The "other" forums is for smack-talkin-in-your-face elitist who are more worried about post counts and ninja looting points. The official forums is for people who really want to help others to enjoy their Lineage 2 experience.
Ok, show me which forum you would go to for videos of pvps on your server, or screenshots of ppl that have hit lvl 78, etc. The only role models on these forums seem to be people that spend much, much more time posting than playing. That's fine, I just think that they attract a minority of players and potential forum participants.
Is there an analysis of shield bash on these boards? How about touch of life? I've never seen one, and don't expect to, b/c the ppl high enough to have used them simply don't post here. As a TK nearing 75, you can probably guess which boards I'll check first...
The only reason I dont enjoy going to the other forums, is because the idiocy level there is incredibly high. An intelligent conversation lasts about 4 post before someone butts in with OMG NOOB and it degenerates from there. Atleast here, the discussions that NCSoft doesnt golden padlock tend to remain fairly civil.
they're not moderated for content and forum trolls are not tolerated.
This seems contradictory. And, yes, I've tried to read those forums... If 50 posts of "You suck" and "Noob" isn't considered trolling, I don't know what is...
Of course the ones they don't lock remain civil, b/c the lock any posts that get out of hand.
However, by filtering out the omgnoobzorz posts you are also filtering out the posts by the highest lvl players. Most of whom, by the very nature of the grind inherent in a lvl 7x+ character, are so immersed in this candyland that normal standards of propriety gleaned from the real world are completely absent.
You reap what you sow. In this case, NC created a game that a lot of people can have fun in but only the most dedicated/insane of which can actually excel. And then prevents those people from posting on its own message boards.
That, and even those people are turned off by the insularity of the close group of Forum Friends (TM) that hoot wildly at even the most mildly funny joke. It's getting old, but I guess if you post 5 times as much as you play it's what you live for.
That, and even those people are turned off by the insularity of the close group of Forum Friends (TM) that hoot wildly at even the most mildly funny joke.
I know. God forbid we have a little fun in a game forum. What were we thinking.
It's getting old, but I guess if you post 5 times as much as you play it's what you live for.
So you're telling me that there are people with high post counts on the other forums? That's odd.
Haha, threads being locked on L2Blah? Not unless it goes into RL flaming, and even then it is sometimes overlooked. Come to Teon section and see what we say there. It's almost pure flaming in all of the threads, and no padlocks unless the mods have a bad day or dont know the poster.
Only thing that I gotta give to Blah is that it has alot more info on it. Lots more info on high end content and different class builds etc. And it doesnt cencor the posts ^^
Once in a while there is interested posts on THOSE forums but after 10 posts it turns into a flame fest every single time. And I also don't care for the 3 story high signatures of Jessica Alba stripping. Or whatever.
The very first thread I read at Blah consisted of the usual "Your(sic) a noob!" type of posts. A moderator said that "flames are not allowed here" and then a dozen posts later started flaming someone. I got a headache and left.
The key difference is that *here*, the most vocal posters are those who are least informed about the game.
Nice generalization. I think a few people might have a bone to pick with you. I would bet that (if you left me off the list :p) the top posters here are extremely knowledgeable about L2. I freely admit I don't know crap.
Well, Splatter has also shown that he doesnt have the best knowledge conserning high lvl gameplay, but that is understandable as he's been fooling around on all the **** servers :P
Well, Splatter has also shown that he doesnt have the best knowledge conserning high lvl gameplay, but that is understandable as he's been fooling around on all the **** servers :P
Perhaps but most of his posts concern helping those in the technical forums. So, in that sense, he is very knowledgeable of L2.
The other forums i prefer because its not zerged by moderators, its alot more 'light-hearted' I also love reading some of the random crap there, it sometimes makes my day. The people with high post counts here tho seem to be generally low lvl in-game, i wonder if there is a correlation.. If you want a decent high-end game answer then the other forums are the better bet, because they have actually experianced it, you'll get a few decent replies, but eventually it turns into a flame festival. But some stuff said on there is seriously funny :D
Theres also a whole load of pvp tactics, videos, screenies, stats, strategies and the like, thats where most found out about the RB glitch.

