Forcelogging

Is forcelogging illegal? I see it done a lot mostly by 3rd party using farmers ticks me off when I have a nice train of mobs I dump on farmers and they all just dissappear on me and no its not bsoe or party recall
i think it depends, if i go into my process menu and shut down l2.exe and it force logs me after 15 seconds, i think that's technically legal. But i think you're talking about the insta log even when being hit.

You cannot do this, it is impossible witht he L2 client. Now seeing as how not everyone uses the L2 client i think that indirectly you could get banned for it. ie you're banned for using an 3rd party program, forceloggin was the indication that you were.
Report them for using that trick. Real client can't forcelog.

Yes, yes it can. But it is still illegal.

This is the correct answer :)
Real clients can forcelog! You can shut down the computer or take out the internet connection anything that breaks the signal will log you out. So even without third party programs people can forcelog themselves out my question is, is it illegal to forcelog yourself out?
Your toon stays in game even if u turn your computer off.

Your toon stays in game even if u turn your computer off.

for 15 seconds
Yeah that's what I thought with real clients, your toon stays logged in for 15 seconds. But with the "other" client, they can logout even if in the middle of a fight. They just fade out.
Yeah it does stay logged in if you simply remove cord or power off system. They sort of fixed the forced log exploit without using any 3rd party software but the it can still be done. I am sure you can find out how in other forums/threads since it wont be allowed to be posted here.

Good luck with reporting force loggers though, I have reported the same set of bots force logging half dozen times over he past 2 weeks, they are still there.
If you open second instance of the game, type name, password, and be ready click LOGIN button when time comes? You need to click it two or three times, because it is saying "Account already in use", but it will log you in anyway. And your "old" toon disappears ... or not? Haven't tried this yet, always forget :(
Isn't force logging just signing in with the same account on a different instance of l2? No 3rd party software needed. :p

Edit: Oops, Crawlerin was faster - yes, your old toon disappears right away though I have never had it happen while I couldn't have logged out normally (logging in a second account... only not :o)
Yup, using a second L2 instance and logging in again does work... thats how bots do it... just a lot faster than a human ever could. :p

I consider it an exploit tho. Slim hope that it will be fixed however.

Cal

Yup, using a second L2 instance and logging in again does work... thats how bots do it... just a lot faster than a human ever could.

This might be true but just how fast are you to be able to do it to nine toons at one time?
Use a macro that does it for you. That, however, is a very dark grey area of player rights. ;)

Cal
Hrm a macro interacting with the L2 client can be considered 3rd party use. Although I can content the same with an antivirus or firewall but those do not affect L2 client's ingame performance.

I suspect the third party software we cant mention will break your connection by trying to log you in again. The user probably set a condition that will trigger this behavior. So the logout of 9 bots is all automatic.

Yes, yes it can. But it is still illegal.

How exactly is it illegal? You simply log in on another machine, this forcelogs your other character, don't see any mention anywhere that this is an illegal tactic.
ah, so you are using it as a tactic? bad ash, bad. ;)
anyway that 'tactic' should me made illegal:
1. if attacked and you try to relog or quit the game, there is a message appearing: cannot quit while in battle. its clear here that game mechanics are set so a player must wait out 10+ seconds after the fight to leave.
by logging the same account to avoid death and its penalty that user is cheating. the player is bypassing the the time frame for quitting a combat by doing it. and hes doing it by using the software not made for that purpose.
this is clearly a bug, how its fixed is rather simply put on table, but implemented maybe not:
if an account is active it would take something like 30 seconds delay to log in into that account, thus respecting the 10+ time frame for leaving the unfinished combat.
discuss...

Unfortunately this is untrue. I have "forcelogged" on dozens of occasions when moving from the computer at my apartment, which is left in shop mode, to actively play at my girlfriend's house. It forcelogs my dwarf to allow the new connection. This is also very likely the reason it isn't bannable, as normal users will periodically use it.

