Well, for the first time, I could not log on this morning because there were "too many players". I honestly don't care what the reason is. We were told by the big guy himself this would not happen. What else have we been lied to about?

I am sad more than I am angry right now.
Well this is a **** shame.

Ok NC, you heard the man. Time to add more memory.
And while they are fixing the full server problem, could they PLEASE also fix whatever is causing the HORRENDOUS lag we have on Hindemith since C4 came out? Server ping went up from 120 to 300+ on the day C4 came out and has been there ever since. And all consumables have horrendous item lag (when I play my dagger, every 2nd/3rd hit does not use SS even though they are set to auto).

And EVERYBODY has these item lag problems. So it's not something on the player side.
Greetings,

Hahahahahahahahahaha ! How about server transfers ? Or not implementing GG ?

That's the trouble with no afk selling. You've got a TON of players logged in not even playing. This makes it difficult for players arriving and trying to get a spot.

I'm not even talking about bots or farmers. They should just kick oldest shops if server=full AND player.requestlogin;

It does suck indeed, as when we saw smoke, we yelled "FIRE" and got a canned response from the fire chief saying they would upgrade the sprinkler system so no fires would be possible.

And yet our very own SirE's house just burnt down.

*shakes head* **** shame. **** shame.

I have to say this is bad timing SirE.....

You know as well as i do that making a statment like that on the weekend isn't the best thing. That if you wanted Rust, Mistryl, Tisirin or Ornery to comment on it. You should have done it on monday, as we won't get any type of NC responce till monday.
hmm almost all 9 servers were full heavy today, except 1. I think its about time they think of adding a new server.
My question is what would make more people happy....

Increase the over all server capacity or new servers? Remember server transfers may or mayNOT happen. It may mean a new start.
hmm how would they increase the overall server capacity and not cause any more lag? Its bad enough with lag issues right now though. If the server is already at the limits of capacity, the only other way to go is to add more servers.
Gustin just went to Heavy status for the first time since C4. We're used to our good ping and medium population NCSoft-- don't ruin it now.
Well i'm assuming the servers are clustered. So lets say Bartz is a group of 20 servers clustered together and load balanced.

To increase the capacity they would add more to the cluster.
All the servers where full other then Erica.

New server anyone?
ahh if the servers are set up like this, it would make sense. I usually assumed that it was just 1 computer per server designation...heh.
I sincerely doubt the servers are clustered.
Unfortunately, this happens daily on Hindemith. I can completely understand Elro's frustration; I almost missed a raid series entirely due to repeatedly failing my login...there wasn't enough room for me on the server.

Amusingly, I picked Hindemith partially because, a year ago, it was one of the smallest servers. Since C4, it has somehow become one of the top 3, only dropping below Heavy after a reset/crash.

When the only way to reliably allow players to log in is to either play at 2am (it's still Heavy, but you can get in) or to wait for the inevitable crash, something is seriously wrong.
I'll miss ya while your gone!!!!!!!! :(

I have an Idea, lets make it like wow, auction style, and no private stores at all, hey, that just might work.
to bad it wont happen
You really think it is the STORES which cause the servers to be full? o.O

Count the stores in Giran, then leave town and count the you-know-who trains you see.
i am thinking too about getitng 4 more malibu ( 11 euro ) per month :p

needed 43 minutes to get in, than D/C than again a half an hour
People wouldn't complain about the "drone" problem and the over population problem if NCsoft would just kill two birds with one stone. Put it this way if you were to take all the real players out of game the server would still say heavy. Besides it isnt like NCsoft would make more money with all the keycodes they would sell to replace the accounts.

You all don't listen....

I am trying to keep this thread open so we can talk and discuss about the issues Sir E has, and you are all not helping the issue with going off on a tangent.

"Automated Programs" are not a tangent! They are a problem, and a direct linear path to E's problem.

All this hush hush that NCsoft tries to make, just spawns conspiracy. Instead of dancing around the players concerns and problems, they should face them directly...no matter how harsh the truth. In the end people will eaither be hit by the bullet, or just get tired of dancing.

No matter how you look at it, this thread will be locked...and in the end will be deleated. There is no free speech on things that are on NCsofts blacklist. So speak while you can, hopefully the weekend will save it for a time.

I know for a fact what happens with posts that talk about the B issue because they are just grinding the same issue over and over.

If you want change, if you want things to happen. You need to learn how to discuss a topic without touching on that term.

Yeah we really don't need this locked with talk about that stuff again :/

Afk shops, and no matter what kind of player is on, there still should be "room" for them to login. I thought the new architecture was supposed to solve that?
Today was the first time since closed beta i've not been able to sign into Lineage 2, I hope that's fixed quick O.o

Also would like to comment on the problem on Hindemith - the item lag is getting out of hand.I shouldnt be clicking my potion 5 seconds before I need it because i know that it will take 5+ seconds to activate.

HMMMMMMM, I thought I was crazy for a minute there when I thought this thread had been deleted... OH... It was Splatter who used a "revive thread" spell.

Powerfull, very powerfull indeed, Orc.

I agree, this is a SERVER FULL thread, sprinkled with a touch of dark humor from good 'ol' SirE. I loved the obscure begining of a threat...

