Wanted: Dead, Repeatedly

I wish to recap a night's events as a warning to newcomers to the game, and as a sort of pleading to the players that aren't hardened by all this already themselves.

My friend got DCed east of Giran, and when he logged in again, got killed by mobs. He comes into the game image only to find a dwarf picking up hatchling armor worth quite a few mil. Immediately, the dwarf logs when he PMs him.

Informing us of this, we tell him to GM, keep PMing the guy, etc. He gets blocked, so asks us allies to help him. This is the conversation I held with the dwarf myself.

So we port back to town (most allies were partied up at the time), and low and behold, wind up porting where the events have unfolded. Going to support our ally, we stumble across the following scene. As a group of us converge, the sets up shop to sell to Aldrik (that's our ally) that which belongs to him in the first place.

Needless to say, Aldrik didn't get his armor back, and the dwarf kept logging or SoEing to prevent us from following him out of town.

So, newbies, be careful where you log out.

And to oldtimers? If you know this guy, or see him? PK 'til your eyes bleed. He took a costly item from a soldier being shipped out to Iraq in a few days, and that I think just makes it even more inappropriate.

I really hope karma bites him in the rear.

The dwarf's name is h0h0go0dbaby (zero's and o's), so feel free to place him on KoS lists.

Thanks for letting me rant.
Your friend was stupid to log out were mobs are.

His own fault that he lost it, no one else's.
Re-read.

He did not log out, he was disconnected, big difference.

Please read carefully next time you post, thanks. :)
I'd be happy to put that thug on my Kos list

I'm very sorry to hear that about your friend. If I see h0h0go0dbaby around I will take him out. In return if I do find him and pk him I will ask that you help me level up a sin eater ;) lol. Just joking but if I see him my little dwarf doesnt take light action. He will be killed : D
So, uhm. What exactly did you tell the gm?

That someone died and dropped something and someone else picked it up? And did they laugh at you and tell you to look at the game mechanics?

sucks for your friend. But.....What happened is a part of the game. You can drop stuff when you die. And its anyone's to pick up. Don't like it. Then I would suggest another game. Just to be truthful

And "it is a port of the game" if it crashed ? lol how to say a stupid remark
Yes drop an item is a part of the game but any crash should be exist.

Add in my Black list
Wow. You are all gonna put a farmer on KoS. Tell me how that works out for ya
/gm
I died and dropped my armor and some farmer picked it up plz help.

=GM=Koreaguythatspeaksnoenglish

sorry me no speak english it is client side

end of story, its part of the game to drop stuff on death, and no i wont read your whine again.
I seem to be missing something here. I thought if the game faulted/dc'd and you had a drop that you had some chance of petitioning to get the item returned to you.
I'm fairly sure I read that type of thing happening somewhere on this site.
I've been 'logged out' by the server multiple times in the past 3 months and have never once had a single thing "drop"....does this happen a lot?
If it does, is there a provision where the nice folks at NCSoft attempt to reimburse your toon in the interest of being reasonable?
I could be wrong, but it's only when it's the server side that is at fault that they will give you an item back.

Example : You die to a mob and drop your helmet, but before you click "Back to Town" and start running back for your helmet, the server crash and your helmet is erased from the game. In that case they should give your item back.

What happened to my friend came from being DCed in an aggro area. Not that the DC itself caused the drop outright. When he logged back in, the mobs had already killed him (thus causing the drop).

And I wrote this largely as a 'be careful' to players, since I *don't* know what the official NCSoft policy is. The player *is* petitioning to NCSoft regarding the issue, to those that made the suggestion. However, part of me was wondering if anyone had gone through such a thing in the past, or what actions the GMs had taken if it had. That was another reason behind my posting the night's event.

For those of you saying you'll keep your eye out for them, thanks, it is greatly appreciated. I doubt it will do much of anything (if the dwarf is in fact a farmer. His English was quite good until he "convieniently" lost all knowledge of the language), but it's nice to know that there's support in this community. :)

Catch you all in game!

