is there a web site that tells what skills the phantom summoner summons get ? I hear some of them can buff and such and am interested in looking it up.
Buffs are:
Servitor might
Servitor Shield
Servitor Haste
Servitor magic shield
Servitor cure (works for bleed and poison)
Servitor blessing (para)

Pets are:
Shadow
Silhouette
Nightshade
Soulless
Spark cubic
phantom cubic
Mass phantom cubic

You can find an exact skill list in the librar section of this site.
Shadow - Passive Vampiric Rage
Silhouette - Blood Drain (somewhat weak)
Soulless - Plague Cloud (AoE poison), Parasite Burst (AoE blast needs a corpse)
Nightshade - Curse of Shade (Single target hate + p.def/m.def debuff), Mass Curse of Shade (AoE version of the above), Sacrifice (shade's hp heal rather strong :) )
my bad i misread yoru post

Shadow:
15% VR passive, no other skills

Silhouette:
Steal Blood- vampiric claw, though without an SE with you it's fairly weak.

Soulless:
Parasite cloud- AOE poison, quite strong

Corpse burst- just like it sounds, makes a corpse explode, can't sweep or CLD a corpse if you do this

Nightshade: sorry dont' know the name for most these
hate/hex- note the hate part of this spell works in PVP

Hate/hex Aura- PBAOE version of first one

Sacrifice of Shade- Huge heal, roughly same as a bishop's and very fast. Takes HP instead of MP.
I'm pretty sure Nightshade's skill is also Gloom on top of Hex. Gotta make sure next time in Coli.

Shadow - Passive Vampiric Rage
Silhouette - Blood Drain (somewhat weak)
Soulless - Plague Cloud (AoE poison), Parasite Burst (AoE blast needs a corpse)
Nightshade - Curse of Shade (Single target hate + p.def/m.def debuff), Mass Curse of Shade (AoE version of the above), Sacrifice (shade's hp heal rather strong :) )

thanks thats what i was looking for. Nothing neat and useful to the group like queen the cats blessing?
Euh, only the bishop strength heals ...
oh one more question sorry, have only played melee classes. I assume I play my PS like a nuker till 40 cause thats what he is, robes and such. At 40 should I switch to light armor since my servitor refreshes my mp?
sometime between 40-44 swap to light, it's actually kinda hard to level melee till 44 when you can cast haste. Also yes the shade curses affect mdef as well as pdef.

For a weapon i'd recommend duals or a 2-h sword till you get higher level, at 61 i swapped to a dagger and i love it, with focus i do great damage and a shield is great for PVP.
As a PS, your servitor doesn't refresh your MP.
PS servitors do not recharge their masters.
Not an issue at 40, CLD and B2M are sufficient to keep you up, even after that it's amazing how quickly i can regen MP.
so thats a yes swap to light. Also what good is the sillhoette if the claw is weak? its the onle that takes 90%?
It's for farming.

The nuke isn't weak (if you have empower), and it's a good way to farm some cash, since shots for nukes come cheap.
which pet out of those is best for pvp? and so far Elemental, and necro seem to have the advantages....whats PS advantage? Do the pets do more melee dmg than the other pets? I mean hands down they look the coolest, but will I dont want to suck pvp. I dont have to be god but i dont want everyone and their 90 year old grandmother to own me :)
I'd suspect you'd go with Nightshade for mass PvP (to cause general confusion) and basically any of the other three for small-scale (basically whatever you happen to have out when -_- hits the fan).
Shadow takes longest to kill of them all (that VR really makes the difference) as long as he's able to hit anything.
Silhouette is cheap and expendable "throw me at the enemy and then throw me 38252 times more" type
Soulless is good at hunting archers (202 speed ;) ) and hits the hardest, but is also as easy to kill as silhouette so don't expect him to survive long if someone targets him
Nightshade has a crapload of HP but still robe level p.def, he's pretty much annoyance with his Hate working in PvP, and can also work as a healer (don't expect him to kill anything as he's even more gimped than TK in damage output... and that's with might 3 on him -.-)
so ill be leveling normaly with shadow? it has best pdef?
Pdef is roughly same for all. You'll be tanking not him. Though with SS he can tank alright on most mobs if you're soloing and using shots you might as well be doing yellows or pinks. in that case you tank using TP and light armor.