You folks should try and think of ways to releive the server of some stress. How about logging your buff bots off between buffs ?

I'll try to address everything in one post since a few people seem overly concerned about post counts and I do not wish to further offend.

Those are interesting issues but how do they even matter if you cannot log onto a server in the first place?

I did PM Mistryl after it was originally deleted. She restored it and said it would stay open as long as forum rules were followed. I hope it will, at least, make it to Monday.

I'm going to go ahead and agree with Varaya on this one. AFK shops are not the problem either. I'd bet that the amount of AFK shops is a drop in the bucket as far as server capacity. I do, however, like Darkmotion's idea of kicking off the oldest AFK shop when someone logs onto a full server. Big thumbs up for that idea.

Darkmotion:

HMMMMMMM, I thought I was crazy for a minute there when I thought this thread had been deleted...

It was. Either Splatter's thread or my PM got it restored. I am grateful for that.

Upgrading the servers are not the answer. We all know this. I am confused as to why you attack me rather than address the issue. My post count is not the issue. Full servers are.

ProphetBuffs:

i hope your banned for making a demanding or threatening post.

Like I said above, this thread was originally deleted (not by Mistryl) and then restored by her. I made this post being very mindful of the forum rules. Please read my post again, I did not threaten or demand anything. I only wished to remind the NCSoft staff that, barely two weeks ago, RustNC made a post that was wrong almost immediately.

It's ok honey, people still sell to me ^^
to add better capacity u could put all the dungeons on a new server..

im not sure how it works, but i dont think its 1 server for each "realm" or whatever its called..

or put up 1 or 2 servers with atleast 1 of them with char transfer..

All the servers where full other then Erica.

New server anyone?

The best and worst thing to happen to erica was IamFOB. Ya'll should have a clan train people 10-15 levels lower than you for a month and a half straight.
So much for all the advertising. Worked awesome, drew tons of people...except now we're showing all the newcomers the worst server issues we've had in a long time. I know that, if I joined this game today and saw that I could even log in to half the servers, I wouldn't set up rebilling in the first place.

I love playing L2, I've had a lot of fun here...but if the mere process of logging in becomes a chore, other titles start looking more appealing pretty darn fast. Imagine if I didn't already have a year invested, how long would you stick around? That's the situation our newcomers face. A game they've paid for but can't be certain they'll be able to play.

Would it be too cynical to think that, in reality, this is exactly the way the server issues will be resolved? Irritation leading to lost players? After all, if enough people stop trying to log in, the servers will be able to handle the load, right?

Instead of dancing around the players concerns and problems, they should face them directly...no matter how harsh the truth. In the end people will eaither be hit by the bullet, or just get tired of dancing.

Facing problems would be a new one...
When the last player left the game and the automatons followed because there's noone left to buy all the goods, then there will be no revenue for L2 NA coming in. Guess who'll find themselves sitting on the streets without a job.
The paying (ex-)players? Hardly. ;)

We want Sir Elo to say, who else can flame us in a way we DO understand? So quite frankly we need him. NCSoft needs him, he cna;t be allowed to leave the game.

Now this extra load is probably due to the event but still

So time for grand strategies:

1. Short term resolution: No new characters allowed on servers who are full. This will make sure that the population will decrease slowly as people leave or getting banned.

2. Mid term solution: More server power. Be it clusters or more memory, we need more more more.

3. Long term solution: When the Battle event is done, make that server into a new home.
Im pretty angry about the item lag (soulshot problem). It was NEVER a problem on our server before C4, we also never had full status UNTIL C4 when supposedly servers were updated to handle more, lol. I also noticed the ridiculous regular lag we have had in the past week. However I still get a good ping when I log in, its says 80-100 when I choose my server but when i get into the server that ping must be a lie :p. I can't even blame the lag on my PC (except in rare cases when i know exactly what is going on) because I'll log into a desolate location with lowest settings and STILL lag.
I don't have any trouble logging in my accounts on Lionna. The only problem I have is with spiritshot lag, where it doesn't activate for 6-7 seconds. It is a rarity, happens about 5-6 times per day, but extremely dangerous when having ~100HP doing CDL. Gotten killed more than once by it.

And it only started after C4 with the so called "upgraded" servers...
died here yesterday 2 times, cause of ss-lag
One way to temp fix the problem would be to change server protocol daily. Im more than sure that would help for a lilttle while.
Why can this other online game, EVE have 15k + people on at the same time? How many people are on any sever in lin2 at the same time? 10%?
SirE's is lieing, he just wants a escape route so he doesnt have to make it to 10k posts. Slacker.
I still begin to wonder if more servers or a bigger cluster won't help the issue. This is a quote from the unreal site....

Unreal engine 2

Please note that we don't provide a MMORPG server or networking framework suitable for massive multiplayer games. Though such a task is a multi man-year engineering effort, several teams using the Unreal Engine have done so (including NCSoft for Lineage II and Electronic Arts for Ultima X), demonstrating the feasibility of using the Unreal Engine as a MMORPG game client and tools pipeline, integrated with a proprietary server component.

The thing is Ultima X is no longer, so you cann't use them as an example. I haven't found one game like lineage that use the unreal engine. And i think thats where the server issue is coming from. A heavily modifed engine vers an engine thats built to do what it needs to do is two different things.

