Old school drop rules

i remeber waaaay back in c3 we beleaved in 1 rule
if a mob drops the blade it drops the weapon
if a mob drops the design it drops the armor

does this still hold true?
today at FOD i got a dc helm mat and i was just wondering if anyone has ever got a full A grade helm drop
or should i just stop hopeing for a halberd or bloody orchid to drop just cause the mob drops the blades

I know for sure it's true about weapons (at least SoV I got from Hamrut <.< they drop blades as well).
Armors are possibly made likewise (what you got that drop off? O.O I'll have to go grind there)

Thats how its rumored to be.. only way to test would be to get mob specific and see what they drop.

Don't know about the old school drop rules but if you got that off our multi-legged friend then the answer is yes. Also got the full A grade fists (Bloody something) from there but not sure what since that place can get crazy.

With the dropchance for a fulldrop being less than to be struck by lightning in an underground cavern, does it really matter, which mob drops what ? The chance is so slim, that I would really not care.

I have to agree there, probably be faster to farm all of the mats to craft it, including the recs, than hunt for that full drop. Unless you are unbelievably lucky. Then go buy lottery tickets and share with me.

Considering how many hours I've spent in Forest of the Dead, the drop rate for parts out there is miserable too, but the material drops are awesome, and the spoils..well..yeah..is there a word for "more awesome than awesome"?

yes yes... low A helms drops.

The ones I believe that used to be raid boss only were the top A (NM and Maj). Not sure how its working on c4..

Yep they do. I know people who got helmet drops.

true but when you kill 10k mobs 1 lvl then 15k then 20k after that....
i know exactlly where i will be hunting from now until 77 so after killing about... what? 300k of mobs?
all of a sudden a 1 in a million drop rate doesnt seem that unreasonable

i never expect a full drop since ive only had 2 full b grade drops my whole career just curious which god i should pray to for a full A grade helm drop

The Tulben bats at BS that drop BoP shafts also drop the bow at an insane rate. I was lucky enough to get one.

Both the full halberd and DC helm drop in FOD. Clannies have gotten both.

I have gotten a full bloody orchid drop in FOTD off the Requiem behemoth groups

Got Halberd off the Bone Grinder mob I think, that or one of the Bone mage type mobs.
