Sadly so far it seems like this event suffers from the same mistake the last one did, critical letters. Meaning that over time in total, there will only be 3 letters there are worth anything and the rest are really just filler letters because its those 3 you will need to complete the words.
Thats kind of sad and I hope my observations so far are incorrect. Would have been better if the drop rate was the same for every letter of the same word (high droprate for double letters).
You get letters, its just that if 1 letter spawns less than the others in the same word, then thats not good because thats going to be the one everyone eventually is going to be missing :(
Yeah, there's definitely some key letters. 14k SSD and 3 hours of hunting resulted in 50 letters, and ZERO words. :( Not liking this event so far. Last year my -healer- had turned in a few words within the first 3 hours by soloing. This year my geared out archer can't manage the same feat. Go figure.
Sounds like the pumpkin event, the same sort of things applied. I'd get tons of nectars then none for an hour.

Same here. Zero letters the first hour or so last night, then 6 or 7 letters during the last hour or so. It seems like they fall more and more as you get into it, but maybe its just my imagination.
This event SUCKS. Same mistakes as before. You have little chance of getting mdef, even the farmers dont have it yet.

Yeah it's weird, yesterday I played for like an hour, got CHRONICLE. Today I can almost spell NCSOFT but need the S, and nowhere near close to the other words. And that was over 3 hours.
I got many words, but the letter distribution seem to be the same as last year, hence the same critical letters all over again, with all the other letters being practically worthless for anything but scamming people with :(
I don't see any problem having critical letters. That way, being able to turn in a word is all about finding the important letter, not some other letter.
Even if every letter dropped at the same rate, you'd still have the same problem. For example, "C" is important in two of the words, and is needed twice in "Chronicle". Needing C's would then become the most important thing for the lower words.
It just means that the quest isn't about collecting words, it's about collecting the vital letters. That's fine by me.
Well, for one, its pretty easy to compensate for letters that appear in more than one word. (I also mentioned that and how at last event).
Secondly it mostly defeats trading and enjoyment of getting all the letters. Everyone is only after the critical letters and thats it, there's no, "wow, I need a T, trade you for an N".
Basically after the event, all the letters that aren't the 3 important ones, become spacefillers yet again.
No, the drop rate is totally the same regardless of wether its a 1/2 hp mob, 6xhp mob, level 20 or level 80 mob...hell Antharas would most likely only drop 1 letter, lol.
It seems pretty certain the drop % is the same as last time.
yep, after a 1 day farming I think it is clear that this isn't a word hunt event, but an important letters one.
It's fine by me, but there could be an addition to connect the great piles of common letters to some context.
For example, since this is an anniversary event, the event manager could ask additionally:
50 Cs, 50 Ls, 50 Os, 50 Es for 5 elven firecrackers
50 Cs, 50 Ls, 50 Os, 50 Es, 50 Is, 10 Fs for 2 large fireworks
80 Cs, 80 Ls, 80 Os, 80 Es, 80 Is, 80 Ns, 20 Fs, 20 Ts, for 1 very large firework
Anyway, summs like those. Just so that when you pick one of those letters, you feel "hey I can use this somewhere", instead of thinking that you just picked up some litter.
Just some thoughts.
And about the difference in lvls.
Yesterday I hunted with my main, today with my 15 lvl DE mystic, and I didnt see much difference. I picked IIs and Ses with my DE aswell.
the sad thing is...you cant boycott the event because regardless of what you do you will get letters.
I basically put mine in the warehouse and go on with levellng. I dont look to see what I have accumulated because at a glance I can tell I am missing crucial letters.
I can pretty much guess at the outcome. This is a downsized version of the TOI quest. Where the most needed letters are the ones which will allow you the "chance" to get "nothing of value".
Really? Because this event for me is a great time to play my alts and farm up a mess of letters. You could use that B line for anything. (exp farming, adena farming, quest farming etc). Give it a rest.
Yeah, its good fun to level up alts, though it would be alot more benefiticial if the letters had been equally distributed compared to the words, that would really have made it friendly to all.