LoL, i'm working on it. I only get to play about 2 hours a week. So it's the slow and steady path for me, that and i'm playing the only character that has the slowest run speed DEbuffed in the whole game.
LoL, i'm working on it. I only get to play about 2 hours a week.
Case in point - almost 6k posts but you don't play that much. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that (SirElrohir no need to get hostile) i'm just saying that such content appeals not very much to the majority of posters. Nor to me, but that's not the point.
Official boards: roleplaying, joking, general fun
L2blah etc: flaming, leespeak, actual knowledge of high lvl content and pvp
For the record, I'd like to add, that not ALL other forums are not moderated. The german fansite IS moderated pretty well and does enforce about the same EULA and RoC as this site (only that we allow I Quit, Bot and a couple other threads, that would ge the golden lock here).
But we are in german, so most of you wouldn't understand a word there :)
Official boards: roleplaying, joking, general fun
L2blah etc: flaming, leespeak, actual knowledge of high lvl content and pvp
That's the problem with the other boards. They have some of the best, but also ALL the worst posters. I hate flaming, I hate leetspeak, I hate posts by 12 year olds bragging about how much they pwnd others with their ebayed and powerlvld toons, and I hate 10 by 3 feet signature pics. Still, I visit l2blah every now and then because the discussions about game mechanics are extremely interesting. Both the official board and the others are useful, but as far as plain "what do I like more", it is definitely this board. Gives me less headaches. This board here I want to read, the others I have to read.
L2Blah is just an open place for everyone to talk about what they want. The mods aren't as bad as people here make them look. In general we don't mess with peoples threads at all untill forum rules are broken. We have a good set of rules to keep the forum organized, fun and open for people to post.
If you're a prude person who doesn't like sigs with beautiful women in them.. well.. then yer out of luck :) hot women are welcome on L2Blah!
About the sig sizes: I've said before people have the right to express themself on L2Blah. Some feel the need to include their war victories or ingame war PMs into a 600x300 sig. Sure :) they earned it. But when someone uses a ******* wallpaper or just fills it up with random stuff and breaks the forum layout we will interfere and change it. Same goes with sigs containing explicit images.
L2Blah has a big core group of dedicated people that are mostly involved with the endgame. This makes us have higher general knowledge of the game. Asking something about your class, pvp or skills will 90% give you the right answer.
We're also gifted with some very special people  such as Hellrose and others who help us out with previews of L2 features and articles coming straight from the Korean devs.
I use both the official forums (read-only mode almost o.o), Blah and [censored], but most time is spent on L2Blah due to the more open atmosphere and player base of well known players in the L2 world.
Nothing wrong with anything in any sig, it's just when it takes up 50% of my screen at 1280x1024 that it gets annoying. I found some awesome posts about bishops from Rae at that forum, but mostly I find flames 90% of the time, at least in the server specific forums. I still visit, just rarely post.
Once in a while there is interested posts on THOSE forums but after 10 posts it turns into a flame fest every single time. And I also don't care for the 3 story high signatures of Jessica Alba stripping. Or whatever.
Where is this signature?? Link me to it please.. I must see!!!
On topic..
This Forum is like church and the tea and cakes afterwards while everyone is all happy and gay about the beautiful day outside and how they cought 2 fish and finally crafted that blessed jewels set.
Blah is more like the playground where its survival of the fittest and who has the biggest E-P....
It receives alot more traffic cause its not as cesnored as this place.
You can complain about the REAL problems *cough* farmers *cough* w/o having the post instantly censored, locked and deleted like here.
Official Forums are for newbies and casual players that tow the line..
Blah is for the experienced and hardcore players that want to learn the details abotu this game and its many aspects.
There is more, and more up to date info on other sites then this one.
Anyone who is anyone in-game uses Blah basically, because they can talk about the good stuff like politics and rivals, you cant do that here which is a shame, because its a huge part of the game, infact the most important part, player interaction.
Hmm censorship of the news and media...
Not allowing the people to speak their minds...
Denying that anything is wrong and all is right with the world...