But yes shadow is the normal solo pet, the other pets all have issues with solo. Silhouette is often used but she is not for XP but rather for farming money. In regards to her nuke, the spell power is not lacking just her matk. If you have a SE with you then she's actually quite good with the nuke though the slow cast and bad cooldown make it merely alright.
ah I see. Is it easy to keep aggro off the servitor? We dont get any nukes after 35 do we? Cause I use those to pull aggro off im?
This is some interesting discussion for sure, but I'd also direct you to http://www.l2pets.com ; their forums are probably one of the best for pet and summon related information. I'm sure most any question you'd ever want to ask is there. :D
it's super hard to pull agro off of yoru pet once he takes it, pets gt a lot mroe agro per damage than a player so my standard tactic is to pull mobs with wind shackle (3 mp) and then get in a hit or 2 before shadow attacks.

That'll keep agro for a decent amount of time and gives shadow enough time to regen his Hp via VR, wont' work that well on reds but up to pinks this strategy works very well.
k thanks a lot, im thinking of actually quitting and making a necro thanks to the pages here in the library. Necros get nukes, sleeps, curses, AND pets? is there a down side or are they just that much better?
Necromancers' servitor heals and buffs stop at 35.
Necromancers do not get Light Armor Masteries.

If you like a nuking summoner and can count on parties to supply buffs for you, then necromancer is very likely the more effective choice.

If you like a melee summoner and soloing, Phantom Summoner is likely to suit you better.

...and nothing stops you from doing one of each, either ;)
I want to melee, but i want to party =( my gf plays an elven elder and i wanna group with her and my pal who plays a temple knight. It says nightshade only takes 5% and soulless only 10% xp? cant I use those in party?
The best way to take aggro off your pet are critical hits and status effects (curse: chaos and sleep come to mind). It's still nearly impossible.

but is also as easy to kill as silhouette

Considering the desparity between their HP and the lack of Soulless life drain, I would say it is much easier to kill, actually.
i dont see the point in killing yellow > reds..

i actualy got MORE xp by killing white mobs than yellows.. (they both was 1x mobs)
and the white i killed alot faster..
Definately and actually EE buffs are great for a PS. you already have plenty of melee ability so more def rocks.

If you group with a TK and an EE i'd recommend using soulless. he's a great DD. have the TK tank everything and the EE do buffs and heals. i only use nightshade and soulless in groups. in groups that want to pay, which is all alliance ones, i use mass cubics too.

Soulless is better patk than an equal level archer, lower crits but faster attack. Nightshade is actually the most damage per soulshot but he's pretty weak attack wise. He allows you to be a healer and a darn good one too. Soulless is more costly than shadow to summon, nightshade is too but not as much. Both are incredibly useful and fun to use.
with shots whites tend to die too quickly for efficient hunting unless they are 4 or 5X
thanks a lot, then ill stick with my PS :) Any good leveling guides you know of? like where to go and what to kill? as I said i've only palyed melee and all the stuff i fought seems to be magic resistant, zombies in SODA till 18,zombies in ROD till 23-24, This is tough, dang M. atk resisters!

Then I think you want a PS after all. PS is, without a doubt, the better melee summoner of the two.

My "party" comment was not to say that pure summoners can't party--in C4, they're actually quite nice to have in a party, although they lose 5-10% experience.

My point was that necromancers are basically reliant on outside buffs if they want to play as a summoner instead of a nuker, while pure summoners do not need outside help to fill that role. Thus, a pure summoner can be "summoner" while solo, while a Necromancer needs a party for it. Both can be effective while partied, that isn't a question anymore.

As a Dark Mystic, I'd recommend the mushroom quest, then the SoDA skeleton quest, then the spider quest. Nothing magic resistant there and nice profits.

Personally I skipped the skeleton one and went straight to the spiders, but I had excessive gear and consumables.
ah, what changed in c4? i just started in c4. I played from open beta to the end of chron1, didnt stay for 2. just came back recently durring chron 4.

the spiders are no longer good xp for me, this is the level i usualy moved to ROD. need 20ish mobs.
For PS in parties: reduced experience penalty for Soulless; added Nightshade; added mass cubics; party buffs gained the ability to affect summons.

Also nice: added beast SS/SpS; added Unsummon and Move To commands.

If you like adena, the spiders are good until around 24 and not too shabby on experience, but if you're beyond that or not hurting for money...
Nothing in the Abandoned Camp or Orc Barracks is magic resistant, those can be fairly crowded areas though. Cruma Swamp might also be a good option.

I definitely wouldn't recommend the ruins to a wizard unless you're going to pick-and-choose targets.
