An easier solution would to be to give each item a unique image. A bit more work from NCSoft but it would be worth it and would shut down these morons in an instant. I almost bought some Soul Ore the other day that was advertised as A Crystals. Luckily I spotted it at the last minute.
There are also the idiots who change around the price and the amount. Not sure what can be done about these, but just look out for them selling Amcient Adena for just 1 adena, the deal is never as sweet as it sounds.
This muppet here though is very stupid. Not many use their main, especially if they are clanned and allied. She/he has now rubbished the clan name who will be labled as a scamming clan. ;)
the only solution to these problems is to NOT BE A MORON. READ, seriously. Do you people just buy before you read crap? Do you sign a contract before you read it? DO you buy a cool looking game you THOUGHT was for Xbox but turns out it was for a system you don't own, and then bish at the clerk about it? Jesus Christ, its not that difficult.
Yeah, I hate scammers as well. I'd love if there was something we could do about it, since NCSoft seems to be too stupid to just colour the shafts in blue for example.
Though simply using your brain usually makes you win out in such situatuions.
...and then bish at the clerk about it?
Well DUH!
You're talking to people that, for the most part, come from a country where someone sues a fast food outlet for selling her hot coffee with which she burns her mouth AND WINNING.
That should tell you everything you wanted to express in your post, shouldn't it? :p
Actually, that case was pretty legitimate. The public just doesnt know all of teh details and so when the story gets repeated it seems outrageous.
The health department has regulations about how hot hot drinks can be served. The fast food restaraunt in questions had been fined on many occasions for having their coffee too hot. Also, they had settled another lawsuit without going to trial for the same thing.
Since they had been in violation of codes and had previous record of serving drinks too hot, they lost in that case. It DID make them turn their temperature down which will sa***uard other customers from a too hot beverage.
When you break health codes or other laws, be prepared to pay through the nose when Joe, or in this case, Jane Public gets hurt.
That's the way it should be in my book. A game however, well, read the fine print before you click ok. AInt that hard.

Perhaps you shouldn't generalize an entire country for a few idiots? I used to think you were cool, heh.
Some highlights:
The woman involved in this infamous case suffered very serious injuries - third degree burns on her groin, thighs and buttocks that required skin grafts and a seven-day hospital stay.
Third degree burns occur at this temperature in just two to seven seconds, requiring skin grafting, debridement and whirlpool treatments that cost tens of thousands of dollars and result in permanent disfigurement, extreme pain and disability to the victims for many months, and in some cases, years.
...it wasn't just "hot" it was "so hot it could melt the skin off you in seconds"...how is that not criminal negligence? Coffee that, if you actually drank it, could kill you?
Coffee that, if you actually drank it, could kill you?
By the same rights, you know it's going to be hot so be careful? As if the caffeine doesn't kill people on a regular basis anyways. Liability in the US is slowly becoming a crime in and of itself.

By that reasoning, since motorcycles are dangerous, they should not require any safety regulations since "you know what you're getting into".

Didn't know you were a libertarian, Luke. :)
I think you twist my words, Jester. Regulation is fine, but there are more elements to the incident than "the coffee was too hot." Numbnuts still had to spill it. At this point, I believe I refer to it as "natural selection."

I see. Let's hope you never have an accident, Luke.
It must be better in the states than in England then, I feel I'm putting my life in danger just eating McD's Food and thats usualy Cold :p
Dunno about everyone else but when I go shopping, I usualy take a look at what I'm buying... running arround just grabbing stuff doesn't really please the wife
The Jester: see's they broke the law and deserve to be held guilty /agree
Luke: Why the hell did someone feel the need to place a Hot drink should not be hotter than this law?!?! /agree also
You have to remember that 95% of the population suffer from a accute lack of "Common Sence" and our nanny states like to protect us poor accident pron fools, sad but true

There's a difference in the level of care. I work with a 1k+ C furnace every day. I will never have an accident with it and there is a limitation to the amount of "protection" that seems reasonable. Eventually there comes a point where worrying about the mistakes of others begins to limit things. Somebody will eventually die from anything. It is just a matter of time. Should we regulate that people can never leave their homes to avoid this? Wait, no, then they'll die from being couped up. So we'll make regulations about that.
My point is merely, liability in the US places too much responsibility on the businesses, and not enough responsibility on the consumer. There must be a balance, a level of fault that is even for each side and recognizes reasonable precautions. These days, I see less and less of it.
For L2's sake, the new "this item is priced to high" messages seem to be the trick for me. If you don't look after double checking...well...it's your own ****ed fault. In the old days, this wasn't present.