When did i move to china? o.O
You can speak your mind here, you just did. It's within certain rules. That's what happens on any private forum and that's what this is.
If i think someone is a noob i cant make a post about it here lol, so i couldnt actually speak my mind about that player. The rules of these forums are respectable, but in some cases to harsh, we should be able to discuss bots, farmers and the like without being insta locked.
Oh my God. All the time, anyone commes with this "Censorship" argument, I dunno, if I should laugh or whine.
Censorship is exclusively applied by the government. If any company is editing, banning, moderating, removing, altering or whatever, then that is "enforcing your house rules" and not "censorship".
These boards are not maintained by the government and are not moderated by the government. NCsoft owns this place and they can do whatever they want here, as long as it is legal.
Your freedom of speech and right to remain uncensored applies to your very own website, where you can in turn say anything about Lineage2, as long as you stay within the laws again.
My point was that censorship is why this forum is less popular then the others. If NC wanted their site more popular then they would have to adjust alot of their rules.
I get bored with these forums, seems everything goes to "OMG UNBALANCED" lately. And that is a subject that is overtalked. Other Forums they discuss how to deal with what is now.
And are less boring.
My point was that censorship is why this forum is less popular then the others. If NC wanted their site more popular then they would have to adjust alot of their rules.
I disagree....It's not the censorship that makes this forum less popular, it's the lack of some people to conduct themselfs in a civilized mannor.
Server politics can be talked about... But it's the peoples lack of tack that doing it, not the censorship issue.

Show me where that is happening, because it isnt.
All this leet speak bs you guys are crying about doesnt happen either.
You all are quick to bash other boards, and I think its out of jealousy. If blah is so bad, why is the biggest thread on this forum a repost of hellroses translations on blah?

uh mr 9k post count, YOU ARE THE TOP POSTER.
Dude, your reading comprehension sucks. Reread my post and try responding with something intelligent.
Is it just me, or are we down to about 20 regular posters here now?
Im being forced to go to the forums full of idiots if I want to talk L2.
Oh well.
I've been busy. Which is also why although there's been some content updates over at stratics, not much news being posted. Plus I have to give Mistryl some stuff I owe her
Even the biggest forum whores have to take a break every now and again.
The key difference is that *here*, the most vocal posters are those who are least informed about the game.
Speak for yourself....
I am vocal for a change that is good for the game.
I am vocal for the player base as a whole.
I am vocal for any changes i would like to see on the website.
I am vocal for a bit torrent client downloads.
I am vocal for a fan story section.
I am vocal for a change to the lottery system to make it fun to play.
Actually I'd qualify that statement by saying "many of the top posters . . ."
Yes, there are people who post non-stop about nothing who are not experienced enough in this game to post about many aspects of the game. It is clear by some people's posts that they are out of their depth. I'm not naming names cause that would be rude.
As with every statement (or rule) there are exceptions. There are those who post a lot that DO know their stuff and that is evident in their posts. Good job to them.

So I guess your "quoted for truth" statement should been "quoted for truth, not so much"?
lets just say that almost all "harcore pvpers" dont like to be polite that much..
While they can have an awesome knowledge about the game, how to pvp and all, they certainly wouldnt make a big post without a bad word in it...
And here, if youre not polite enough youll get reported, and warned, and the community would hate you in a sec.
Its kinda pointless to them to be here. It would be headache for the mods, and frustrating to them...
I'll just say this......
This is a tough community...somehow making overly serious what is, in fact, a game.
It is clear that the only value in game is held with players of almost incomprehensible experience.
Evidently I have misunderstood this webpost in believing it was a discussion forum where participation was a good thing.
Meaning participation by even the newest might have value.
This post site is evidently only for a cadre of experienced players as well.
Message rec'd---myself and other 'newbies' should stick to the game.
Luck to all.