All the servers where full other then Erica.

T.T
Oh my, I want to change servers.. Erica sux...

1. Short term resolution: No new characters allowed on servers who are full. This will make sure that the population will decrease slowly as people leave or getting banned.

No good me thinks. Since all servers are full (except one), that would mean no new players.. Erica isnt full yet, but its really near that.

We do need more servers... imo.
We are aware of the problems with logging into some of the servers, and we are looking into it now. Then please fix it quick, cause I'm about to find another game to play.. since I haven't been able to log on today either.
Mistryl, is the issue with Item Lag going to be looked into as well? I thought I was going crazy yesterday while out hunting for letters on my nuker. My spells would suddenly be half as effective, I just assumed it was a bad run of spell failures, but I turned on System and Consumables, and lo and behold, it was my shots not kicking in.

Could Items being left on the ground be partially to blame at this point? With the event going on, and many of us playing fast killing nuker alts, Im certain there is much more stuff on the ground right now than there normally is. I know Im guilty of leaving a mess in the spot I use to hunt up letters, though I do make an effort to clean it up after a buffset.

And that is the problem isn't it? For some reason, players have this idea that unless they make a post on these forums that there is no possible way for NC to find out about this.

They constantly say "send a ticket into support". You can also send pm's to the gm's. (lol :) i made a funny).

But these forums aren't the way to discuss things that fall outside game questions. They are a way for the community to discuss actual questions on game content. They are also a marketing tool. That's pretty much it.

I wonder... for those of you who are white hot angry about anything that NC has done or not done in the past; how many of you have actually sent in tickets to support AND written a letter to the company? Or maybe a letter to the company cc'ing the people who run the company?

Just posting on a game forum is not going to do it. If worded correctly it might raise some awareness (but given the context of what these forums are about I would find it too limiting for real discussion) but I would say that sending tickets to support, contacting gm's and writing letters to the company might have greater efficacy.
You hit the topic right on the head.....

I wonder how many people that talk about the full server or lag issue actually send in a ticket. Or do they just use the "They don't care" excuse then shrug their shoulders, and post away about the problem.

If more people would use the support system we may not even have this issue.

Well bud, this is the board equivalent of a wedgie. I specifically said not to suggest removing bots and of course, some idiot hiding behind his Internet anonimity tried to lure me into a towering rage by, of course, suggesting to remove bots.

And does a person's job bear a meaning ? Of course it does. If I want a lawyer, I ask StThomas. When I want a marketing opinion, I ask Kouijin. If I have an accounting question I ask Patricia. But the thing we have the most around here, is computer science experts. Now since this is a computer game, it's not unusual to see a bunch of computer experts chatting it up about it.

Good board officials pick up quickly on these people, and usually monitor them closely.

And then there is Splatter with his garden hose, feircly guarding Elmore while claiming Orcs rule...

Nope, nothing new could be the cause, it's been going on for too long.
I know some people don't like addressing the bot and farming problems, but for me it's a big problem because they are overloading the servers. I have sent multimple tickets, complains and such to NCsoft and the GM's and I still see the exact same bots running around. The bots have taken over al the decent hunting areas, including the catacombs and necopoloisis. I've been fighting to beat these bots and famers to the mobs and it is a losing battle (no pun intended).

I was doing some thinking and I'm pretty sure NCsoft does not care about the bots and farmers because for every one of them means an extra $15.00 a month for NCsoft, so why on Earth would they try to get rid of bots and famers?

Gee, I love L2 and will continue playing but if the server lag gets any worse I am going to find a new online rpg to play.

I know people will say my post is unwarrented, but those are the one who are probably using bots and famers. Perhaps not, but this is a major issue that needs to be fixed.

Wrong. This narrow sided view may be generally accepted, but it was also generally accepted that the world was flat a little while back...

Anyhow, I didn't feel it justified to report it since my house hadn'T actually burnt down.

But just now, it did. Unable to login. So my house burnt down too. During a short event no less... So that's just about enough for me to report it.

Yes they do care.

I for one sent in many tickets, so far gm xylia (sp?) was only one kind enough to talk about it. I have also telephoned PlayNC support and was told there are many servers to play on, simply choose another server - gee thanks i think not. The server lag, soulshot/spiritshot bug, unable to login has gone unaddressed for weeks now. Also there is a problem with petitioning system now, where petitions come up saying you have already submitted one when in fact you had not. What ever happened to preventative approach to taking care of the servers, why wait until x amount of people b*tch enough before they do something. NCSOFT should know what capacity of the servers are, if they are approaching that capacity they should of had plans in effect to handle this.

Please remember to keep the forum rules in mind when posting so that this thread remains civil and constructive.

To be honest mistryl it's hard to stay civil, when in my eyes alot of people need a good smack in the head with a wiffle bat.
I hope they fix it soon, the lag and DC's arnt helping at all.

It about time NC adds more servers.
Mistryl,

The full servers problem is easy enough to diagnose and fix (albeit expensive if you guys have to do a big hardware upgrade). Doing a big bot banning spree would be a start....I have played since Prelude and the bot problem has never, NEVER been as bad as it is right now.

