took off my gloves (and blunt whine)

General Discussion Started Last reply 28 posts
ok im wearing bw (standard ws issue of course) and taking practically no damage where i hunt so i decide to take off the gloves and see what benifit the set bonuses give
i lost about 100 pattack and gained 1 crit, attack speed increased by about 10

when i run in and attack the mobs i seem to crit alot more and drop them faster because of the faster attack speed
it appears that 100 pattack adds about 10 damage per swing (or about 5%)

so tell me is str really that gimp compared to dex?

i wanted to get another +1 - 1 str-con dye to make it 5-5 but this has made me reconsider

i know ill never be a tank or a DD and at the end of the day my golem has done prolly double the damage i have
also realize that -8 con could be the difference between life and death where i hunt
but truthfully i avoid pvp with a passion and know its the difference between a mage 6 shotting me or 4 shotting me, not me winning

so should i just give in and get the +4 dex -4 con
get the +1 str -1 con
or go for the infamous +4 dex -4 str
i have bw heavy and a meteor shower with focus, i never ever lvl without the golem and always have se buffs

now the blunt whine
what is the deal with blunts what they have going for them is fast attack speed (not really fast) and accuracy
what they lack is damage, crit rate and critical range

an evasion class a few lvls higher than me can evade 8 out of 10 hits and when i do hit its for low damage and guaranteed not to be a crit

even ppl wearing heavy and a shield still evade so does anyone think the damage output is even close to duels or a dagger (with equal masteries)
i see the problem.

use a blunk with health sa, not focus.

this will offset your -con. granted it wont increase your damage output, you will bring your hp back to where it was before tattoos.

as to the damage question, blunts were meant to fight in groups. blunts and swords are used by tank classes and arent exactly meant to be for damage or speed classes.

and no, the damage output cannot ever be close to duals or a dagger. but no tank in his right mind would use either of those.
As a dwarf, if you want to deal damage go +5 STR +4 DEX, get an Tsurugi*SLS +4 and party with an SE, Prophet with crit buffs.

I can tell you this much, you will have an quite extream suprise of how much damage your little dwarf is able to leach out, in fact I usualy some time pulls from even BD's and so on ^^ thoght it all ends up who crit most on that mob :P

But yeah soloing, or playing alone without buffs, blunt give more damage.

Compared to an +3 AOBA, vs what I told you abow, with an 56+ SE or Prophet + BD, you have 50% more damage with the duals compared to blunt with same buffs. No buffs you have about 8% less damage.

PS I've done the mat quite a bit on this :P Plus tested it out in reality :) Only thing you lose on it, no hammer crush but that skill is so nerfed anyway.

My dwarf uses the exact same set up and she rips through mobs quite well actually. I use BW Heavy on her now but might put Tallum Heavy on her someday if I get bored. If you got the extra cash try this set up and get a highly enchanted pair of those duals and you will be very happy.
Wouldnt a 2-handed be better then duals as you have no masteries for either weapons? At least with the 2-handed your crits do full damage and not half like duals.

Dosnt mater at all, the problem rater lies in the damage of the weapon, only B weapon 2 handed is greate sword and second top B. On other hand encahnt it and it will have the same P.atk and atk speed and crit rate, so really no difference.
As a WS why would you ever want to be without a blunt? Your MP is going to waste without it, stun may seem nerfed at this moment, but I dont believe it is in PvE I stun quite regularly.

It is, and if your an WS, CRAFT!!! don't even stop craft LOL, your beter off dealing out more damage in a group with the setup described abow, stun is crap in groups.
Always nice to get over-hits tho...

I agree, I used BW and Tsurugi*SLS +4 till the the late 60's

My patk with blunt eventually surpassed my patk with the duals, sometime after level 65.
I like the idea of +5 str +4 dex and -con, so much so that i wouldn't mind putting that on my OL. I'm a pvp guy but there doesnt seem to be much of that going on right now. That is a huge pve set up
Well, at 68 as a BH I have a +8 Heavy War Axe with Health, Tallum Heavy set, and no tatts. With Prophet buffs my HP is still pushing near 8k(10k with swordsinger). I tank for my clan more often than not(we have 3 bishops in clan, <3 30% heal), but I also solo and/or train fairly often so Im sort of afraid to touch any of my stats with Tatts. It seems like any tatt I put on is going to take away a portion of what I do. I have this..odd feeling that Dwarves are already set up just about perfect statwise, and that any tatt other than a Men tatt is a waste(c'mon NCSoft, +men for dwarves!).

Yeah but just so you know, it's not about P.atk thers more to factor in there, atk speed and crit.
The deal here, if you got Focus and DW you deal almost 20% more damage with same P.atk with the blunt vs Duals, so for this to actually end up you need 20% more P.atk then the duals for the damage difference to become zero.

Btw my stats: http://lineage2.mugimugi.org/Shot00354.jpg A ton of HP dosnt make you a beter tank after all, what maters is to keep hate :P and +++ damage do that for a dwarf.
Crits on duals are an awkward thing, because its only half its potential power. with duals you need two crits in a row to make the same power as a two handed only doing one hit. Also with duals if one sword misses, which is quite often due to lesser accuracy, you waste a soul shot and you only do half your damage. Wait, why the heck am i playing a gladiator >.<

Yeah but thing is, 2 handed sword vs duals have same atk speed, meens the duals hit twice when the sword hit once, so in the end, it's just the same on the crits, dosn't mater at all.

On other hand yeah if you miss one atk with duals just half damage thoght, if you miss it with your 2handed sword thats 2 miss with a dual thoght the hit rate is the same :P Just hit mobs you barly miss, where I hunt mobs my own lv I miss maby 1/100 hit.

