Hello,
I'm playing a Dark Elf fighter, just started today.
I was looking over the skills they have, I'm going to become a BladeDancer.
What confuses me is that BDs are DPS not Tanks. However, they get Heavy Armor Mastery, not light.
Should I skip the Heavy Armory Master and just use light armor for the evasion?
I'm a bit early on this as I'm only in my teens, but I'll be upgrading when I hit 20. Currently I'm wearing heavy armor with a 1h sword/shield combo.
At lvl 20 I become a Palus Knight which has Heavy Armor masteries, however at lv40 I have no armor masteries.
I'm assuming the reason for the Armor Masteries at lvl20 is because a Palus Knight can become a Shillen Knight (tank).
Any thoughts?
Another question..
Does "Sword Blunt Mastery" affect dual swords as well?
From reading the description, it looks like early "Weapon mastery" and "Armor Mastery" affects your power and defense.
Just wondering if "Sword/Blunt mastery" does the same.
It doesnt. sword/blunt mastery works for swords (1 and 2 handed) and blunts. Duals have thier own mastery. And general mastery from pre-20 affects everything.
I insist on crafting everything (it's cheaper), so while I was waiting to get that last FP boot design, I actually went from 40 to 42 wearing the Plate Leather set. Solo, no problem. Hunting normal hp yellows, whites and greens you kill everything in sight quickly. Keep an extra heal pot handy just in case.
But in groups hunting yellows and pinks, multiple HP and group mobs in PL, not a good idea. With the duals and the +4 Str, on top of my dyes, I was doing major damage and the tank couldn't keep aggro. My hp and pdef was too low, and even with Vamp Rage, I was majorly taxing our healer. He had to heal much more often which ultimately slowed us all down.
Now with the FP set finally crafted, the extra pdef and HP is a boon. I wear it whenever I group.
At B grade I don't think there is any better armor than BW or Doom Heavy for a BD.
At A grade, again, Heavy sets are the best. I haven't proven this with a BD, but with an SK. Pretty much the same type of armor requirements for these classes.
Your choice is Neutral BD... Tank BD and Dmg Dealing BD.... or the evasion heavy damage BD...
IMO, the evasion heavy bd dies very very quickly due to wearing any type of light armor which in turn means very very little pdef..... but the vasion and other stats that come with light is quite impressive if you can manage handling it.
But usually there are Tank BDs and Major DD BDs..
C grade is definitely nice to have Full Plate.. i'd suggest not actually using any form of dyes as you'll be counter productive most of the time, soloing can be quite difficult and you just don't have the hp or the damage output just yet.
B grade, Some people seem to prefer the +5 str and +4 dex (imo, i think it's kinda strange as alot of Heavy armor gives +str or +con SAs, and never Dex.. so why not increase Dex as much as possible first.. then STR or Con depending on your BD format of being Tank or DD)
IMO, With **** good tats, I find Avadon to be the best with so-so SA of just more HP, BW is if you want to crit less, but run a little fast and hit a little harder, Doom is for bd's that want to mostly tank, good hp bonus, excellent con bonus, so on.
A grade, Usually see BD's running around in Majestic Or Tallum, occasionally some BDs have DC or Nightmare.... i personally quite like having +4 Kesh*Kesh with Tallum Heavy, +5dex +4str, My Patk is nearly 1100, my atk speed is 700+ (724 with zerk one, and even higher with zerk 2)
Plus i crit most of the time due to my high dex.
Frankly, S grade is a major letdown, The duals royally blow for a DD BD, excellent for a Tank BD.... the Heavy armor is clearly Tank oriented. So i opted for Light armor @ S grade, Dragonic Leather Armor is utterly BEAutiful for a DD BD. A BD in leather can destroy a BD in Heavy S grade.
Thanks for all the info!
I'm still at the point of deciding what I want to play.
I got a pair of +5 Scallop Jamadhr's, and after reviewing the monk skills, it looks like I might enjoy that more than BD.
I got a pair of duals, but I decided to go ahead and sell them (for a profit). I appreciate all the info, just need to decide what I want to play. I have like 4 toons in their low teens.
Argh!
I can't make up my mind.
I played a monk to level 10, of course I missed a lot with the D Grade fist items, but the DPS was insane.
Now that I look into DA again I think I want to re-equip my Human Knight again. I just sold my brig armor yesterday!
I can't make up my mind! I bought some manticore, but i have a friend who already has a monk. Guess I'm gonna sell it to him, buy a sword and brig armor. *pulls hair out*