A little overdramatic.
I can't say what the person who originally brought up the point intended by saying it, but for me spam doesn't mean good.
What I am against is just posting for the sake of posting in the glorious pursuit of post count, which is condoned by the board staff with their posting ranks. I for one think they should just remove the posting ranks and the post count.
The board is here for all to contribute in what way they can, but not by spamming the board with fluff. New players add to the game by asking questions which are then answered by people who hopefully know what they are talking about. This provides a source of information for people who later use the SEARCH function to see if some info has already been provided (assuming the forum staff don't do another wipe).

ok anyway... yea... the forums are what they are. Don't change them. I don't like change. Cause nothing ever changes for the better.

It is very frustrating to post on these forums.
Only one thread is allowed on the entire forum that contains the three letter B word.
Any posts by a person under 250 that is asking for a particular problem to be looked at by NCSOFT will be beat down by posts telling that user to deal with it, and that its part of the game not NCSOFT's fault so deal with it. It doesnt matter what the problem is, b**s, game exploits, scams, etc. all received with the same responses.
People with over 500 posts are allowed to post away without any warnings of spamming, bumping, posting in wrong areas, etc. Hell its alright to reply to the same post 4 times in a row to address the different responses even though you could of easily made it just one reply.
Note these are generalizations that I have seen, not everyone is like this but a good number of people are here.
Hell its alright to reply to the same post 4 times in a row to address the different responses even though you could of easily made it just one reply.
the reason for that is some people view the forums threaded.. so it looks like:
playerA wts
-----Playerb oh?
----------player a ya
---------------playerb cool
----------playerc no
---------------playera no realy
so if playera doesn't respond to both b and c people will not see it... seriously click the threaded option... it can get confusing if people reply wrong... personally i think they should just flatten it for everybody and make the forum clone blah. Blah is easily the best designed forum I've ever been to... (mainly colors and the little preview thing... just talking format not content)

This is a lie. It's not uncommon for even a first post to be well-received, provided the poster is remotely informed and comprehensible. Now, if someone makes a grossly ignorant and poorly-thought-out post that's almost unintelligible, yeah, it's gonna get trashed. Garbage in, garbage out.
It doesnt matter what the problem is, b**s, game exploits, scams, etc. all received with the same responses.
Aha! Now I see your problem! You're upset because when you post about things that have no business on this board, people don't like it. Why are you surprised?
Let me break it down for you. Not because of your low post count, but because you apparently don't get it:
Bots are here to stay. Hate it. Loathe it. Quit spamming the boards about it, because we've heard it hundreds or thousands of times before and, frankly, we're sick of it. If you have something new to say, the thread does not get locked/deleted/moved...it's only the pointless posts.
Game exploits should be sent to support, not proliferated. This really should be common sense. NC not locking/deleting these threads would be tacit approval of the methods involved, so they have no business on the official forums.
Scams are part of the game. Saying "waaah I was scammed" is stupid. Same for "waaah I got PKed" threads.
If you have a good suggestion on how to avoid it, post! We'll like it.
If all you want to do is say "I hate scams, NC should ban them all!" then find a new game, because L2 is not for you.
People with over 500 posts are allowed to post away without any warnings of spamming, bumping, posting in wrong areas, etc.
This is either ignorance or an intentional lie, I'm going to hope it's the former. I'm not exactly under 500, and I've had one of my threads locked, and recently. There is not a double-standard.
What does happen is that, quite often, established posters know the rules and how to not break them. Newbies don't. Thus, more newbies get locked/moved/deleted than established posters. That's not a double standard, that's learning from experience.
I could go through line by line and flame you back but I care not to waste my time. Point is these forums I thought were for open discussion. If its allowed/tolerated in game (scamming, botting, exploiting, etc) then why is it not allowed to be discussed on the forums? Its ridiculous in my opinion to have a double standard like this.
The only peeve I have at the moment is bots and the lack of feedback from NCSOFT on what they are doing about it. And I am not alone on this, if you have been reading hindermith threads the past couple months you have seen a majority of the users complaining about it. I shouldnt have to deal or cope with it when its against the EULA and we are paying a monthly fee for people to deal with it.
If its allowed/tolerated in game (scamming, botting, exploiting, etc) then why is it not allowed to be discussed on the forums? Its ridiculous in my opinion to have a double standard like this.
One of these things is not like the other (everyone sing!)
Dude, 2 out of 3 of those are allowed in game and can be/are freely discussed here. Care to figure out which two?