So my post isn't about the full servers (although I too was not able to login for 20+ minutes today).

Rather, can you please look into the item lag problem. It's NOT a ISP or connection issue, as movement and text and skills do not lag at all. But heal pots/SS/SPS and other consumables do have lag spikes, which everyone experiences at the same time...so it's definitely server side. It results in people getting killed and thus I think it's a serious issue.

I'm sure you know the bug but here is how it manifests itself...occasionally you will use consumables or shots, or pick an item off the ground. But the item will not be used for 5-10 second after that. E.g:

- Use spiritshot
- Spiritshot takes effect
- Cast
- Use spiritshot
- Cast
- Keep trying to use spiritshots
- Cast
- Cast
- Initial spiritshot from 10 seconds ago finally takes effect.

Same thing with picking items up from the ground... you pick it up and it vanishes, but you don't get the yellow system text telling you what it is for like 10 seconds after.

This is a serious bug. It only started happening when C4 was released...no problems prior to that. It does not appear to be tied to server congestion as I have had it happen when the server is in light or normal load.

Please please fix pretty please :) I love this game but it's a shame to see weird bugs like this be introduced when they never used to happen...
I think at that point i would kindly remind the GM, that while thats all and well a nice suggestion. That it's unreasonable to ask a player to abandon his character, when the server is reporting back that it's full and to start new.
Fact is, people don't pay a monthly fee to remember that somewhere, on a server they can't access, is a toon they would have enjoyed playing if only they were able.

Whatever the problem is, NCS needs to figure it out and fix it. They know it.

My post here is only to support SirE and remind that NCS that I and most if us here reflect the opinions helds my hundreds or thousands of players who don't even have the dedication to this game to participate at the forums.

If people like SirE and myself refuse to pay for a game we can't access, how many players who don't put in the dedication we do will do likewise?

1. Short term resolution: No new characters allowed on servers who are full. This will make sure that the population will decrease slowly as people leave or getting banned.

No good me thinks. Since all servers are full (except one), that would mean no new players.. Erica isnt full yet, but its really near that.

Well the temp solution would do a couple of things. First off it would send new players to less populated servers so that the player balance over the servers becomes less skewed.

Secondly, we know that NCSoft dasily bans a lot of accounts for various violations, or that people quit the game. This would mean that the servers that are now "unable to logon" full get some respite and can slowly bleed access weight until levels are more normal.

In the meanwhile, new servers/nardware software fixes can be brought in to fix things for the longer term.

We got upgrades though the question is did they help. Or was the change everyone thought they would bring just wasn't enough?

How does korea address this. I mean they have a lot bigger of a user base then us or is the issue just addressed with more servers. If thats the case we need at least two more servers and character transfers to help balance it.

But then again. More servers aren't the answer if the B issue is still swarming.
My friends today something amazing happened.....

I can't login to Sieghardt due to it being full. GG! Please Ncsoft do something.

Now this extra load is probably due to the event but still

Just FYI, Hindemith started having these issues long before the event.
The only difference is that previously they were intermittent--you might fail one login but you could get in a couple minutes later, items would turn off for a couple seconds every couple minutes--while now they are constant--you will consistently have difficulties logging in and should adjust your strategies to account for item failure, because it's going to happen every fight.

The fact that increased server traffic made the problem go from bad to worse proves what the players of Hindemith have been saying for a long time, and that NC has consistently denied--it's caused by the server.

You know i wish NC was more open with us the players reguarding the status of the servers. Like are they hitting their limit, Are they being over taxed, new servers, character transfers, etc...

As a player i hate the silence.

If people like SirE and myself refuse to pay for a game we can't access, how many players who don't put in the dedication we do will do likewise?

agree, if we can pay, we can have access to the server too

and to splatter:
indeed, for a MMORPG one of the most important things is the communication between the Company and the Players
hardware isnt expensive, its cheap. i bet my pc has more power than the hardware they run the server on.
i found another game to play......its spam the login server,my favorite game when l2 was young and they brought it back!!
I read somewhere but cant find it again. One of the unmentionable online service just increased thier business. Wonder how much that has to do with the servers being so full all the time.

You all know what im talking about.

I find it very plausible that the serverload is simply increased by the event. We were full on Hindemith, but not to this level. I sincerely hope that after this event things turn for the better. We will know in a few days.

On Hindemith, before C4, we had no trouble, but after C4 things has gotten worse and worse.

But since then, a lot of factors are in effect:

- We have new software that can cause all kinda weird problems. Keeping servers up is a somewhat tricky thing. Half the time, the operators cannot pinpoint the problem.

- There is an ad campaign going on to get more players. Well it looks like we can say the campaign is succesfull, I have met a lot of honest newbies here who had no clue how to play. It is always a pleasure to help them out. But new players mean more serverload.

- With nw expensive goodie and more players, the farmers need to put in extra time to keep up with the demand for adana. Hence they need more accounts. More accounts is higher server load.

- We have an event that lurees people to play longer then before, thus resulting in higher server loads.

And there could be more reasons why things are so congested now.

Introducing new servers might lighten the future load a bit as the new players would flock to those servers. It wont help with the current load on the existing servers though. You need a player stop for the congested current servers to speed that process.

