I'm not sure if it was ever talked about, but here goes.
When a dwarf crafts a weapon or armor to have his/her name associated with it. A person could look at it as leaving their mark on the world.
I think it's a great idea...But it would be copying what wow did, and i don't want to copy any game. I think some way of identifying the crafter with the craft would be cool.
Another angle to this is the ability for crafters to have insignias or tags. These tags, like a clan logo, would somehow be etched into the weapon like branding cattle.
Probably more work than simply showing a name but would be pretty neat :)
Every thing in-game would be crafted by "XiaoXiao" or something.
As for my mark on lineage2, ive got over 30 elves pregnant, i have more suns and daughters then i can count
At what point have i said they suck? Quote me. All ive said about RP'ers is that i wouldnt do it lol. :D And elves are real!!!! dont destroy my dreams!
In CoH you would collect badges. You could display them in your title and they are vissible when you click on a player. Not exactly a mark on the world perhaps, but it would mark your character. Imagine having a mark like "Slayer of Antharas" or "Slaughterer of Players" or "Visited hidden shrine of Einhasad".
Just make them so they're droppable upon death and they'll fit in with the L2 style of things. Then you could take someone else's "Slayer of Antharas" badge

Lollerz. Somehow that would fit Lineage2 pretty well. :D
But touch my badge and you will suffer for it!!!!!!
(I am collecting points for the died 100 times in PvP badge) :)
And pooh to SirElrohir. Of course we want badges. Badges are fun. You can collect them and earn the badge collector badge!
Joanna: You know what, Stan, if you want me to wear 37 pieces of flair, like your pretty boy over there Bryan, why don't you make the minimum 37 pieces of flair?
Stan, Chotchkie's Manager: Well, I thought I remembered you saying that you wanted to express yourself.
Joanna: You know what, I do want to express myself, okay. And I don't need 37 pieces of flair to do it.
[flips off Stan]
Sigh, i don't have the energy to even keep this thread close to on topic.
Yeah. It's just that we're putting new coversheets on all the TPS reports *before* they go out now. So if you could just remember to do that from now on, that'd be great. All right!
Thats it, draw your toothpicks you call swords and face me you puny human! I'll wipe the arena with your dead body and then feed the remains to the hungry Race Track competitors!
An orc would kill itself...all a human has to do is extend an arm and point the sword in the direction of the orc, then the orc would impale itself trying to get in range to use dual fists, or if it were a raider, it would be so stupid it would walk into the sword anyway.

a Destroyer, mind you. And my sword is longer than your toothpicks, so I can decapitate you from a safe distance, foolish human. But you dont even understand simple things like that, do you? After all, you're made from the leftovers and are only good at multiplying like rats.
The day shall come when all humans are hunted down in the lands of Elmore and Aden!
Orcs are like panda's, affraid of sex. Thats why the orc women are not getting what they need, thus causing you to have a crappy low population. I guess humans are just good at the business.
Everyone knows humans are the best, they were made of leftovers and yet conquor the land with a huge handicap, a greater race gets pwned in a war by a lesser race, lol @ orcs. Zergs ftw.
Lol you do know me and SirE can both use a dragon slayer as we both have the correct masteries and skills for it, so in the end if i put on a D-slayer i could cut you up because being humans we are smarter then you, and can make you defeat yourself. "Hey orc, look behind you its a 3-headed monkey!" *Stab* /socialdance.
I am just sad that this thread derailed the Office Space derailment. Office Space > L2!
*hides*
Now, let's not jump to conclusions. It's a "Jump to Conclusions mat". You see, you have this mat, with different CONCLUSIONS written on it that you could JUMP TO.
And I have longer arm reach(Orcs are taller than humans, thus they have also longer arms as their bodies are generally balanced in size proportions) and more power behind the strikes ;) And I can take alot more than 1 weak scracth from a human that doesnt even know how to properly wield a Sword. After all, he's been using toothpicks for all his life.
You won because Elves helped you. 2vs1 is never fair you know. Only thing you're good at is Zerging it up. And if you'd be an intelligent race, you would have invented your own magics, and not relied on Elves to teach you magic.
What fun are the forums if you cant hijack a post and make it go off-topic?
Well-well look. I already told you: I deal with the god **** customers so the engineers don't have to. I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people. Can't you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?
But orcs are twice the size and pride themselves in being superior, so you cant cry zerg, you should have won but you didnt, i guess the old sayings on TI are true, 'Orcs cant PvP'

