any armor, we were supposed to have tats that served the purpose of armor but tyrants were too overpowered that way so we moved to light armor masteries. But now when you look at the few images of tyrants (other than screenshots) Tyrants are in heavy armor.
When loading C3 there was a tyrant in Maj Heavy and anthro nails..
Just wondering what the tyrants thought of this, I don't want to hear about Heavy armor being stupid for tyrants yadda yadda because ive been on since C1 and my tyrant is almost 70 and he rolls heavy. I'll take +200 pdef in exchange for 10 run speed and maybe 10 evasion any day.
Think it's no different than Gladiator with LA vs Heavy. Overall tyrant is DD and good armor that helps push ur DPS is a plus.
Think only differnce is lack of masteries and agile movement. AM only gives + Acuracy/+ RunSpeed but low P def. I'm sticking LA due to just my style and +Acuracy with 26 DEX works for me. Just wished AM ups evasion as well then would go +DEX or Zubei LA when soloing.
I think they did a poor job with the graphics for the lite armor. It seems the armor is always duller than everyone elses.
I would love to see tattoos on the body instead of leather armor. Personally, would love to see "GLOWING TATTOOS" that would match whatever "TOTEM" the Tyrant is in atm.
Either the above or fix the bleakness of the leather armor the Tyrant is forced to wear. The shamans get better graphics than the Tyrants do.
I dont have a problem wearing Lite armor. That 200 pdef IMO is lost when you have misses by the mobs. Each miss means you get to hit them down some more.
personally I think Tyrants should stick with light armor. Pdef isn't that much of a loss to them since they have massive Orcish HP. Also some light armor just has better bonuses than heavy. However I do see Tyrants wearing heavy armor, but mostly its Tallum heavy due to the bonus. Personally I think a Tyrant in NM light set would destroy most in its path, they are a powerful class when played with skill.
Tyrants are decent in PVE and horrible in PVP, even at level 78.
I think it is funny how many people have such differing opinions about the same topics. I have also heard that Tyrants, once they get into the upper lvls, are pvp masters.
I wonder if that is because of differing expectations or just that playstyles are different?

Thoughts?
funny you should mention this, my clanny who is a lvl 66 tyrant, brought this same point to me but i said "tyrants have light armor masteries for a reason, so they should wear light armor!" he told me that he was going to be differnt and wear heavy armor. My clan and I thought he was off his rocker untill he actually got heavy armor. DC to be exact,
and when he used it... he was amazing in PVE and PVP. In PVE he became an tank who could hold aggro, and PVP he became a DD with high Pdef, he killed a lvl 75 Gladdy, as I watched with surprise.
so the moral of this post is, don't always do what the "norm" says you should do, think outside the box.
Tyrants are just great for killing archers. They might not be able to 1v1 them, but who cares.. as long as he can cripple em so the rest of us can get to the guy, I'm happy. :)
Seems like a recurring trend in pvp now... rabbit totem, send the tyrant in to cripple as many as possible. Yeah its nice for mass pvp but im tired of losing 1v1. I'm just gonna push to 75, screw third class change and subclass.

Sorry, L2 is not about 1v1. You are pretty much always going to lose 1v1. Tyrant is not a 1v1 class.. if you want to win in 1v1 choose a mage class. Well that's not all together true.. you could also get a nice Bow.. that will help in 1v1.
Tyrants are fairly great against nukers for a melee class. It's very hard to win if they are attacking you from far away at first, but if you manage to get on top of them & land stun your chances to win are really good. At my nub level I attacked a necro in DV, he got in one nuke before I was on top of him. Stun landed, I hurricaned, charged up and used my ranged skill (because hurricane wasn't recharged) and bam, he was dead before stun was gone. Obviously he didn't have transfer pain going but this was because he was overconfident and thought he wouldn't need it. Then he came back with friends and pked me, but that's pretty normal with players. ><
I've had a lot of success against most classes on my tyrant. We have ******ed amounts of HP which help account for our total lack of pdef and mdef. It's just that once I come under focus fire, that's it, game over for me. But then again, what class lives under that kind of punishment?
Monk/Tyrants were gimped to hell and back in either prelude or c1, dont remember which. They ripped their evasion and some dmg dealing at that time. I used to play a monk and in TW Open beta and NA open they were fun as hell until they got the gimp. If i were still a monk Id be wearing heavy armor.

To spin that idea further, would be cool to see them alter the light armour textures for tyrants to have the upper body show different tattoos and maybe arm protectors, depending on the armour, instead of different strips of cloth and random armour bits... :)

Apparently you never fought one who knew what they were doing because they are **** near Gods in PvP at high lvls. Its true Orcs kinda suck at lower lvls but my God they catch up in the end. Compare a Tyrant with Bison going with a bow to an actual archer, lol. Even if Bison is a 60% HP or below activation Tyrants still have more HP than most classes at 60% :). See a Tyrant using his atk speed totem with full buffs (including SwS and BD) with a BoP with Quick Recovery SA.........they are a [censored] gatling gun.
Quite honestly I don't understand why a Tyrant would use DC heavy either but they do look wicked as hell in it.
Im confused by NCs choice of set bonuses for armour sets. In my opinion, to more balance the game, they should have made light armour sets DD sets, and heavy more tank sets. That way classes with heavy and light armour masteries can choose between haveing a lot of pdef but less attack, and a lot of attack, but less defence. But sets like tallum heavy take away from that. I still sometimes see glads in DC LA.. but I always wonder if what little extra damage you'd do in DC LA makes up for the pdef difference between DC LA and Tallum Heavy.
im not sure how much evasion a Gladiator gains from masteries but I assume they go light specifically for the evasion, which can be helpful vs. archers.
Evasion glads arnt to hot, humans naturally have ballz evasion. I wouldnt consider it, the only reason i have LA masteries is for my PL set, love that STR bonus..

Hmm? Tallum has +2 str, which is more than +4% patk and +8% atk speed which is more than +4%. You do lose 3 accuracy and 10 run speed for wearing heavy, though.
