Well I have a lvl54+ Prophet and a lvl44+ SE, I 3box and have a good time.
A lot of ppl, ask for buffs and usually I just give it to them.
Now I'v seen ppl asking for payment for the buff service, so what would ppl actually pay for buffs?.
A lvl56 Prophet has all the top buffs, only the BtB anf BtS are evolving further as the lvl raise.
A SE lvl44+ has VR2 and Emp2 so combined with a lvl56 Prophet that is some nice buff stack.... which I of cause have as it's my box :)
Some ppl talk about 5k FOR EACH buff??? is that realistic?
Lets say u give a fighter Shield3, Might3, Focus3, DW3, guidance3, Regeneration3, BtB, Mental Agis4, Magic Barrier3, Haste2, Invigor3, Bless Shield3 and a VR2 from SE that would cost 13x5k = 65k for each buff round???
I must add that 65k is a lot of adena, but GOOOOOOD **** those buffs are nice, the difference hunting with full buff and without is absolutely stunning.
Even if u add Zerk2(and together with VR2 to regain lost HP) to the stack, the kill speed is **** fast, compared to no-buff of only pots-buff.
That would sure add up a nice income for the prophet/SE.
I think I once saw a PP have the title "PP-52 buff=35k"
I am embarrassed for you. The thought that you would need to sell buffs is outrageous.
1) when you are in a party you get 3X the loot everyone else does cuz you have 3 toons in the party.
2) When not in party, just you and your boxes, you get 100% of all drops and adena.
He's not talking about when he's in a party, he's talking about every idiot in town running up and screaming "Give me buffs!" all the time ****. I think buffers should be able to charge yea just for being annoying.
Well I think multiboxing should not be allowed... but aside from that you're free to charge whatever you like for your buffs... as long as people are dumb enough to pay. :p
I have a PP box, and yes people do run up to her always asking for buffs, and more often then not, they get them. I would never think of charging for buffs. Some of us remember what it was like to be lvl 15 and having to live with self buffs because there were no Newbie Helpers. I remember the first party I was in... Cruma Tower... that had a prophet with the Haste buff. OMG! KILLZORS!!!
Anyone on Sieghardt who needs LVL 64 Prophet buffs, give me a shout. Free of charge.
I charge 20k when i'm in the high level areas as it's a drain on my mp which i can be using for other things. Generally that works out to be about 25 mobs which someone should be able to kill in 20 mins.
I have a EE at lvl 66 with 55% rez. I sell my rez for 20k per character. And if you are in a lvl3 clan, you can post the titel above your head with "Sell Buffs 10K" or something like that, so that the people know, that you ask money for the buffs..So that you don't get people annoying you for asking free buffs!!!
I consider it ok to sell buffs, but lets be reasonable. A swift potion is worth like 15k adena, so I suppose a full set of buffs would be ok for 25k or sth. Prob is most ppl buff for free, so you won't get too many steady customers:P
I have a pal on Erica who makes a point of putting the 'pay me for buffs' crowds out of business. Whenever he sees one, he hollers 'free buffs' until the greedy one goes away.
And 2 cents on recs...I rec for good deeds. Only for good deeds. Trading recs for recs, money, buffs or anything reminds me of trading smooches for money....there is a name for people who do that.
I have NEVER charged a single adena for a buff, but some times ppl trade adena to me even though I dont ask for it. And of cause I DO NOT CHARGE FOR BUFF when I'm in a party.
In a party my job is buffing(PP+SE), melee(Battle-PP) and nuking(SH), and all other "outsiders" has there functions aswell(archer, nuker, tank, etc.).
I get 3 times the drop, but I also provide 3 times the support, AND I also have 3 toons to maintain with gear etc. I also did ALL the lvl'ing for the 3 toons manually, no big-boom or other "short-cut" here ;)
Most of the time I 3box in party with 2-3 more ppl, they dont know that I'm 3boxing. I use pure macro-controll and its super fast.
When I tell them that I 3box, some of them even dont belive me...... I guess they dont know the power of well organized macros.
They say "You cant be 3boxing, you are doing full fighter buff + VR/EMP and BtM at the same time???" well as I said MACROOOOOOS (and a good use of the /delay command).
So I buff all I can in party first, and if there are any mp left I usually just buff some rendom person, even though he/she dident ask(NOT with zerk :) ).
In starter towns I buff all I can for free, mainly the ppl in D-grade, because they have usually out-lvled the newbie buff assistance.
I actually love the happy shouts I get when they get full high-lvl buff.
I actually quite often just stay at the GK or walk around in the low-cities (Gludin, Gludio, Dion) and buff all around me. All because I remember how it was in the low lvl's all soloing with no backup at all.
theres nothing wrong with charging for buffs :p for those who dislike it, there will always be free buffers around if you look for them. however, i can fully sympathize with the "buff pls kkthxbai" attitude soo many people seem to have. fully buffing a person does cost MP, and it is irritating having to stop what your doing to buff someone. in towns i usually dont mind so much, personally though i would never charge more than 15k... especially not to lower level characters, profits are a little low from hunting alone in this game, and the idea of a buff is to help the person hunt not cut a hole in thier pocket :p
--on a side note, i would MUCH rather be begged for buffs than begged for adena or gear, i HATE people who want stuff for free that i had to work my *** off for grr
Well I think multiboxing should not be allowed... but aside from that you're free to charge whatever you like for your buffs... as long as people are dumb enough to pay. :p
Cal
Sooo having 2 account, or more shoudnt be allowed ?
lol
5-10k for a set of buffs seems reasonable, I know I've payed that without thinking many times in my EG days... and I've even tried selling for that as well with my prophet, mostly when there's no other buffers around just to provide the service and chatting around. People pay and if I don't charge, I never have mana to buff the people asking...
...of course, it's a difference if one is out hunting at some field with low population, as the occasional askee doesn't really drain much mana. Usually I buff the ones that can ask in a polite way and doesn't cut it down to three letters and some exclamation marks.
Higher level hunting grounds may also be rather different, with higher dues being reasonable - also seems to depend a lot on the server ^^
I've never charged for buffs, never asked for recs. I've had people try and trade afterwards but I ignore it. Don't ask politely, you will be ignored. Don't at least say thanks, it will be your last time.
As for summoner buffs, I don't pick and choose. I have 2 macros; one for mages and one for fighters. Don't like my buffs? Don't bother me again. If you want something specific? Ask for it.
I would have no idea how to buff a summoner, as we have none in my clan and I've never hunted with one. I just have 2 macros: one for mages and one for melee.
I have never charged for buffs with my SE or Prophet. If I have the MP to spare, I'll buff. Otherwise I'll tell them to check with me later.
However, I have had people drop money on the ground in front of my Sorcerer and they ask for buffs. They aren't too happy to get Shield/Might 1 and Blazing Skin.
I don't know what server u guys play, but on bartz we have a place called buff hill. It is the steps from cem to fg. Anyway there are always a few buffers around selling buff.
Prices I remember:
Prophet Buffs (Fighter): 8k
Prophet Buffs (mage): 6k
SE VR: 6k
SE emp/WM: 7k
A friend told me that if he sat there all day he could bring in 2-3m. Not bad adena for just hanging out.
anyway that's about how I remeber it. I have my own se now, so I don't watch buff hill as much as I use to. x-road buffs are usually done with recs or 2-3k.
Selling buffs to a party is just stupid and I can't imagine anybody EVER letting a prophet in a party who tried to pull that. Selling to anybody else is perfectly fine. When dwarves stop crafting for free, buffers should stop buffing for free.
By the way, you can always tell a real prophet from a boxed prophet by how he/she buffs a summoner. Boxers have no clue.
Most real prophets, and buffers in general, aren't sure how to buff summons/summoners. It addition to being a class that's not exactly ubiquitous, summoners can have different styles and the buffs can depend on which summon they're currently using.
While I don't see anything wrong with charging, I've never bothered. In a trio with two nukers, my little DE buffer (in light armor) has enough MP to keep all three fully buffed and recharged and still toss out buffs on the occasional passer-by.
I don't party much outside of my friends, so I'm not sure what other buffers are doing differently to cause them to be so low on MP all the time.