Oh really? So I can freely post names of people that scam and use exploits? Oh I didnt think so.

You're right, I misspoke. Exploiting is not legal so no discussion. My bad.
Scams? Go for it. Post names and screenshots. We do that on the Hindemith forums.
If its allowed/tolerated in game (scamming, botting, exploiting, etc) then why is it not allowed to be discussed on the forums?
Scamming: tolerated in-game and freely discussed on the forums. There's constantly one or two threads about this on the Hindemith forum, and again on the Suggestions forum, and often one on the Player Questions forum as well. They're never locked for content, only if a total throw-down flamewar develops...and even then, the OP is often told he can repost it without the flames.
Botting: not tolerated in-game and freely discussed on the forums if you have something new to add. As I said before, it's only the circular, redundant, pointless threads that get locked unless they're in the official thread.
Exploiting: not tolerated in-game and freaking stupid to talk about on the official forums. Of course this gets deleted! If they didn't get deleted, two things would happen: the exploits would get used even more and players would attempt to circumvent their punishment by saying "but I read about it on the official forums". By deleting these, they limit the spread of this information and formally reject the behavior.
Frankly, to do anything else would be stupid of them--take it as a sign of their competence that they stay on top of these threads.
You're calling double-standard and you don't even have the facts. Go ahead, flame me "back", whatever. I'm still right.
Is it just me, or are we down to about 20 regular posters here now?
Im being forced to go to the forums full of idiots if I want to talk L2.
Oh well.
You're right Canto.... I haven't posted as much in quite some time, because in all honesty, I haven't found anything interesting enough. Ellie and I were just talking about this today. These boards are going thru the dead cycle and will pick up again eventually.
That, and even those people are turned off by the insularity of the close group of Forum Friends (TM) that hoot wildly at even the most mildly funny joke.
Yeah, the boards are just getting very boring. I only pop in once and a while to see if a new player has a question I can help answer, or to make a repetitive comment in the repetitive nerf threads. I think ppl just are finding it a waste a time to post here. Mainly because nobody is talking about anything new.
Right... Obviously nobody has taken the time to go into any necro or catacomb. Or how about a well known group of raid boss farmers, who by the way execute farming RB's like a automated factory line, using a terrain exploit to take out raid bosses. Someone at NCSOFT obviously knows about it since they deleted the movies that were posted on the hindermith forums. Dont hold your breath when it comes to seeing this not tolerated strategy being implemented in the game. Its like watching someone try to put out a forest fire using a dixy cup full of water.
I only look at the offical forums to see in NCSoft actually has anything to say about the various stuff in-game. But, most of the time they say nothing or say they are "looking into it". If any offical word comes out about things, it will get reposted on the other forum anyways.
If i want to know what is going on my server, have any game related questions about which is a good set-up, want to look up SS of stats for different classes, want c4/c5 info, I go to blah. Frankly the overall population of Blah does understand this game better (sometimes alot better) then the ppl on the offical boards.
As for ppl that don't want to look at all the sigs ppl have, you could turn off all sigs, or all images.
If i want to look at weapon/armor stats or skill info I use Stratics.
Im going to point out the obvious here..but since I keep hearing how you all go to Blah to post, since thats where all the people who know about the game post.. You are all posting here telling us that..maybe you should TRY asking your questions here, there certainly seem to be enough of you posting it that you should get the answers you want. Besides, you'd probably find that quite a few of us who post here know quite a bit about the game also. I dont have a massive post count, but I read here quite frequently, and post when appropriate.
If i have a very good body shop down the street from me which i have gone to before and had good results, why would I go ask some kid at Mr. Muffler about a paint job?
Most of us ask at Blah because it has a much larger userbase and thus offers more answers. More users = more people that know about the thing in question = more detailed and precise answers.
How many Destroyers you know that post here and are in A-grade? Excluding me. Now then, if you wanted to ask something conserning Destroyers in A-grade, you would only get an answer from me whereas you will get anything from 1 to 1000 answers on Blah depending on the different views of the different Destros there.
A forum where people can pretty much do what they want is appealing, not to mention informationwise it appeals to those who wants personal fame for it by simply posting it there, instead of submitting to a fansite.
Okay so I spent some time on the unmentionable forum poking around looking at the questions and answers. There may be more posters but the percentage of correct answers doesn't appear to be any higher. I found several questions that people had given correct answers for and several that had wrong answers.
And a LOT of non-worksafe sigs... so much so that I wouldn't be able to regularly read that forum. Since I read and post from work..and when I'm home..I play