Granted, I'd rather prefer if they had a 15-second delay on that too--just give the new instance a message "You were previously logged in. New login beginning in 20 seconds..." instead of the current message and we're golden.

Suggestion forum?

I believe it has been officially classified as an exploit of the login function, if you're using it to avoid dying in a situation where the game is designed to not allow you to log out. I can't find the post, though...
This is what I am talking about. Say a Tank agros a bunch of mobs or being attacked by a enemy player and will normally die so the tank put on UD and then Disconnects the internet from their computer which will cause the toon in game to log out shortly after. 3rd party programs is not the issue the question is is it illegal or punishable to do things to force your toon out of the game to avoid dying!
I still see people running trains with more than 10 mobs in it, now is this a banable offense now in C4?

Ok this is as ludicrous as banning someone for force logging or gate hopping
but... your tank must die, then you have to put more time playing the game and more time paying for the game, think of poor gm's and game devs. they must earn their living somehow.

...what the heck have you been smoking? I see no parallel whatseover between that and the current topic, and I'm sure I'll be entertained by your attempt at a justification. :)

Oh give me a break, this one is just pathetic. How about this--if you don't want to die, don't put yourself in a certain-death situation?

If you have to cheat to level, then frankly I don't want you in this game anyway.

Don't pretend that your poor play is due to NC wanting you to play longer. You just suck.
Forcelogging, if done using conventional methods (only w/ official Lin2.exe) doesn't appear in the rules of conduct or user-license agreement.

It doesn't appear to be an official exploit, either, because we've always been free to discuss force-logging including how-to guides on the official forums.

The lack of censor and censure indicates it's permitted, even if it is dishonorable.
When someone is dumping a train on my little character or some higher level guy is getting his kicks pking characters far below his level, you bet I'm going to run far enough so I can log. I don't use the forcelog method, I do my best to get out of hit range long enough to log naturally.

I know this is talking about forcing the client out, but quite honestly, though it can be used by people in situations they shouldn't, I think training is a tactic that deserves forcelogging.
I consider forcelogging a exploit of a bug in lineage 2 which is against the rules. The game mechanics are designed to not allow you to log off during battle and coupled with the fact they added a delay when you do try to use a 2nd client to force log further supports this. Otherwise why have these blocks in place? Would be nice if they made the delay longer to say a minute, that way you could still force log yourself off in case of being on different computer, your client crashes but your still logged in, etc. If you dont want to die carry a BSOE or party with a healer that has instant party return.

wow a first quote, there's a first time for everything lol
anyways, i can feel your painerm ... dude. i know its hard to level and timeconsuming, which brings me to another point, where did u read i cheat or level, i play when i have time, or am home which aint much je he he. you otherwise seem to be overly input into gaming world. my poor poor erm dude?
so yes toon die and drop stuff or dont drop none, the point is you lose experience points by a whole lot. so when are you going to grow up and see a game as it is depends on you alone, other than that its good for your health to get out outside and actually walk.

BSOEs and party return are out of the range of the first time below 40 crowd. Dying once, usually isn't a big deal for those of us in that level range (I am over 40 now but not by a lot) but dying again and again makes you begin to develop tactics to fight people who dump trains on you.

I have NO problem with someone picking a fair fight with me. But when they do train or when they are 20 levels higher, that's when I take issue.

Can I get a translator, please?
I can't find anything pertaining to my comment that force-logging to avoid the experience loss of certain death is cheating, but honestly I'm having some difficulty parsing his response. All I could fine was some unfounded and simply goofy presumption that I never get out. A real answer might be buried in there, though, so can someone else check for me?

BSOEs and party return are out of the range of the first time below 40 crowd.

Suggest an improvement, then, such as a low-grade BSOE (like what is currently in place for tattoos). If your best option is to go against the design of the game, something is wrong.

I quite honestly doubt that when the game was designed it was assumed that training of the type we see in North America was going to be the norm. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd love to know if this is a huge problem with the other countries.
Hate to disagree, but training has been around a long time. I'm sure that NCSoft knew full well how bad it could get.