well I rarely give or sell buffs with my se. I need every mp to keep my regen at full. Sure I could b2m & heal take the occasional rest... cld and do all kinds of other mp management, so my se would have plenty of mp to buff others too, but I'd rather just b2m when I get enough hp, recharge with the se and cdl until 75.
I guess I do give out an occasionaly emp or vr to a member of a clan that I like, but I wont give the full spread... too much mp.
A friend told me that if he sat there all day he could bring in 2-3m. Not bad adena for just hanging out.
Lame.
oh?
Yes. It's lame that people would pay that much. To the buffers, more power to 'em.
well 8 k is quite reasonable for full prophet buff... i mean haste 2 pots are like 15k or something... and vr/emp is worth quite a bit by themselves.
These are buffers who just sit at buff hill and buff whoever. They aren't getting xp or adena from a party. It is amazing how often you will hear people shout asking if a buffer is at buff hill... these guys are loved.
I buff as a WC when i feel like it. The good thing with us buffing people in hunting grounds its that it is like 30mp more then just self buffing. Sometimes I even tell them to come back in 20 minutes. and on other hand I can always tell "out of mana here", everyone knows that orks need tons of MP to buff ;).
When my other chars are being buffed I am aproprietly gratefull: saying thanks, /social bow (especialy on my dwarfy, like the dwarfess emotes), and rec (many ppl value them).
Then again, I "speak" in complete sentences and offer my gratitude to the kindly prophet, SE.
OMG, someone gets it! Sorry... Had to clean myself up after reading that post.. lol.
I will buff anyone that takes the extra 3 seconds it takes to type a complete sentence. Is it really that difficult to understand [real] buffers are not your entitlement to buffs? Seriously, a complete sentence asking for buffs and a kindly thank you goes a loooong way and is usually very appreciated by the person you are requesting buffs from.
The day a party prophet charges for buffs is the day I charge to cast my nukes.
I don't think that day will ever come, but should it occur, I think it would be more beneficial to charge in experience. Specifically, to charge in one dead prophet's worth.