But how can it be? All we are is a copy of the korean setup, and i would take a guess and say they don't have the same issues we have.

I would bet they are issue free.
I think the Koreans demanded a fusion of the low population servers in the last interview. So probably they do -not- have this particular problem, quite the opposite. ;)

Good that I still don't play on Teon as a EU player, always able to log into Erica. :) But Erica seems to attract less people than all other servers anyway... wonder why. (hrhr)

Our version is different from theirs. Thats one of the reason they use the PTS first to find out about things going wrong. This is another version of the same software and every change can cause an existing piece of software to fail at an unexpected place.

And even if it was exactly the same software, you would be surprised how often installing software goes wrong. People forget to make minor adjustments, or the hardware in server a is a little bit different from server b. Before you know it, you have one perfectly working server and one that will always be a mess.

Installing software is often a nightmare.
ad campaign must be in china ;) i goto talking island every day and I see absolutely no noobs

That's because they have 32 Servers (http://www.lineage2.co.kr/plus/historyLeadingRole.asp).

Of all the posts, I just happen to check once on this day :)... Why? Because I couldn't log in.
lol china, Nc should do some ad campaigns over here
if everyone cancelled subscription theyd sit up and take notice eh
They are already taking notice...

Anyways we the NA community don't have that type of organization.

I dont as Teon was really full long before C3 and the server upgrades back then helped only for a few weeks. Best thing was, when C4 came there was no "bad" players for 2-3 days and the server was at normal status all the time. But after a few days, booom, headshot. Server full.

The server has weird lagspikes, crashes alot, events start at the wrong time, ss/sps/potions have lag spikes and sometimes the mob server just decides to go on a vacation.

Hardware upgrades and repetitive mass bannings are needed really, since if you just upgrade the servers they will fill up soon enough. And if you just ban people, more will come sooner or later and fill those spots and then some. So we need upgrades+bans.

The server has weird lagspikes, crashes alot, events start at the wrong time, ss/sps/potions have lag spikes and sometimes the mob server just decides to go on a vacation.

Add in the "server full" messages of late and you have why some Hindemith players have stopped their rebilling.

I'm sure NC will fix it eventually, or it will fix itself, but there's little sense in paying for the interum...especially when there are a half-dozen promising titles that I've overlooked in favor of L2.
Disallow most popular automated software client.
Why the hell they even allow other clients to log in the game (other than official client)? Why the hell they allow other clients to bypass Gameguard? Why the hell normal players need to writhe in pain with Gameguard?
I say, there's lots of improvements suggested in suggestions (I mailed them about these) to prevent automated software logins...
But no, nothing is happening. Guess how much their revenues would cut if they did prevent automated software to be used?
It's all about that. They won't do it. They could, but they won't.

Why the hell they even allow other clients to log in the game (other than official client)? This "other" client you speak of is actually the Lineage 2 client. It is the unreal engine capable of not rendering the graphics. Up to date "other" clients match the official client. But the problem with "other" clients is they run scripts. These can be slightly detectable, and through tests can be proven to the fullest. Just takes time, but it is a big problem. Some how we just need to be able for the NCsoft servers to not interact with these scripts. It can be done..but how long will it last...that I am not sure of.

Why the hell they allow other clients to bypass Gameguard? Well because GG wasn't technically designed for these programs you speak of. It was designed for keyloggers that may try to steal your account info. If a "other" client uses a key logger it SHOULD...but not always block it.

Why the hell normal players need to writhe in pain with Gameguard? To make a long story short. Game Guard uses poorly written code...the end!

Other variants apply...remember that though. Just remember where you get your mats from...and that the size of NA server population is lower than Korea to receive these things.

On another note, the servers will be full due to every one knows what, but also more players reactivateing their accounts for the event. After this event and another tidal wave to purge the evil ones, everyone that plays normally should be able to log back in.

Enjoy playing Lineage II!
obviously there are some problems. i could try to figure out where or why the problems are occuring. if i were at work i could ( and would ). however im not at work.

im a customer paying for a product/service. i shouldn't have to troubleshoot the product or help the provider of the service to provide better service. i pay my bills on time and i expect to receive something for my money. currently what i receive for this money is not something i want or enjoy.

have the issues of lag and suspected eula violators been addressed? most likely so. have they been addressed to my satisfaction? no.

there has been talk of allowing bannable offenses to continue in an effort to gain additional revenue. i don't know if this is true or not. however, if an account is banned and its owner purchases a new account (online price $29.99 last i checked), isnt that more than a monthy renewal fee of $14.99? also since the user in question may get banned repeatedly wouldn't the $$ add up even faster ?

when i see an ad campaign that says " come back! L2 is fun again! New login feature available !! " perhaps i will ...

Greetings,

Well, for the first time, I could not log on this morning because there were "too many players". I honestly don't care what the reason is. We were told by the big guy himself this would not happen. What else have we been lied to about?

Hahahahahahahahahaha ! How about server transfers ? Or not implementing GG ?

HEY !!!!

Server tranfers are MY MOTO !

However, I did cancel my billing. Whether I continue or not is up to NCSoft.