[edit] Oh, and I say bah! to low-rent BSOEs. Regular soe's shouldn't be 20 secs, and BSOEs should be like 6 seconds (same basically as waiting for non-combat to enable).

there isn't any connection, it was random but sounds just as dumb as asking about force logging.

How is asking about an intentional exploit of the login function the same thing as asking about a typical AoE party? You're really reaching on this one.

The exact same thing could be said about forcelogging.

In fact, the solution to forcelogging was introduced already in the very first real MMORPG out there, so its not like NCSoft didn't know how to solve it and they've never changed it, so I would guess that by now its accepted.

I'm not so sure about that, since I've read more than once that the US market is more ruthless about PvP and inventive with ways to kill other players with exploits. So much so that it took Korea a bit by suprise.

But whether or not it was intentional as part of the design, it's here....and if I can run for a few seconds and log instead of dying in circumstances I have no chance of winning, I'm going to do it. Again, I'm not talking about using any kind of exploit, but using the natural timer, where if I can avoid being hit for long enough I can log.

If forcelogging is acceptable, then remove the penalty where a user cant quit the game while in a combat. since its not even a rule or enforced it becomes:

a double standard policy and issue.

The less fortunate players who dont have money to get 2 computers cant use this function, if you will, and force delog their character when in trouble, whereas others can.
Yeah, I agree its very annoying, but so are alot of other tactics :(

People with better connections and computers always get the nerd's edge in gaming.

But--you don't need a 2nd computer to do the login-force-log trick. You only need a sufficient computer to have 2 of the lin2 client open at once.

This is a rumour from C3 which everyone took as granted. Only a few actually tried it out.

Open 2 clients.
Login to the game with 1 client and hit a mob/player/npc.
"force log" by logging in with the second client while the first one is still connected.
YOU WILL BE DENIED ACCESS FOR 15 SECONDS (same thing as when you would normally force log)

It's not possible to force log instantly.
Yes it is, you do have to actually log in another character though. It will not allow both characters to be in at the same time
I've come across a totally new forcelogging thingie that the b... you know who use.
Let's just say that I can not go purple on them.
LOL, how many of you tried forcelogoff? IT's not possible to log off a character in 1s if it is in combat situation. Even 3rd party programs can't do that. I know that because I trained bots a lot. Usually only healers which aren't in combat situation logs off instantly(you could do the same by restarting). Others using the same method as you can do by turning of your computer or cutting connection to server. Toon from game dissapears after ~10s. IF you log in to used acc it will disconnect that toon only if its not in combat situation otherwise there will be short downtime. Most people think that bot disconntects isnstantly because he disappears when attacking, but you shoudl try it yourself run 2 client attack with 1 toon mob for example and disconntec client(shut down computer, shut down task fromtask manager) and watch from other client how your toon still attacks teh mob and disappears after ~10 second.

in conclusion: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FORCELOGOFF.

 Oh good, thanks for clearing this up
Forcelog = log into account in a separate instance of L2.exe

It is NOT immediate... but works relatively quickly.

Try it yourself:
-Log into L2 on first computer
-Set up a second computer and get to login screen.
-On 2nd comp, type username and password.
-GO back to first computer and hit something then click somewhere to start running away.
-On 2nd comp, hit login. (it will say already in use)
-On 2nd comp, hit login again (it will forcelog)
-For best results, log into account fully on ANOTHER CHARACTER.

The whole process can be completed in well under 5 seconds for those without 3rd party programs.

Technically, you didn't break any rules. It is quite dishonorable though as it severely limits the "payback" of any class that is not a damage dealer and makes going red a non-issue for damage dealing classes if you are aware of how to milk the system to your favor.

Forcelog needs to die.
All they need to do is make it universal. Your character will stay in game for 15 seconds after you disconnect or log in another character or even press the logout button.

