First off, im a lvl19 Orc Fighter, in Gludin atm, where should I go to lvl? Solo or Party?
And second, about soulshots... how am i supposed to keep up with buying armor and weapons when I need expensive soulshots all the time?
I know adena-drops increase frequently, but hey i feel like I'm kinda stuck here with the economy, hope there's some nice quest-rewards for low-lvls out there...
Well, best thing you can do when starting out, is finding mobs that dont require you to spam soul shots. If your level 19, Abandoned Camp should be good for you, or the Langk Lizardmen Barrecks. I could be wrong though cause its been a while lol. Either find mobs that pay for your shot usage, or level slower and dont use the shots all the time.
I would also reccomend finding the threads about the Manor System, and look into trying that out to make some extra cash.
well, as for lvling, i would recommend abandoned camp, this should offer good xp all the way through lvl 25 or 26 if i remember correctly, and you can teleport there from gludin.

Why do you need them? Wanting them I definitely understand, but they really aren't a requirement to kill monsters...
And yes, there are very nice quest rewards for your level range. I believe they slow down around 25 and pick up again at 40, with a zone in the middle that has numerous quests but low rewards for each. You should be good for a little while, though.
Agreed, you shouldn't NEED them for a while yet. My first char in OB/prelude never carried more than 300 at a time, and used them for "oh hell" situations only.
Lol, I guess I've gotten kinda spoiled by allt the SS I've been carrying around so far from questing, when they dissappear... well let's just say you notice that they do
And sure, I don't need them. But SS = less downtime, and time is expensive in my case ; ;
there is a quest here from a gludin NPC who will give you 60a or so per Ole Mahum!
If money is his aim, I wouldn't bother with that one until 25. The money from some of the newbie quests, for example the Venom Sac quest in the Dark-Elven Village, utterly blow 60a/per away.
Dont know about the DE quests but at lvl 19 the wereolf and bear quests in Orkland were good. Booth bears and werewolf chieftains are in the same area (Frosen waterfalls), they gave me may be 6-10k a round just from quests. Each round being ~100mobs. And After i was done with those I had my newbie buffs ending soon, so I had to go to town anyways.
The only bad part is not to be able to manor there =(
Yes, using manor system can help A LOT, especially if you have luck and the current Gludio castle lord is generous with the crop buyback price. For example, just before the C4 launch, Gludio was buying Red Coda for 400, meaning you got 2 Varnishes from each one, and since Red Coda has a nice crop gain, you usually get 2-3 from each mob. That means you were able to get 6000a from a mob (ufcourse varnish was way more expensive back then :) ) O.o
Using shots is addictive. As you said, once you GET USED to them, you feel that the kill speed they give you is 'normal' and you are frustrated if you are not using them.
So do not get hooked. Really, why level fast? The game is fun at all levels, skipping early content to get to late content just means that you MISS CONTENT. Enjoy the journey, there is no destination.

I find the only time you should use SS is if your a cleric trying to level by yourself that can be difficult but in any other case you can kill plenty without them :)
I've read lots of posts that said not to spam ss's to make more $. I've always been in a 'rapid' leveling situation where I wanted to lvl quickly so I told myself it was necessary to spam ss's. I have a lot of experience with that.
I just did a little experiment with my dwarf alt...lvl 13. I'll write out details here...turns out u CAN make money while not spamming ss's....at least if you're a dwarf.
Here are the 'facts'.....
*i played without ss's from lvl 13 82.4% till i reached lvl 14
*it took 23 minutes
*i only hunted mobs light green to me...garum werewolves, goblin brigands, utuku orc archers.
*every mob was 'spoiled' before it was attacked
*i ended up using 4 ss's (at 8a each or 32a spent)
*i ended up using 2 lesser healing pots (at 105a each or 210 a spent)
*total "Cost" = 242a
*i made 1758a
*i also got as drops 1 animal bone (75a), 1 silver nugget (250a), 3 coal (100?), 1 thread (50), 22 wooden arrows (1a each).....697a
*i also 'earned' 7 recipes (5 leather tunic), 2 broadsword blades, 4 more coal, 3 lesser healing potions.
*finally, since i was questing goblins and orcs--i got 3 chrysolite ores and 11 goblin necklaces, and 2 'suspicious memos'.
so--in 22 min I netted more than 1516 adenda plus rec's to sell, mats, and quest. (figure about 2500a worth)
I've never played without spamming ss before so it was instructive to me.....a bit slow...although not as bad as I thought.
I realize dwarf spoils cause more drops but still...this was more significant than i thought it would be for 18% of the leveling up i intended to do anyway.
Lesson learned (a bit).
well..i was conservatively listing shop prices rather than resale prices. You are correct--if I were really selling those mats to pvt sales it would be higher on lionna too.
