Like many things in the Lineage II world, the players have to come up with their own interpretations of things. And because of the lack of character voice overs, many place, creature, and character names are left to the imagination when it comes to pronounciation.
So tell me, how do YOU pronounce the weirdest of the many strange names and words in Aden.
The one that bugs me the most is the town of Giran. I can't exactly pick a pronounciation that fits it. For instance you could either say (GEE-ran) or (gee-RAN). Maybe even (JEER-ran). None of them seem to fit right, and they all seem awkward when you say them aloud.
while techincally that is correct those sounds are taken out of context. The issue actually stems from a Gaelic base, covered by 6 centuries of german and 2 of french
you may note however that if you use gaelic or welsh pronunciations it's pretty darn close.
I use to call Giran "Jer ran" then many clan members called it "Guy ran" or "gear ran" so now I call it "gear ran" so people know what I am talking about.
Another interesting thing is the word adena. Some people call it like aden-a after the land and the town. With an A as in the word "eh", and den as a wolf's den...along with the "a" at the end with the sound of "uh". I always, and always will call it "Ah-dean'ah" with "a" as in "ah" and then "dean" as in dean of a school or James Dean...with "ah" at the end.
Gear-Run = giran
Glud-In = Gluddin
Glue Dee Oh = Gludio
Ay-dun = aden
Ah-dean-ah = adena
Thats how i say it, never thought there were otherways of saying it o.O.