lol
I suppose if I had a lvl 56+ prophet I would offer to buff out of party for a certain amount of adena... maybe 90k per buff round. That would be kinda reasonable I suppose, but in party... lol I might pk them for asking.
I play a cleric, and I dont charge for buffs. I do have a policy of never buffing out of party. I see my main job in a party is to buff and heal. So, to buff out of party is stupid. You dont see people asking a knight or a rogue to hunt out of party, so why should I? While Im hunting solo, if I can spare the mp Ill buff. If not they I tell them to come back later. I have no mp. While Im in town, I have no problem buffing anyone. No need to pay and no need to rec.
For all those who need buffs that play on erica, my name is Spelly. Feel free to ask.

I have never payed for buffs except a rec. Never will Ill grind with self buffs before paying for buffs. Its a waiste. Im more than happy to have a buffer tag along while I grind and help them lvl it helps me too.
Unfortunatley you have a point and there are many players out there that will pay for buffs.
i think if i had a prophet and one ask me friendly i would to it for sure for free.
otherwise if one come and say: BUFF!!! BUFF!!!!! , than i would ignore him completly/want a fee

Yep agree...... The claric buffs are .... well nice to have, but not really serious.
But the Prophet buff, lvl52-56 IS A FULL RANGE OF HIGH LVL BUFF and it totally rules.
Now that my prophet is lvl54+ I must admit it was a hard struggle getting there, but from now on I have my private buffer, so all my alts will be lvl'ed out of party prophet/SE, just sitting there waiting to recharge that little low lvl alt :).
And GOD **** it really makes a huge change with full high lvl buff :) :) :)
Also all my low lvl clan mates I usually do a support trip with them. They can keep the kill speed up constantly with no problems, even without using shots :)
I have a clanmate who Is partying with a lvl44+ SE to get Emp2 + recharge.
He is annoyed that he has to share all the adena/drop with the SE, because as he says "I do all the killing, using tons of money on shots..... and the SE just sits there".
I must say I could not disagree with him more.
Well yes he do use adena for shots, but he also saves a lot by getting the EMP2 + Recharge.
So I told him that If he dident like what the SE offered he could just stop partying with him....... and guess what..... he still parties with the SE :)
The minute you start charging for buffs dont be surprised they will charge you back for leeching off xp in comb parties while they do all the grinding and you cant do squad exept for some healing and buffing and sitting on your *** :)
It's really funny... I know people who have come here from EQ and were confused at all the free buffing going around. Apparently, where they were from, you didn't just buff someone for free (unless you were partied with them). Buffers would stand around town selling their buffs just like any other commodity. He was down-right mad that he couldn't make money as a prophet that way.

well that's cause you're a cleric :)
give it a few lvls... you will get cynical
No I wont. Ive been a prophet. Ive just quit the game cause I got tired of it, and was stupid enough to delete my chars. Now I have to start over, and I can say I have never sold my buffs, and I never will.

Seriously there is no good reason why a prophet can't charge guys for buffs. Do dwarves craft for free?
Why should someone woul took the time to level up a prophet feel any obligation to give out buffs for free to every whinning crybaby they come across. Leveling up a prophet is dull and tedious especially in you do it now when you often don't have others to hunt with at the lower levels. When I leveled up my prophet I recall vividly the times I shouted for group and was ignored by folks for higher level buffers or just cause they didn't want to split xp and thats fine cause I will never give them buffs. Only people I buff are friends and those that helped me level the prophet even if they are currenlty enemies I will buff.
Oh andyes I remember the days of leveling at CT and finding buffers charging 10k a buff round and I vividly remember my days of grinding solo and buffless.
Don't give away your buffs for free people are getting to needy and expectant on it now. Everytime I go through Dion I here shouts "any buffers in town buffing" Not glf buffer just free loaders DON'T reward people for their laziness or for being a mouch!
But to answer the oringinal poster to be fair look at who you are buffing and what they can/can't pay. No reason why toons that are low 20's and in top D grade gear can't pay 5k per buff same going you see someone in B grade wearing mid C gear charge them 10k a buff round or even pity buff them for free.
That does raise a good point. If a random person in town can give you buffs that'll last you 20 minutes, and he isn't going to take any of your experience or adena to do it, that's 20 minutes that you have little or no reason to have a buffer in your party.
It doesn't affect me one bit, since I have buffer friends and two buffer alts, but...this honestly does sound like a less-acknowledged reason why buffers aren't as popular live. They're easily eclipsed.
Then again, I "speak" in complete sentences and offer my gratitude to the kindly prophet, SE.

