Ok after thoughly reading the FAQ I have a couple questions that are not addressed.

1. Is there another way to target mobs?
Most MMORPG games i play, one key (i.e.TAB) targets the next nearby mob. So that makes it easier to do, especially in a group where other players are in the way of a mouse click. Currently I am aware of the /targetnext key, however, that just doesnt work (well). For one, you have to practically be right on top of a mob for it to work, and I chose a mystic, so my spell range is much farther than the allotted distance of /targetnext. So believe me when I say its very frustrating when I am grouping and can't click on the mob because my partner is in front of it getting their ***** handed to them due to my lack of participation since I am still trying to target. Any suggestions there?

2. Chatting.
I'm used to a MMORPG that when you either click the "@,#,!,$,/ , or ENTER" you are automatically taken to the chat window. Is there a way i can make this happen? I really hate clicking back and forth.

So far I love this game (made lvl 11 in one day!! - the day I got it)!! Still having a difficult time learning the new keys vs my other MMO, however those are small issues not as annoying as above. Not sure I really like the idea of not knowing how tough my mobs are, but hey, its like walking in a bar and deciding who to attack right? :p Before I get flamed with READ THE BOOK, I was so desparate to get this game I bought it from direct2drive - so its software only. Anyone have any good suggestions for reading (still reading most of the site right now) I would be greatly interested.

ps, No bumps please, if you got time to write "bump", you got time to help and inform me where to post this.
1. Targeting: When solo "point click" specially as a mystic there is no problem there. When partied you have a list of party members. put pointer on tanks name and right click. This is how u assist it will target the same mob your tank has targeted.

2. Im afraid that right now you have to select chat to chat. If there is any shortcut key I don't know about it.

3. play around with your hot bar with you skills and such. I have F1 attack F2 main nuke F3 secondary nuke F4 pickup. THose are what I use the most the rest on the hotbar I use my mouse to initiate. find a placeon your screen that works best for you. You can move everything around except the main chat window. Since C4 you now can move each chat tab anywhere you want it but your screen can get a bit crouded.

At your lvl you have plenty of time to figure what works best for you. As for mobs there is a list on forums that explains the color codes and such. Biggest thing to remember is.

Deep Blue=way lower lvl than you lowered drop and xp/sp.
light blue= Same but not as bad.
Green = lower lvl but no drop penelty but less xp/sp.
Whites = same or close to same lvl no penalty in drops xp/sp.
Yellow = higher lvl no penalty and more xp/sp
Light red = same
Deep red = dangerous lol be careful or in a good party tell you know what your doing.

When you target a mob click the little down arrow on the target screen it will tell you if the mob is resistant to any kind of attacks.

last but not least use search on here and look all over there is tons of great information that you wont find on official forums and anywhere else. Ask questions ingame and make lot of friends.
Since C3 there is no xp penalty from green mobs

Check the game options. X - Options - Game
There is a checkbox called "Enter chat" or the like. That will do exactly what you want.

Thank you!!
I will check into that :-)
Yeah, you uncheck the "enter chat" option, giving you constant chatting... need to use F keys for skills. If you check "enter chat" you can use numeric keys for skills and don't need to hit alt for hotkeys like alt+p and so on - but instead you have to hit enter once to start chatting...
Targeting just takes some getting used to, but I wish everyone in the game would do this:

Setup a macro to assist one person in your group!

Create a macro that is something like this:

/target MrDamageMan
/assist

This will first target that member of your group, and then switch your target to whatever they are targeting. You can also do this manually by right-clicking on their player stat window in your party list (you may have to double right-click, don't remember). I really wish people would just do this regardless. It is the best way to focus your firepower and make sure everyone is on the same target (and not doing annoying/dangerous things like waking up slept mobs, etc.).

That's my Tip O' the Day!
Since we are on the topic, I have a question on whether or not something can be done.

I am currently leveling up two characters at once. IE - I run two clients, group the two characters, have one auto follow while the other kills - thus leveling 2 characters at once and keeping them on equal par.

I do have a question after hearing about the /assist command.

Is it possible to have my secondary character auto-attack the mob that the character im controlling is attacking? I could set up a macro but is there a way to keep it looping?

The reason I am doing two characters at once is because my brother plays the game but he doesn't have near as much time on his hands as I do. This way I can level both of our characters up at the same time and not have to worry about him getting on one day and me being level 48 and him being 21.

That is a pretty slick trick! I will try that. the basis of my question is that as a spell caster, I have a longer range than the built in /targetnext, and because of that, i have to click on the mob. When soloing this is not a problem, however in a group it is difficult to click on a mob from a distance without clicking on your team mate, or god forbid (which happens alot) i click wroong and now im RUNNING like moron (LOL). I'll just have to figure a way to just move the camera around to see the mob and the click on it all in a reasonable amount of time. It would seem from the post, that this may be an issue that has to be left up to the programmers to change. I feel the /targetnext is a useful tool, however, I believe it may be more useful if the distance of its targeting was extended. Any opinions?
if you hold the shift key down while attempting to click a mob, or player and miss to hit the ground... shift will hold you to the spot you were standing on. this is also REALLY useful if your kiting and your character (like mine) tends to run back a few steps before firing his spell or arrow, just hold shift before pressing your hotkey and he wont move! and also, if you dont like the enter chat setting, you can just select the # Party or @ Clan tab on your chatbox and all messages you type will go to the tab you have selected. right clicking a group members name in party list will assist them automatically, double right click will send you up to melee that persons target. another way to target (although its somewhat tedious) is to stay in one area and have a target macro for the type of mob(s) your hunting example: /target Krator this however is unreliable in a group, because it will target any random Krator within range, not necessarily the one closest to you... it does work alright for solo if you run out of monsters, or are looking for another treasure chest, or /target will also work with NPCs in town, or even other players nearby, thats helped me loads with quest npcs in towns, especially crowded towns such as giran.
In a party you should do nothing else than assist the tank using the macro unless you are healer or tank. (Manually assist makes me tired and is annoying if you have lag.) Sometimes you don't assist your tank if he is slow and unexperienced and pick someone else.

Targetnext is only used if you get cornered by several mobs. You can then target them in order and concentrate on nuking at the same time.
another good tip, thanx! that definattely helped with the "random" running while targeting a mob.