And tell me, when they replace that unit with a newer one that operates well above the accepted safe limits (without telling you) and something goes wrong, you'll assume liability since "you knew they get hot", right?
I'm a Trampoline coach and i am ver happy to set one up and take it down on my own Safely, however safety regulations say there must be atleast 2 staff to set one up which has lead to, two accidents where a member of staff has let me down and almost droped one of these rather heavy things on me hurting my back.
I hope you work solo luke :P what does roast tank taste like?
there is ALWAYs room for human error amongst other things

Actually if something went wrong with a new piece of equipment because I did not put extra care into it, yes, I would be fired.
I understand your point SirE. Accidents will happen. The consumer still needs to be responsible for mitigating damage. WTH is a cup of coffee doing between your legs? Seriously, a fine for being outside regulations is great. Punitive damages for repeated failure is great. I do not argue that the decision in this case was just. I still say the woman was stupid to not be careful with a cup of hot coffee. And businesses should not be responsible for the stupidity of the consumer.
Numbnuts still had to spill it. At this point, I believe I refer to it as "natural selection."
lol, I agree. People have got to stop making excuses for their stupidity. And what REALLY angers me is that its ADULTS that are taking this stupidity to the next level. When I was a kid I used to BMX a lot, as you can imagine I have managed to mangle myself in ways many thought not possible. I'm not gonna blame the bike manufacturer because after I wiped out I got a sprocket sticking in my leg like a [censored] shuriken. I know its my own [censored] fault for doing stupid things. There has got to be a Common Sense Law, people's stupidity costs EVERYONE $$. You may sit there and think its funny some lady got paid because she spilled coffee on her and you may say "good for her for working the system and getting paid" but in the end thats costing YOU money genius. I don't think its funny that any [censored] can slip on ice in front of your business and sue you because they were too [censored] ******ed to realize ice is slippery!!! DUHH!!!! You might as well be dripping drool from your [censored] chin, I just hope when someone slips on your drool you get sued like a [censored]
a couple years ago, the Taco Bell in McKinney Tx had to close down b/c one of the workers put some 'man sauce' in a taco and the lady that bit into it happened to be a nurse, so she knew right away what it was ><
Wow that simple remark hijacked the whole thread.
How did we get from scalding hot coffee to roasted tanks? o_o;;
It's not that I don't like tort laws. They have in several cases been twisted to be an excuse for morons to be stupid and make money off of it.
How can coffee be too hot?
Did it melt the cups they use?
Perhaps you shouldn't generalize an entire country for a few idiots?
Did I now?
I'd rather think you'd be insulted by living in the same country as those other people (of which there are quite a lot), than being mad at me for pointing it out. :)
Oh and reading helps. I only said that most come from a country where this and that happened. I didn't say all people from there are lunatics. Yet. :D

Was she a REAL nurse or just liked dressing up as one? :)
A really funny solution to these types of people is to have a GM actualy move this scammer into nice aggro area... that would be funny. :) .. and then post a screenshot of this so all can see.
Dreaming.. but I just woke up and remembered NcSoft doesn't care.

The problem with this kind of scam is, that you can never prove, that the vendor did not just accidentially click the wrong item when he set up the store. That does happen from time to time, just the same way as you can sometimes get items 10 times cheaper than they really are, because somebody forgot a 0. You don't complain about that either, do you?
Same applies for exchanged prices and amounts. It happens a lot that I type in the amount instead of the price first and only notice when that message appears, that the price is far off the shop price.
You can't ban people for typos or wrong clicks and personally, I still prefer to live in a system where everybody is considered innocent as long as you can't prove the opposite.
Just be careful, after all that stems-for-shafts-scam is one of the most obvious, there are more subtle ones. And never buy stuff when you're tired, made that mistake before, too. Just recently sold Enria for 10k because I thought it was a sell shop. Should I report the buyer for scamming now?
How about when a woman sues Mcdonald's for getting her fat because it was too tasty. Or a 40 year old was suing the tabacco company for giving her lung cancer.

I dopnt know bout that, but in both cases, haha pwned!
Hmm lets see. Point was made 4 pages ago. Check it out....it was good.

p.s. I fly helos......if it screws the pooch then I get one hell of a ride down. Its not a question of if its a question of when so quit whining cause its a game.
p.p.s Seriously check out the point made like 4 pages ago.....it was good.
ah make me a gm and bots will be gone in a week scammers a few weeks later
you all say you hate botters, but do you realy? now i left a week befor the launch of C4 and the prices for low A grade was 75mil and top 120mil. now that i've come back low A grade is 45mil top 65mil. where do you think this change came from? i can tell you right now it wasnt the players because we are all to greedy. without the botters A grade would be extreamly rare.
for the scammers, stop crying because NC SOFT wont be your [censored]. ever hear the expression "measure twice cut once." ? you cant get back what you lost, basicly look twice then buy. but usaly the ppl who get scammed are e-bayers anyway because there to pimpacent to look around. :D
Without bots si simple, everyone will wear what they are be able to do, that´s mean, people will have what they can obtain, not what they can buy in rl
Which is how it should be. Player's really shouldn't have top gear when they hit a new gear level. That is something that should come over time. Granted top c grade gear and keys dropping from level 58 mobs is also bad, but hey, what can we do?