(Edited to add quote and change for clarification)
Beyond the fact that we play in a player-beware kind of a system...(I DC'd back in C1 with my little hatchling to lvl 43 to come back to now flute in my inv...nothing around so I doubt that he was killed...and the response that I got was...boy that sucks from the GM) the thing that I find odd about this entire exchange is that you blacked out most of the conversation.

If everything is on the up and up, why bother to do that?

From a more pramatic standpoint, farmers don't care if they die...they have to delvl anyway...AND...the chances of finding a specific one to kill? Yea...gl with that.
You all must not know Ara very well. She probably only said to put him on your KoS list for the hell of it. And if you can't identify that as a joke well then...meh.

And like Ara said, this is mostly meant as a heads up post. You know that when there are network issues NC says that playing during that time is considered At Risk play? Well to be honest, anytime you log on is at risk play. There are a great many situations where you can be disconected. Even more so since of a recent Chronicle launch...

Besides, the man that lost the hatch gear is going to Iraq...Jesus have a little love for him >.>
Wah.

I was gonna let this discussion die, 'cause it really is an act in futility, but I had to reply to this. The reason I blacked out a lot of conversation is 'cause I didn't think my clan chat and alliance chat should be anyone else's business, really. That and it focuses attention to the PMs, which was the entire point of the post, so... Yeah. ^^
I will kill him if i see him around for you :)

I despise people like that who collect items that droped from people and log off......
Yes, pking farmers is really worth it. Even if it isn't a farmer hohogoodgirl or whatever is obviously not a main. Easier and more beneficial to help out and get the item replaced then it is to jump your way to 5+ on some nobody.

And, not to offend you in some crazy way but there is no way that dwarf knew he was getting shipped out to Iraq. How does that make it worse? I mean, he's got plenty of time before he needs the armor if you think about it.

Lastly, logging out and getting d/c'd in aggro mob areas are completely different things. You will get nothing back because he logged in and the mobs killed him. That amount of time shows that he was in game and had a complete opportunity to defend himself/bsoe. It doesn't matter if he was stuck in blackscreen, he was shown as logged in.

Happens in pvp all the time, nothing will be done about it. I'm not entirely sure on why this is happening but it seems like everyone grabbed some fantasy copy of the L2 rules/eula and thinks that if they say them enough it will come true. O.o
thats why we have ebay...

incase we loose stuff we can just buy some more money and buy it back :)
Was your friend soloing when he was DCd? If so, then that's the risk of soloing. There's an old saying from when I was in the military, "Gear adrift is a gift". As bad as the situation is, the dwarf really did nothing wrong.
1. It's a virtual item in an online game. Dude going to Iraq should not have even been mentioned because really, at the end of the day, who really cares? I don't, if others do so be it.

2. Did this really, really require a thread? I have died when going solo and had items drop and had them picked up by other people. I never posted a thread about it. Whine somewhere else.

3. Why would anyone pk the farmer? Why ask anyone to pk the farmer? Why don't you spend your time and effort if it's so important to you to find him and pk him, and btw if he is actually a farmer, he won't care if you pk him...

4. Maybe we should pk you for posting such a ******ed thread?

I'm sure everyone involved is aware that it's a virtual item in a game. Thanks for stating the obvious. Also, whether or not anyone cares that he is going to Iraq, I said it anyway. Stop whining about it.

Hmmm...it may not have required a thread, but she posted one nonetheless. This forum was dull anyway, ya'll needed something else to get pissy over.

Why do you care if she wants someone to PK a farmer? If you don't want to then...don't do it. It's not going to hurt you at all to abstain from pking someone. Besides asking why someone wants to pk a farmer is like saying, "Why does someone want to kill this fly?" No one cares if it's gone if you kill it.

4. Maybe we should pk you for posting such a ******ed thread?

You kill her, you'll have to deal with me and all of her alliance and friends...and she has a lot of them