Bob Slydell: You see, what we're trying to do is get a feeling for how people spend their time at work so if you would, would you walk us through a typical day, for you?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah.
Bob Slydell: Great.
Peter Gibbons: Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way Lumbergh can't see me, heh - after that I sorta space out for an hour.
Bob Porter: Da-uh? Space out?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch too, I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.
Bob Slydell: I'd like to move us right to Peter Gibbons. We had a chance to meet this young man, and boy that's just a straight shooter with upper management written all over him.
Orcs twice the size of humans? Maybe if you take children and compare them to full grown orcs. Truth is, humans need others to be able to survive anywhere. And they need to zerg it up or they will get their skulls bashed.
I'm Green, Mean and ready to rock!
PS. Mistryl, Spam, mod guys, when you next time make a L2 music video, dont use a crappy elf as the singer, use an ORC!
(or was it something fans did >.> )

I actually did suggest this but it was in conjunction with a different type of crafting system. One where the player, based on certain guidlines and limitations, actually created the type of weapon/Armor/robe/jewelery etc.
I don't know if any of you have ever played the Masters of Orion series or the Galactic Civiliazations games but what I am thinking of is similair to how they deal with custom races.
You have a certain amount of points and can spend them on racial attributes. Some attributes cost more than others. What it comes down to is you can pick attributes that interest you but you can't pick all of them. Also, youi can accept negatives in some areas on order to boost others.
My thought about a crafting system is similiar. You can make robes that give you certain attributes and in some cases some negatives. I also like the idea of making a custom looking weapon or armor based one a system where you can pick the bottom, middle and top parts of the weapons and different parts for the armor (like neverwinter nights). Make it so the colors can't be too garish and then the crafter puts his/her name on it.

Jealous because orcs dont know how to breed arnt you. Orc = Panda.
And yes, custom crafting would be neat :P Masters of Magic game had a system where you could create items for your heroes. Had long lists of bonuses and effects to choose from. Was really nice, but in the end you ended making only certain items as they were the absolute best ones.
If orcs = pandas, then humans = rats or cockroaches. Dont take pride in fertility, you'll just end up overpopulating the regions and then dying off from diseases caused by too dense population, lack of hygiene and scarceness of food.
Orcs are more related by blood to coackroaches then humans. We were created by scraps but orcs have no excuse, they evolved from those disgusting things on Talking Island.
Also i am more of a cute rabbit which constantly breeds then a cockroach. Zergs ftw, poor Australia got zerged by bunnies haha look at em go, wonderful little creatures.
Instead of closing this thread...Any chance we could just move it over to the Off Topic section, as about 99% of this thread is that anyways?
This is very much on topic. The topic is making marks on the world. Of course, it looks like orcs and humans threatning to make marks on eachother now....
Attention plz, Im going to do something extreme.
I am going to post on-topic.
Please dont hate me about that.
What Maestros need is some kind of ability, that actually links them to an advanced crafter profile. No abilities currently availabe do such thing.
So, it would be nice to fit the suggestion the OP made on Maestros. It can work that way:
As soon as warsmiths advance to Maestros they get an active toggle ability named "Burn Mark lvl 1" (Im not good at english, you can find a better name). The ability is learned automatically, no additional requirements.
lvl 1 enables you to burn your name on jewels
lvl 2 is automatically learned when you hit lvl 77 and you are Maestro.. It enables you burn your name at armors and armor pieces.
lvl 3 is learned automatically at lvl 78 and you are Maestro. It enables you to burn your name at weapons.
You can only burn your name at items you create.
When you are about to create the weapon/armor/jewel you turn the "Burn Mark" on (whether it will eat any MP or not, I think is not that important). Then you press the create button and voila!
-If you dont want you give your name on an item, then simply you dont turn the ability on.
-If you enable the ability while crafting mats/shots or weapon/armor that dont fit with the ability's lvl, the craft is done and your name is not aplied.
-It is easy to implement, no serious balance thought is needed for this.
-Making it a Maestro restricted ability, you give Maestro that "something" about crafting supermacy, while the market is not flooded by items with "grili65iykl" names written on them.
-The name could appear next to weapon's name in a form "Meropi's Dragonic Bow" (), or as a stat in the form "Creator: Meropi".

Isn't copying WoW, UO was the first to do this and it worked extremely well. But trust and reputation was more essential in UO than it seems to be in L2.
Aye, UO had your name show up at the products you made ^^ GM Blacksmith here, hoho. It was also a major selling point, since people often bought items from certain makers as they could trust it to be in perfect condition(poisoning and using reduced the durability) and often smiths would repair their own products for free.
Perhaps that maestro suggestion should be moved to suggestions board as it fits there better >.>
This thread needs to go off-topic again ok.
If orcs are born from fire then they should have a inherit weakness to water, meaning a crappy light elf she-man can pown you.
Well-well look. I already told you: I deal with the god **** customers so the engineers don't have to. I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people. Can't you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?
Sounds like something HGMSpam would say.
I thought it kinda sounded like me.
Oddly enough, I used this board to burn my name in you people's minds instead of having it on an item in-game.
