If you only kill 1 mob, then take a green con full hp mob.
If you kill mobs for 1 hour as one of the not at all overpowered AoE Nukers, then go for the half HP mobs. Killspeed is all that counts in this Event.
that is, why Dwarves will do the chicken dance and log in a twink, as even a lvl 1 mystic char will gather more letters than a normal leveling dwarf.

Awww I was planning on doing my own little AOE train in the Cata's with my dwarf and my SO 2 box :(. Do you honestly think that it will be better for me to play a mystic with AOE to earn letters. Well I could log onto my level 40 SH i guess 0.o
I will for sure not log in with my BH during that event and rather play my necro. As I said, killing speed is all that matters. Last L2-Day, those pointy-ear-freaks were getting 3-10x the letters than I did.
Which lvl was you then?
I'm thinking geting my dwarf and aoe'ing half hp mobs (the lowest i can find within my range, or if i find a healer then may be higher ones).
Or getting a lvl 1 twinked out mystic will be better? (which i dont realy whant to do)
I would not advise AoE'ing 1/2hp mobs as a melee, half hp mobs hit twice as hard...VR wont work here...1/2hp mobs are for the nukers/archers, x4 hp mobs are for us melees, as they hurt alot less...
Nukers with MP management are gunna rule this event.
I can pole 1/2hp mobs with VR without losing HP at all. You just need to be a real pole class(Destro, WL or Dwarf) and have Top Equipment and hunt greens. Top C at 40 means that you will blow thru the mobs with ease.

They do? Never tryed them with a mele.. Shoul try then with my shamy during the event. Tryed those before poison> by the time they are on top of me I only need 1 hit.
x4 hp mobs are for us melees, as they hurt alot less...
not during events.. From other events i experienced the 4x have about the same chance to drop quest items, but they die 4 times as slow and there is more need for a party.
No what i was saying is that a mob with x4 hp hurts less then a equal level mob of x0 hp, usually. Im going to either AoE pole some x0 hp social stuff or make a nuker/archer and kill those 1/2hp scrubs in FoS.
I know what Im gonna do. Im going to take a freshly subed destro out to on off those area's, buff him, then train him and AoE root the mobs (I know Im not an OL but I can root those lvl 40 noob mobs) and let him massacure them

Yes I racked up using big boom on 1/2 hp mobs in other events like this. Kill rate is what you want focus on Aoe attacks and weak mobs go for greens and light blue even if soloing if in a group go for polegroups I know last time this went on I used my paladin to train newbie dungeons getting 50 mobs a time and bringing them back to toons around the mobs level to kill with polearms. Mobs were to low to damage me the one in 5 swings they actually hit me but since the toons killing them were their level it drops weree all good. Aoe has changed now that won't work as well so stick to fast killing places .
If you are looking for big money sell letters I remember last time leters like II,R,S,A going for a million adena each. Those are some of the key letters ones that only appear once for just one word. I suggest all the supper common letters like o,c,n sell those right away for like 50k a peice some morons will buy them up fast before they realize they are super common. I remember these letters going for up to 100k a peice first few days at the end of the event guys were dumping them off at 1,000 each because they had so many of them and no one needed them.
There's a chance this event will be altered from last time it was around. They might make it so that 1/4 and 1/2 hp mobs don't drop letters but we'll have to wait and see.
Just follow your fav farmers. Last time it took them 1 day to reconfig their settings. Free letters everywhere.
True and you can always just train those that do pick them up and hope that when they die they will explode with them all over. BTW some people just sell the letters and I seem to remember that the "II" was worth around 500k since it was so rare.

(FYI I play the event straight up and just play my normal amount on my normal characters... I am not looking to maximize profits... I want to have fun. I have multiple characters and play a different one when I get bored.)
Common letters drop like water... my mage had tons of these while my melee had only slightly more than I could use.
Uncommon letters drop a certain number... I had slightly more with my mage than my melee.
Rare letters are all about luck. I had MORE rare drops and more words spelled with my melee than my mage with more time and more kills in the mage overall.
Moral:
-If they have not done it already... all they have to do to make the event fair for non-damage classes is make the rares and uncommons drop at X rate per period of time or simply put a maximum drop rate for them over a period of time.
My results could have been just luck... but may have been design.
FYI the best solo classes for this event are not nukers.

ive had tons of experience in events on many many toons
i can tell you the drop rate on half hp mobs is lower than normal mobs (not by half, prolly more like 80%)
i can tell you the best way to get event drops in c3 was high lvl big booming (lvl 3 boom at least)
not only did it kill alot of mobs at once but everytime boom died it had a chance to drop an event item
no boom in c4
i can tell you a lvl 60 melee will get more event items than a 1 hitting lvl 25 mage
for this event i will alternate between my sps and my ws
the sps kills prolly double the mobs per hour than me but it hunts light blue mobs that it can 2 hit
the ws just got a new golem so it kills reasonably fast and hunting green mobs i have zero downtime and need at least 5 mobs on me to drop below 90% hp
Last L2 Day event I was a lvl 50 Glad. I soloed green and whites and got letters off almost every kill. In 2 hours I had enough letters to spell every word 2 times plus extra letters. Its not difficult to get the letters.
The chance of getting something really good from turning in the letters was really bad last time. I only received buff scrolls and none of the really good buff scrolls. With the top rewards they have this time im sure it will be hard to get the ring or earing. I made more money selling letters then what I made from stuff I recieved by turning in the words.
Going to use my nuker hopefully I can get alot more letters this time.
But that means the lazy nukers will actually have to pick up their loot.

Oo what of a soloing cleric? My little mystic is..well lvl 12 right now but what if I get her to around 20+ before the end is over? Just kill the green mobs? oo
