I realized a long time ago, I'm mostly likely not going to have all the flashy fancy things in this game that everyone talks about:
Blue (much less Red) OE Weapons
Top Tier of any Grade Equipment
A-Grade
S-Grade
Personally I'm fine with that. Reading the forums in some ways is like reading Road and Track about the latest Saleen, McLaurens, Porshce, etc and then going out to the garage to give my little RX-8 a hand washing. It might not be impressive to anyone else but its mine and I'm happy with it.
A small positive of this homely existence is that I know I'm not living beyond my means. If I get PK'd or die to a mob train and lose gear its not the end of the world - I can in a decent amount of time earn it back. Granted all of my gear probably costs less than someone's super over-enchanted earring but I still have fun. (Albeit solo for the most part.)
Does anyone else have this mind set or can I expect to just solo through the game?
I am 100% positive that there are many people that share your realistic approach to a casual gameply style. I bet if you listed your server and times that you play that you might garner the attention of some of those people on your own server that would be more than happy to hang out with you.
I don't really understand how your subject title has anything to do with your post, but the content of it is good. Depending on your class, you might not even benefit significantly from having overenchanted or similar top-of-the-line gear.

Enjoy!
Because he was talking about using "NPC gear", not top gear.
I remember a thread a long while back about someone that was not let into a party because he wasn't wearing banana... Sad.

Gotcha, thanks.

Yeah, I'd rather see if he's any good, then supply him if he seems "worth it" than kick someone...especially if it's a mystic class, most of them aren't very gear-dependent to function, even if they won't shine.
If my party members don't have "top" gear... ya whatever maybe we could kill 3 or 4 mobs more per buff round with ebayed gear, but at least I don't live under constant pressure to PWN to justify to myself spending that much of my short RL money on my new sword. Can't say it often enough, it's a friggin game. ^^
Yeah..careful with the generalizations. I have several OE'd weapons(Including +8 B grade) and all my chars are in top gear for thier grade. Im 100% Legit. I can barely afford to pay for Lineage and internet access, so "extras" dont apply to me.
Good Clan+GoodFriends are better than Ebay.
There are plenty of real casual gamers around to play with, but we tend to be the quieter section. Typically, if you want to find casual gamers to play with and have fun, search out some of the RPing clans on your server, they'll all be your friends and hunt with you regardless of your RP ability or lackthereof.
I know, I get called a bot, ebayer and pretty much everything else because my hunting style mirrors thiers so much. Its a wonderful side effect of being obsessive compulsive, I MUST run back to the same spot after I kill a mob. It can drive people insane hunting with me. Try having a conversation with me in real life when I am walking, all you'll get in response is 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9...counting my steps. Yay for mental issues!
Funny to an outsider, sucks to be the person effected by it though. If it wasnt so **** annoying, I'd find it funny myself Im sure.
From my house, it is about 1600 steps to the nearest grocery store, 2300 to the second closest, 800 to the gas station, my computer to the washroom is 14 steps, computer to bed is 18 steps, 19 to the kitchen, 1700 to the CTA Train stop, 300 to the CTA Bus stop, I could go on and on.
Well, if you play like that, you might actually at some point have enough adena for the top gear ^^ You never konw, it just might happen that you accumulate wealth over time as you play more casually and arent wasting all your adena on new equipment, enchantments and SS/pots to kill mobs even faster.
Partying is alot better than soloing, you should try to get some nice parties since the time just flies with the right people :) and you forget the grind.