I've done the same.
Yesterday I spent 20 minutes trying to logon, the wanted to go duo with Gard into Catacombs but it was full of bots. And they got our mobs and drops too.
I'm sad.
And angry.

I've done arount 10 petitions about nonlegit players in two weeks, nothing has improved.

There are two ways of changing the situation:
- All the legit players go away, then botters will go, then lag for sure. But no one will play, and NCSoft will loose money.
- NCSoft does his job. If there is a cost reduction or whatever in the company they can tell us, then we will get our own conclussions about how interesting is to pay more than one year ago to get worst service.
¬_¬ Give me some more afternoons like this Week End and I may decide to cancel the billing too.
I'm not yet THAT sick of the whole thing. But I am starting to feel abused. And cancelling billings sopunds like a good idea. I can live without a game that anyway is not working.

Of course we do. No one will disagree on that. But the reason why things are so buggy is a mass of variations.

But as I suggested I want bans/upgrades/even new server AND a new toon stop on overloaded servers. The toon stop combined with continued bannings will bring the population down fast to acceptable levels. In the meanwhille they can work on upgrading hard/software. It is a stopgap method, crude but efficient.
Aye, but it's also a method they will prolly never use >.>

Aye, but it's also a method they will prolly never use >.>

That's why I am a vissionair and they are not. But they better start doing something fast now, because people are really fed up with this.

I have seen plenty of them. Real noobs, not farmers.
It is just time to farm the farmers again.
Hello,

Well, regardless of what the cause is of this continued lag and full servers is, they better do something quickly. The increase in complaints on the forums is a good indication that its a real problem and people are getting real vocal about it.

I do hope that RustNC can come up with a solution fast.

Also a side note, please tell all your support reps that telling a customer to "well if your server is full play on another server" is a mortal sin in the customer service world. If I was told that I would not be a very happy customer at all, and it would be followed up by letters and phone calls to very high level people in the company.

I have been a customer from closed beta, a loyal fanboy if you will, but I do remember the days when we only had 3 servers and we could not log on and had item lag. It was a bad time back then and made me rethink if I want to play, and now its back and I have that same feeling. Please do something to correct this issue.

Take care
Balis

Please tell me they haven't seriously been saying that. Given the nature of L2, that would be a mortal sin :p
Definately mortal... not as mortal as "lawl **** whiner, quit and go play WoW noob!!11" but close. ;)

We are aware of the problems with logging into some of the servers, and we are looking into it now. I understand the frustration in being unable to play, and I am sincerely sorry for the inconvenience. Please remember to keep the forum rules in mind when posting so that this thread remains civil and constructive. Thank you!

You can ask people to behave here. But you can't stop people from trash-talking this game in the real world. I would rather let players vent here so that they keep their mouths shut in the game store. (Is this constructive?)

I believe that's what they were attempting by un-deleting this thread.
It would be great if Rust was to comment about this situation. I realize it's still early to expect any kind of detailed answer from him so I won't hold my breath. I will, however, hold my posts (that will excite most of you, I realize).

Thanks to Mistryl for brezzing this thread and most everyone else for keeping it open.

Thats what a PlayNC support told me over the phone friday night when I called in. Naturally I told him what I thought about that and left him speachless.

they actually said that? wtf Talk to your customer serverice reps. k thanks
who cares that ur quitting neways
god i wish i could flame on these boards :(
but i caaaahaaahaaaaant :(
Moving to a new server amounts to abandoning 1-2 years of time and energy put into the character(s) on your home server. I would hope that the rep simply didn't know enough about the game to realize that the suggestion to simply go elsewhere is, in a word, asinine.
Well, I for one hope you do stay. While we don't play in the same server anymore, you were incredibly generous to me when you decided to leave Lionna. And it made it waaaay easier to come back to L2 to at least have a character in good gear to pick up and play with again. Plus, imho, you add a lot to the boards and the game, just with your general style. Still, if I was all set to play the game I pay for (L2) and I sat down to play and it told me I couldn't, just 'cause, I would not be a happy camper.
Yea, we need more servers. All other areas have 30+ and NA/Europe (combined population 1 billion + China lol) has NINE.
Surely this is a no-brainer? Someone at NC better start listening to us.
OP>>> Can I have your stuff?

The rep probably thought that 'server' is like the 'update server' (where which server you use does not matter,) or a router (just different ways to get to the same destination.) If the rep realized that 'use a different server' means 'abandon 2 years of work,' they would not have suggested it.

My interpretation of the 'heavy' situation is that the hardware fix scheduled for the C4 launch did not work as intended. I do not believe anyone lied to us, something just didn't work as planned. I believe enough heat has been generated to motive NCsoft to work on the problem, and we just have to soldier through while they do.

we just have to soldier through while they do

I quite agree with everything but this line. I am paying to play a game--if that game is not available to play (as is the case today, yesterday, the day before, etc.) then I will simply not pay for it any longer. When the problem is fixed, I will probably reinstate billing.

In the meantime, you may see me post in the next couple weeks under my secondary name, as it has a later billing date and thus will lapse later.

No, I am not quitting. No, you cannot have my stuff.

While this may be true (and you guys need to breif to support reps NEVER to suggest this type of thing), i ran this perticular issue through the appropriate channels.