I don't feel what I'm saying as reaching your just not getting it.....Games will always have exploits and some are more important than others and I'd imagine someone clearing up a force log problem on the boards cause they couldn't train a bot group is over doing it.

Actually, that's the rumor--that it isn't possible.

Never say "it's impossible" to someone who has done it several times. :)

Did you try merely logging in the second instance or did you sit around and wait? The waiting is optional. Check out what Thalenduros said.

The highlighted portion is, without a doubt, one of the worst excuses ever used to justify a problem in a game. Although I won't speculate as to your gaming habits, it is also one that is frequently used to justify cheating, so you may wish to avoid that argument for the sake of your own reputation--some people will be a lot quicker with the speculation.
Well, we must assume its an accepted exploit just like faking death to get mobs onto other players. Both are functions that work within the client that has undesirable secondary result (killing players without PvP/logging out of the game untimely).

There has been a fix for this since before L2 was even made, yet NCSoft has chosen not to implement it, so we can assume that its something they have in as intended.

Bring it, Besides this is my first ever online game and I wish I knew some exploits unfortunaely I'm way to computer dumb to figure it out. BTW as if I need to justify anything to you, I will tell you 100% legit but am sick of people looking for ways to exploit players in game.
As I said one before, I'm not speculating, merely advising against using that phrase again. In other words, I'm not the one to whom you'll "need to justify anything".

It sounds like you are trying to warn me of somthing that is greater than yourself but I'm just not sure what that is....is it NC soft? is it a mod? Really there is a thing as freedom of speech (where I live anyway) and I'm not one to just shut up cause it will ruffle some feathers. I hadrly think saying there are exploits in all games is a lie! if so please prove me wrong otherwise I don't see why I would change my mind in hopes of keeping my account that i have been upkeeping with NC soft for 2 years....hey it's been time for me to move on, maybe if my accounts are perma banned that will give me the opportunity
Freedom of speech does not apply in private establishments, this includes the game and this forum.

It sounds like you are trying to warn me of somthing that is greater than yourself but I'm just not sure what that is....is it NC soft? is it a mod?

Other players. Other posters.
Potential clan leaders, clan members, alliances.
Possible party members.
You should care what they think...or make sure they never find out who your message-board idenity corresponds to in-game.

Because of my posts, there are probably some people who would not welcome me in their parties/clans. It's commonplace, unless one adamantly practices anon posting. I simply choose to do it anyway; a conscious decision.

Really there is a thing as freedom of speech (where I live anyway) and I'm not one to just shut up cause it will ruffle some feathers.

No there isn't. I think you need to look up what "freedom of speech" entails and when it applies. On this message board, you have no such right. If you do not believe me, start an Off Topic thread about freedom of speech. I'm sure there will be plenty of posters ready to correct your ignorance.

However, that supposed "right" is not the issue, your reputation is. If you didn't know, L2 is a very reputation-biased game, so sounding like a cheater is not going to help your "career". As you are apparently new around here, I was just leaving a friendly tip. If you couldn't tell, it's gone beyond that at this point, but that really isn't my problem ;)

I hadrly think saying there are exploits in all games is a lie!

Just in case English isn't your first language, I'm going to pretend this is an honest misunderstanding. I never said it was a lie, merely that replying on that fact to justify a course of action was an explanation often used by the chronically dishonest.

Much like the "everyone does it" excuse come tax time, it's generally not invoked unless a man is, himself, lying on his taxes.

As the rest of your post is on the misguided assumption that NC cares either way about your in-game or message-board reputation, I don't think it needs to be addressed.

so I will have a reputation of being realistic enough to know that there are exploits in game and some one might actually hold that against me in game? LOOOOL. you seem to be disconnected from reality itself in the text of waking up and thinking that the sky is purple when in fact it is blue.

Your tax comparison isn't a comparison at all....this is a game. Was there anything else in your post, besides rambling that i missed
Hmm, I enjoy my own version of forcelogging... Press the power button on the pc.. or.. pull the plug lol