Wait, why the heck am i playing a gladiator >.<

Chicks dig us.
Of course i knew there was something i liked about the class.
I wonder how many chicks a duelist can pull in o.O
I bet the hero's will have it hard, all the creeps will be pm'ing em, i had a weird experiance on the PTS with the fans.. so many hoes so little time...

hence the problem. at 70+ you are left with nothing but a lame blunt right?

i have 2 hunting areas both in fod
if im bored ill go kill some vampires, they do some decent damage so i need to try and land at least 1 stun per mob or the se will kill its mp healing me and the golem
if i want some brainless hunting i go kill zombies and bone dudes, they do so little damage that even if i pull 4 mobs i usually wont drop below 80% hp
i pretty much never stun over there because with the meteor shower with focus any stun i do is just 1 less crit i could pull off

going -9 con will mean the zombies will stun me alot more and if i hunt near the vampires i have a nice chance of getting 2 hitted (double crit)

but i guess everyone agrees i should go +4dex +4str -8con
and not +5 str
/signed?
i plan to do the same (+4 dex -4 con) when i get a maj circlet only (beeing stunned sucks big time because there's a lot of stunning mobs... and i mean A LOT).
And BTW i find that meteor shower SA focus is amazing: I crit like 1/5 hit (with WC buffs). I don't feel the need to switch to duals... blunt masteries makes up for the P.attk diff at high level, and a shield sponges a lot of dmg over time.
If you like crit rate so much why not try using pole arm? Its slower but at least you can AoE, saves alot of cash on shots too.

because:
poles are slow: less attacks over time = less chances to crit.
poles don't have focus SA.... meteor shower does.

so i don't see your pointing poles when we're talking about crit rate.
More attacks over time if your hitting multiple mobs like 2-3, and you kill alot faster. 1v1 fighting it isnt good but 3v1 and it is great.
Also blunts have like a base of 44 crit or something disgusting even with focus they come to about the same as a sword/pole.
I've always thought Meteor Shower w/Focus was stupid. Does the focus even make up for the crit rate reduction blunt get naturally?

Anyhow.. I use an Elysian Axe w/ Health and Tallum Heavy. I frequently steal the aggro from the tanks, and if I hit the mob first I'll keep the aggro.

Probably because of my Tats.. +3 Str/-3Con +2Str/-2 Dex.

The health on the axe more than makes up for the -con, and the 2 points of dex aren't the least noticable. I don't crit much, but I swing fast, and hit hard. I don't know why you wouldn't +3str/-3con. That alone is about 60 points of patk and -300hp. 300 hp in the mid 60's is maybe 2 hits from a mob, and it's far less than 1 hit from any mage. It makes no difference at all.

When I tested with the +4 Tsu/SLS, it was significantly less damage than my blunt, and I had to give up my shield, which usually absorbs a couple hits per mob.
a dwarf solo aoeing isnt much faster than grabbing a golem and going 1 on 1
we have fairly low pdef so mobs really put a beating on us
not to mention 90% of mobs either stun or nuke so gathering trains is almost out of the question in higher areas

just in case anyone wants to know i grabbed +4dex -5con from the shop and threw it on (didnt want to shell out multiple millions just yet)
the extra damage i do is near non existent
might be a slight increase in crit rate but even with focus and a focused weapon i can still go 30 hits without a crit
accuracy and evasion? well dorfs have high accuracy with blunts anyway and nearly no evasion, no difference

there is a barely noticable difference in attack speed but generally its the difference between a mob pulling off a uber slow special or it lieing dead on the ground. most of the time they are dead so +++
what is very noticeable is the run speed, really doesnt take long for me to out run my se now but i also outrun the golem and hence get hit a few more times

should note i lost 900+ cp and hp and now stun easier than a spellsinger with -con
i suspect i will also sell alot fewer shots per night as well
Unless you're a dagger or an archer, dex is pretty much useless. As you pointed out, sacrificing con to raise it is a bad move.

In BW you should have your strength up to +8.. try that next.. go for a combination of -con and -dex. with BW I was doing a total of +8 Str/ -4 Con, -4Dex. I've always carried a /Health weapon to offset the -Con though.

With a blunt, you do your damage by hitting things and almost never missing.. not like other peeps who try to get their crit rate to the point where they crit every single swing.

Well I've maxed the possible crit rate I culd on my dwarf with the tatoos I described abow, I barly miss so that factor culd be counted out, it completly depence on what monsters you hunt, if you hunt dark red and so on.

As I said, I barly miss with my duals, and all I can say, I deal way more damage then with a blunt with buffs, without buffs a dwarf deal more damage with blunt due it's SA.

I described abow the exact fact of what hte difference is between an Tsurugi*SLS +4 and a blunt. You need an blunt and have about 1200 P.atk or so on it to compensate for the duals and prophet + bd buffs.
I think you hit the nail on the head when you commented on the mob types.

I hunt mostly in groups, so the mobs are a little higher lvl than ones I would solo. That might be part of the difference.

I also did my setup in order to account for some PVP, so I didn't want to beat my con down by too much. On top of that there may be times I may be called to pray on the relic.

For strictly PVE I prolly wouldn't mind blasting my con in favor of something else.. I might even go +4 Str/-4 Con, +4 Dex, -4Con.. even more so if I have a pocket prophet and BD. ;)

only praying i'll be doing is to actually see a relic
im full pve build thats why i could afford to go +4 -5 but if i like it ill go -4 later
accuracy on blunts is gimp since ive never seen a dorf solo anything but green mobs

and at 70+ all dwarves has only 2 choices, should i get a blunt or a pole?

seriously though IMHO +dex on a blunt is pretty gimp
ill take the halberd for a spin today and let you know how it goes
