I realize that this is probably already beating a dead horse, and asking again would just beat this topic WITH a dead horse, but I searched, and couldn't find anything, so here goes.
How do you share replay files via instant messaging or email?
simply find the replay folder and send them the one you want them to watch. Then they place that replay into their replay folder, boot up L2 and watch using the replay feature on the main menu.
(hope this makes sense)
Oh and if you can't find the replay folder in your L2 directory just do a search. My c4 replays and screenshot folders ended up in
C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Replay
Yes, I'm well aware of where to find the file, and how to share it with other people with the l2 client, but is there a way to share it with people that don't have the L2 client?
No. You can make a fraps of it and send that, but it will require a lot more space and of course the software to do it. The .l2r file is just a set of information that your PC would recieve while in game letting your L2 Client know where people are standing, and what actions are being taken. This is why it is so small. All the toon models, animations, and landscapes are actually in the L2 program and is needed to play back the l2r file.
Correct. The person who wants to watch the replay needs to have the L2 client installed, because the replay file is just a list of instructions about what to show on screen. All the graphics, sounds etc. are contained in the l2 client (that's why it takes so much hard disk space!). So when somebody who does not play L2 wants to have a look at the replay, he needs to download and install the L2 client from this official website. You do not need to have an account to watch the replay (you do not need to log on to see them). Think of the L2 client as a VERY large "player" for the replay files :)
