Question about Dion quests

There is an npc in Dion (sorry, forget the name, part of the Black Lion group I think) who has a quest, but says I have talk to someone in Gludin first. I take it this is the person who gives the original Ol Mahum quest. Do I have turn in items on that Gludin quest first, at least once, before I can do the Dion quest? Same with the Matter of Taste quests?

Just wondering, since I don't want to go back to Gludin/Gludio unless I have to... it's a long run!

need to hand in 100 badges to start the dion quest
Thanks, good to know.
Sophia (In Dion) is telling you that you need to do a quest for Leopold (In Gludin) First.

Leopold's quest involves killing Mahum for badges. (Biggest concentration is in Abandoned camp)

Turn in 100 Badges, (I usually get a few extra for safeties sake) and he will give you a Medal. This medal lets you start the quests that Sophia gives. Since Sophia's quests are about the only worthwhile ones doing for most of L30-L40 its worthwhile to at least activate them.

You basically kill Undead in EG, Delu Lizardmen, Marsh Stakato from Cruma swamp for quest items. (Only one set of targets can be active at a time.)

You can get 1-3 talons per every 30-100 items (Items giving 30a each I think.), and every 10th talon gets you supplies (Escape Scrolls, D Shots, Heal/Alacrity Potions) then converts to an Eye. Every eye you have increases the amount of supplies you get on the 10th talon.

You also get some less frequent 'cargo box' items also. You could sell them to an NPC for 5a...or turn them in to Guildsman Morgan for 100-300a (Reward increases as you keep turning them in.) OR you could have Mercenary Redfoot open the boxes for a fee. (NOTE Never ask him for advice...he charges adena for useless text.) It costs 650a to open a box. What is in is worth 500a-10,000a. The 500a items are the most common, and the 10,000a item is rare. Usually you get a mix of 500a and 750a pieces with a few 1,000a or 2,500a pieces. You usually breakeven on opening the boxes to a little profit. Though perhaps not as much as giving the boxes to Morgan.

Some of the 1,000a items are 'pieces'. (Tablets or Statue parts) You need 4 parts for each full item you want to assemble and the parts you get are random. You often end up with 10 of one part and less of the others. You can take these pieces to Rupio in Giran and he can assemble them with a 50% chance of success. (Failure breaks all four pieces without getting anything.) A success gives you a full item worth 10,000a. OR you could take that item to a NPC in DE or Dwarven starter towns and hand it in for 30,000a each.

Going through all the trouble of assembling all the parts and turning them in is potentially the most lucrative...but the parts take up a ton of space and the final reward you may get is usually less than if you just did manor seeds for those levels.

This is all Older Chronicle Info, at least for the rewards. I haven't bothered with doing anything besides handing the boxes to Morgan for some time now. So perhaps the parts take less space and maybe the reward is more...I leave that up to you if you want to verify the C4 info.

Wow, thanks PainAmplifier! That's exactly what I wanted to know. It sounds *totally* worth it -- now -- to go back and get this quest string started. I already have the quest (badges) I just need to run to the Camp and bag me some and turn them in. Seriously, thanks a ton. I really appreciate you taking the time to post all that. :)