/steps off soapbox.
No kidding. If im on my sh, I hunt in out of the way spots, where there is no KSing and very few people to ask for buffs. I dontmind, but I usually need all my mp from my SE to charge/buff myself.
When I am on my BH or WS, I am aoeing with a pole arm, leave me the hell alone. I don't mind if they wait a few minutes to see what the situation is, if I can I buff them, but this usually has 2 negative effects. They immediately run into the empty room I just cleared and proceed to hunt the spawns, or they tell their friends and come back. For this reason alone, I only aoe my dwarves in odd hours when most people are sleeping. Usually though, these people are not asking politely, or asking at all. They demand buffs and are utter [censored] when you won't do it. I've gone red on one or two of these guys in my time :)
1. if you see they are a swordsinger or bladedancer and they bug you, make sure to buff them fully with everything including invigor and kiss of eva and the resists, and when you do this make sure to put haste focus and deathwhisper first, so when they dance they are pushed off. :) Maybe they will get the hint and stop asking.
2. Make sure to show off your level, cast Resist Poison on them, so they can be in awe of you grinding out 60 levels for that uber buff!!!
3. Run around with the title Bishop, some ppl will leave you alone.
4. Today was one of my favorites, Dark elf started following me around hunters village, and kept saying buff me buff me. Well I was playing my overlord, so I said no problem, you want to join my clan?
5. I can't stand when people come in and start asking for you to buff them when you are fighting and keeping your party going. I'm just like can't you see I'm busy? Or I just buffed a party of 9, where do you want me to get the MP from?
Oh well, I just hate the way people bug you, and are rude about it, and I have been pk'd once buffing someone, back in my level 20s days. People don't like to be told to sit down if they want buffs.
People use to charge 5k for 50 something buffs in EG, it was well worth it. At the high levels people sometimes throw me buffs as a sort of friendly gesture. I don't mind SE's or PP's charging, I don't have to pay after all.
I think I will reconsider about NOT charging for buff.......
I'v been at FG an I get like a billion ppl asking for free buf, some of them are plain rude :(
It kind a irritates me, because it takes a lot of my playing time, where I should be lvling my 3 toons.
So I think I will test it by setting up a shop selling bone arrows for 15-20k and then buff who ever buy a bone.
.... just testing now...... to see how ppl react on that.
Then again, I "speak" in complete sentences and offer my gratitude to the kindly prophet, SE.

Pff this is just more time for me to target...and ice bolt o.o
I think I will reconsider about NOT charging for buff.......

If they ask nice and gently no problem, if they act like digheads well no buffs for them.
In the end you are the one who decides who gets the buffs not them.
First let me start out by saying that I have never charged anyone for buffs with my level 68 SE on Hinde, not even a rec....although often people rec anyway.
However, I can easily see why people DO charge. And remember, we are talking outside of party buffs here, not to current party members.
A fighter or mage can go off and happily solo for 20 mins if someone has been kind enough to buff them and not have to share any of that loot or experience...how many prophets or SE's get to solo past mid levels?
We still have to pay for gear, ports, shots and everything else that other toons have to pay for...in fact I have to pay for both ss and sps if I want to do more than sit on my butt in between buffs/heals in a party.
Nobody seems to mind that dwarves charge to craft, in some cases very high amounts. Just look around Giran crafting area and you'll find people charging anything up to 500 adena to craft 450 BSS or 300 SSA...more for sps. Why should a prophet or SE be frowned upon or shunned for trying to earn an honest living by using their skills the same as the dwarves do?
As several of my alliance members have mentioned to me when discussing this...how much does a Greater Haste Potion, Greater Swift Attack Potion or Greater Magic Haste Potion cost to buy? They last the same length of time as a buff does so why should a buffer not reasonably ask for a % of that cost?
I haven't slept much and probably rambled and repeated previously stated opinions, for which I say meh hehe. I basically just wanted to say to a few people in this thread ...please, before you condemn judge fairly lol.
