I am a WoW vet and decided to see what L2 has

bought game :-) (online, so no books)
Same day made it to level 11 (with a few kills that made me bounce form 9 -10 and back) - So far so good, very rich game. I play a mystic (I believe that is what they are called) Dark Elf.
Any suggestions for anyone else here who are WoW vets and how you made the conversion would be greatly appreciated. I am EXTREEMLY FRUSTRATED with some keys (targeting is a big one, as well as moving. remember the double mouse button move)
Welcome! Movement will soon become natural, just like any new game at first some of the keys and whatnot take a while to get used to. I actually LOVE the point and click movement now.

Targetting can be done several ways. If you have time, or want to pick someone out of a crowd, or see if they are nearby, use /target. To target me, you would type: /target Angdil
Out in the field, the cursor is usually used to target things (mobs, NPCs, objects.) Move your cursor over the mob until you see two grey balls, one on each side of the mob's name. Left click and the balls turn blue, meaning the mob is targetted. It will also appear as a red dot on your radar, and its 'health box' will appear at the top of your screen. If you have trouble getting the grey balls, move the cursor near the mobs name on your screen are circle around a bit.
If you left click again, or hit any attack hotkey, the balls turn red, signifying that you are attacking this mob. Note, spoiling or seeding a mob will initiate an attack immediately afterwards, unless you do a movement-click while the spoil/seed is being done by the game.
Movement using the point/click will quickly become very easy and natural for you. Give is a bit of time. The blue-compasslooking-thing marks the spot you will travel to.
You can click on the sky, and you will keep moving in the direction you clicked. Some folks say you will run only to the spot under the sky-spot, others say you will run forever in that direction. I don't know which, as I use this just to set a quick, but temporary direction if there are obstacles on the ground that make clicking there messy.

Im actually a vet on L2 just been a while since ive been on deleted game a ways back now im downloading it as I type LOL..have or (had) a 44 glad full plate duals...man! I hope hes still there :eek: well, I think you'll enjoy L2 good change of pace from wow see ya in game ! GL!
Targeting is part of the "skill" needed to succeed in say group pvp and pve emergencies... that's how I see it and that's why it's a bit on the "manual" side... makes things a bit more fun (except for the cheaters that doesn't have this problem).
Ditto dude, i'm from WoW. Officer in the Terenas' server top guild. Also got my 15k armour on my toon on guild wars, i gave up guild wars a while ago, and am quitting WoW. Bought the game online, and now i'm stuck trying to learn the controls. I h8 the fact that there is no interface or shortcut key customization. However; I guess i'll get used to it. Anywho, if there is any1 willing to pick up two lvl 10 or so mystics from WoW, send me a tell ingame. "Speaks" is the name or "SteelToe" or "ChoppyChoppy" depending on which toon i'm on.
BTW... why am i having so much trouble lvling a dorf fighter, is there something i'm missing? It seems that you have like 5 minutes of wait time after you kill 3 mobs to regain health.

Lvling a dwarf is a living hell if you aren't twinked as Ellie said or have a healer to party with. My WS is 58 and within the last month (after playing for 2 years) I have finally given up and created a buffbot on another acct so I can lvl at a decent pace.
You either have to love being a dwarf or hate life to pick that race lol. Let me know if you need some help :)