This is just about the most official answer you will get about this, so here it is :

Thank you very much for your report of this issue. We apologize greatly for any inconveniences this may have caused or is causing. We request that whenever you face this issue, please keep trying in order to get in the server, as you would be able to login successfully after a few quick attempts.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you and appreciate your understanding.

Take care,

Greetings,

You're just not listening...

The answer given to me by Alfonso was clear, thankfull for the report, apologetic about the problem and offered a temp solution. It's an EXCELLENT answer to this issue, given how much he knew of it.

You see, in my opinion, it's the kind of answer we should have seen today from Rust. Sorry there Big cheese, but by making that claim, you put yourself on the hook with this issue. Even with Monday ending, still no sign of an official answer. Yet it was so simple, even Alfonso could handle it brilliantly...

Thanks for bringing the thread back, it's what I mean when I speak of overexagerated moderation... You see how these kinds of threads are popular ?

On a side note, a great CM would have covered his boss's *** and would have come up with this kind of answer for him...

This answer is good to brush out the problem and appease the customer for about... mmmm... 2 days?
Customer needs to be appeased and tranquilized, he also needs an answer. But, in the end, what the customer wants is to have his problem fixed.
Question is...
Is the people who can actually fix the issue working on the issue?
From what Mystril said, yes, they are. But that info will also work for so long before people wants results or, at least, an update on what's going on.

Personally that answer from Alfonso wouldn´t help me at all. Maybe just because I've gone throught every one of the levels of customer care that there is. I recognize that answer as one I could cook myself in 0,1 nanoseconds.
Alfonso's answer, thought, has a major flaw. He quantifies how bothersome is to relog several times to log in. Do not ever tell the customer how big his problem is. Squeezing into hindemith is sometimes a matter of relonging a couple of times and sometimes a matter of doing it for 15mins. So do NOT, EVER, imply something like "easy" and "fast" if you don't want to get someone angry.
what?! u cant do that?! u cant cancel billing! thats impossible! such thing has never been attempted!

u cant quit :(
Mass ban time if you ask me.....

...Without farmers and bots all servers would go to empty and would have 80% less people online.
not true, just look at the private servers, and how many people play on them. Many ppl love lineage2, and i think bots and farmers are in minority. But bots are annoying and ruin the atmosphere of the game.
Pull you head out of your ***, they are clearly not a minority, bots n farmers are the majority. You can not swing a dead elpy without slapping one in the face, they are everywhere, they are indeed the most common and diverse species.
Hello

I don't blame the customer service rep personally, he is trying his best with the info he has. Its up to NCsoft to really put it in gear and come up with a solution, or at the very least have someone come to the boards and make an announcement with some info that shows us that they are working on it.

More info is always good from a customer stand point, people like to be informed.

I just hope we hear something soon, because it is very frustrating to spam the log in screen(band-aid).

Thanks
Balis
I don't know why it's so hard to GMs catch a bot. Seriously, take a trip to the areas near:

Dark Elf Village
Coal Mine
Gludin
Downside of Aden (Near the Deprives, Silenos)
Neutral Zone
Dion
Forrest of Mirrors
Near GC
May I say Catacombs/Necros?
And much more places

You don't see legit players (Maybe 6 or less.... in the other hand, the bots parties are bigger than legits players), you only see bots parties running around with C1102012, jKfaidsod, 0001010 types names. Another tip is that the bots rarely uses SoulShots.

So I ask, why Gms need us to report them???? And even if we report, rarely they get banned.

Please Mystril, don't press the close buttom hammer on this topic, we are talking civilized here. We, the legit players, need more respect, I mean, Bots are ruining this great game that we love. We (legit players) can work side-by-side with NC, but we need more feedback from you, not automate response from Gms that rarely ban bots.

Ok you seem new around here, Please don't start to talk about the "B" word here, it will get this topic locked and many people don't want it.

There is a place you can talk about the "B" word HERE (http://boards.lineage2.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=444817&page=0&view=collap sed&sb=5&o=&fpart=11#Post558883444817)

I don't take on the poor guys answering fisrt. As said, I do know what's like being there trying to satisfy angry people when you can´t really do anything. They're probably also support for several games and not everyone can know everything. They gave as good as an answer as they could and in case you didn't know that if you keep trying you finally manage to go in, after this answer you would know.

But someone said it was a good answer. And I just say it's an acceptable one to pacify us for a little while.
But really, untill now best answer has been Mystril's, as short as it was, at least we got aknowledged. We know they know and that they are checking. I don't expect it to be fixed fast.
In fact, if the event proofs to be the source of server fulls and NCS decides to not do anything once the server is back to normal I expect it to happen again at next event.
But, in any case, we´ll need some extra info if nothing changes and/or if it stops after this aftrnoon reboot and then it happens again at next event.

And please, everyone, let's leave alone the B subject, we don't want this closed. It's already been said, we all have it in mind, it's useless to repeat it.
Ok, sorry :(
stop buying adena from the B words.....problem solved.....don't blame ncsoft for something you all do. I'm sure more then one of you who buys gets on here and complains about the b words.

Don't buy hypocrits and we would'nt have posts like this.