That is part of it. I usually post during the quiet times at work. Some of the 'sigs' are just not acceptable. More so, some of the language is not acceptable. I can't be at work, and have someone pass by who then sees foul language and jumping scantily clad women on my screen.
It's not that I have a problem with people who want to discuss the game in that environment (and I'm not against jumping scantily clad women) but it just feels a bit sophmoric or better yet, adolescent.
I don't need the racist comments, the flames or the colorful language to discuss the game. Again, i'm not judgmental, I have no problem with other people enjoying themselves in that atmosphere.
Part of the issue with this forum is that all people want to talk about are the "problems". But it is the same old same old. people will complain, eventually NC will make a statement, people will seem happy, and then slowly but surely people will start to complain again.
These forums are for the use of NC. People just can't get their minds around that and they start crying "Freedom of Speech" or "We're being opressed".
Very few companies allow for outsiders to post on "official forums" what they think of their product. These forums allow the gaming community to discuss questions such as "I can't find so and so for a quest' or "what A grade goes with my eyes".
But that's the extent of it. Any issues that one has with the game that go beyond direct game questions belong on other forums so that people can speak their minds. NC is not going to pay for a service that the players can diss them right or left. And though some of the complaints are legit i am sure that there are other complaints that are just some frustrted gamer going ballistic.
I even remember one time when someone posted a comment/complaint that was completely untrue but was stated as the written word on the subject. A gm had to point him to the correct info and then lock the thread.
People who play games (people in general?) go nuts over the smallest things. They don't like the way something is being executed? I quit. What about gameguard. Man, how many people quit over that, made a big stink only to then come back?
As I've said before, this is the house of nc. Though we are paying customers, we are also guests on these forums. Heck, they can discontinue them anytime if it turns out that it is not worth it.
They have stated the rules and it is up to us whether we want to hang here or elsewhere.
If there are fewer people posting here it could be because there really hasn't been any interesting info to discuss. And I'm just too old to discuss the subject of bots for the zillionth time.
If one does not like it then either complain, put up with it or leave. life is just that simple. At least when it comes to playing an online video game!
Scantily clad women hopping around?
You mean they have DEs in heavy Doom armour in their sigs? :)
Not like L2 is actually work safe ... not that you should play at work ... uh ...
But yeah, I like moderated forums because even though they let a lot slip in even here, they still make it somewhat readable. I don't need kids, or worse, adults who behave like kiddies, fling poo at each other just because, well, this sums it up nicely (http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/03/19).
Though I always was ****** off greatly by how this game, and thus the forum, is run. I came to the conclusion that I will never actually expect anything intelligent being done by NCSoft, when it does happen I'm happy but it'll not change my opinion of this loony bin of a company...
It will not drive me to post on or read another loony bin, though.

PS: I do wish we could have sigs (moderated) or at least not have tags count towards the sig length...
- The poor forum design
No matter what you say, not being able see pictures or cool sig in 2006 is kinda sad. If you hate the huge sig (kinda agree), then there are forums that can auto-redimension them, go check for "Simple Machine forums" solutions for example, very powerful. I hate the forum color, make reading it uneasy.
Here to edit your post a minimum.. just a little bit, takes hours, you can't underline, you can't see pict even thumbnails, you can't re-edit your post after 2min20 seconds, the search result page is terrible.. a real pain in the [censored] to use, you can't put in bold a text you already written.. instead you have to copy and past it into the silly pop-up. or think about it before. Oh and the perview option, [censored] I can't see the original post/thread to get more details or to respond to the main issue, ect, ect, ect..
Basically, when I think about official forum, the first things that comes into my mind are what I can't do there, what I can't see or show to my fellow players: how **** a picture is when showed through an emotionless url link?
Why is the official board so affraid of images.. I just can't get it!
- The censorship, version "coca light": It tastes like a real one, smells like it but its not a censorship!
Indeed, this is not a real censorship, you can post what you think here but to such limit: a limit that is so close to real censorship that ppl who post here... auto-censor themsleves before even posting, how sad that is. Check my words, take care to not mention the botting problem, to not refer directly to ppl in game, pretend that I "deal with the reall issues and try to find solutions"... to not flame too much, ect..
This light version of a censorship is the final addition, the little limitation that makes posting here a real pain. Would it be so hard for NC to trust his community and let them enforce the posting rules by themselves.. with a moderation of course. Just have a look at how L2pet is handled, you got a user friendly forum, great posts, some flames but most kept cleared out by the posters themselves.. would it be so hard to apply such solution to the entire community?
Make at least that forum more user friendly.. plz!
## EDIT ##
If you ever needed a justification for accepting pictures directly.. take this one and imagine how painfull it would be here, having to click on a link to see it. ;) http://l2pets.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1591
* despite reading some of the best posts or debates here in this place".. and that is the true shame of it, imo.

They aren't "afraid of images". This is a business that makes a product for people of a certain age and up. They are merely following guidlines that are needed in order for them to conduct business. And that is what the problem is. Perception.
People are so used to the internet, myspace, blogs, etc, that they sort of lose track of the idea that there are laws they need to follow. Not to mention that I imagine sigs take up a certain amount of space.
would it be so hard to apply such solution to the entire community?

Well, if you look at other sites that are community controlled, you get a mix of great info and info that is not suitable for a segment of the community.
NC is a business. They have certain guidlines, both internal and external that they need to follow.
Just take what you can get from this site and then go to other sites for what you can't. No worries.
About being afraid of images, this was to be taken to the first degree: I guess I should have used the word "pictures" as I am merely refering to the technical impossibility in this forum to view them directly. As for the space.. this is a MMORP company, how could this be an issue?
Anyway, despicte this technical problem: this forum is all but user friendly and when I see what the dedicated posters on blah, L2pet, L2 can do, in terms of editing options, creating semi professional and very "easy to read" posts.. I feel bad for theirs official forum equivalents. Don't tell me that any of the hardcore posters here, those who help the community a lot with their questions or answers, won't welcome some editing enhancements!
I'll finish with the relation between us and NC: this is not as simple as you make it appear. We are more than casual customers but we are not buddies either. Yes, having lots of "bot posts" is annoying for those who post or check the boards a lot, yes this is the right of the company to not enhence such kind of "advertisement" but it is also a great asset to let its community express their feeling, it is the best way to check the current "temperature"or be able to react faster facing new issues: how about the most famous cheater in Erica be the server representative in a C2 event, how about the Raid boss exploit, how about the tips to spot botters,ect..? Having an open community, being able to see what are the most important chalenges of the moment should be of interest for MMORPS comp.
:D THX!!! Working on 73 as we speak. I'm a mighty 7.82% into it.
As for Alpha, sure, what you say is correct. But it is too hard to balance that. Given an inch take a mile. If we were allowed more freedom it would quickly slip into everything that NC has stated they won't tolerate.
And I have no doubt that they go to the other forums so they can quickly assess what the current "feeling" of the game is. I would 't be surprised if they rely on the other forums for a better evaluation of what the players feel. It's just that "officially" since they are a business, they need to keep it clean here.