I realize that, of course, definites aren't possible, but could we get some kind of status report? Such as "we've looked into X, Y, and Z and are currently evaluating the merits of each"...I know you can't give definites on solutions, as the problem isn't solved yet, and you can't give timetables like "in a week", since nothing goes acccording to schedule, but something more than a "trust us, we're working on it" would go a long way.

Or, to put it another way:
WTB light at the end of the tunnel.
They cant go into detail too much because then it would provide those bots with loop holes as to how to get around it.
If they say they are working on it, then we just have to believe them, although it would be nice to know if they take player suggestions into account.

Ban the bots on a REGULAR basis and you won't have overloaded servers. Seriously, anywhere you go you see more bots than real players. I'm not kidding here. Go to the newbie areas, go to Valley of the saints, go to any necro, go to Wall of Argos, go in Imperial tomb.

Come on NC. Look and ye shall find.
Well it seems like the players know what is causing the problems. It is super full servers...even though I can barely ever find anyone to play with. :( Everyone out hunting is really rude and never responds, or they already have a full party... I am getting tired of the BS, so I too have cancelled my billing until the issues are solved.

Come on NC. Look and ye shall find.

We have been and continue to ban bots on a regular basis. As before, we will not release numbers each and every time we ban. At present we ban in large numbers, multiple times a week. Also, despite perceptions, bots are not the core of the issue.

Mistryl's post above is the best summary of the issue as it stands. We are presently working on the issue, have been working on the issue and will continue to do so.

Sorry for not being on the boards as regularly as I would like to be, but Mistryl is doing an excellent job and is our official representative. Please understand that my absence is an indication that my efforts are focused on this and other aspects of Lineage II.

Also, despite perceptions, bots are not the core of the issue.

I feel the core of the issue are the people that buy the adena which is what gives us the bots that feeds the supply. Maybe we need to deal more harsher with the people that are feeding this monster.....

If bots are not the "core of the issue", then i would be simply shocked to discover what is.

But wutever, ive got no disrespect for yall.

GL with your work rust, get c5 on out here ^^

It's simple, if bots are the supply the core issue is the demand. If you remove the demand you remove the supply. And it's not about making drops more...

Make the buying of ingame money, the one most deadly sin in the world of aden. You make people aware that it just one time, to lose it all.

How? Its almost impossible to prove that any1 has fed the monster.

You've got it backwards here. Remove SUPPLY, not demand. There is a reason that police irl go after dealers of illegal substances rather than users. Economics tell us that if you remove the supply (ie ban bots) and the demand stays the same, prices will skyrocket past the average person's ability to pay for it.
This will, of course, have the unintended effect of bringing new adena sellers into the market, as the profit margin will have gone up and the competition will have gone down, but all it takes to fix this is constant monitoring my the GM's and new methods of catching the EULA violations.

Well, I can truly say that I'm underwhelmed by this response. My post (i.e, the original one in this thread) had to do with full servers, not bots. At one time you stated that some of the servers getting full were because of new Euro-players. Are they the "core of the issue"?

Except for the GameGuard addition, I used to be one of the biggest NCSoft fanbois. Used to be...

I have to agree, Mistryl is doing a very good job and for as much as we pound on her she is one tough cookie to put up with some of the crap we through at her. Much respect Mistryl!!! Tell RustNC you get a raise!

RustNC, so being the boss I have a question for you. What percent would you say you spend in meetings? My guess is like 125% ;)

Continue on, and I look forward to the solutions that are on going, and the ones in the future that you are currently working on.

The thing is SirE...

Rust didn't reply to your post, but someone elses about bots.

The servers are getting full for a variety of reasons. Success of marketting efforts, European influx, and high levels of response to events are just a few I could cite.

The bot aspect was in response to the usual comment that if we combated bots we would solve the issue. That statement is not true on a couple levels and that's what I was explaining.

All I can tell you right now is that many people are hard at work on L2 and making sure you can enjoy the service. When I have something I can communicate to you further, I will. I'm sorry if this is not a satisfactory response.
Yeh so give us another Euro server then, Teon is FULL and your still marketing at us euro's? wtf?
You can have all the sellers in the word, but if you don't have one buyer those sellers are useless. We have been talking about the sellers for a long time and has anything really changed?

It doesn't look like it to me, time to go afters those buyers.

Now now, don't shoot the messenger. RustNC said many people are hard at work, working on a solution. I have no reason to think he is lying to us, then again if he was I would be the first to make sure he is held to the flame.

Very good news...

So tell me Rust... Are new servers in our future at all? And what about the idea of transfers to help relieve the currently crowded servers.

Yes very good news!

Problem about transfers is currently with out new hardware there is no point, all the servers are reaching Heavy/Full.

Then again if some new server went up, then we can start a new thread about transfers to these new servers.

Balis
We did get new hardware, but is heavy... full anymore?

Just because the server is reporting back as heavy may not mean it's at it's limit. I wonder is there a setting beyond heavy?
I keep getting refused access into teon and bartz, the server says heavy and i still get the FULL message. The new hardware did jack.

Yes, there is a setting past Heavy!

"Ludicrous Speed"

HELMET No, no, no, light speed is too slow.

SANDURZ Light speed, too slow?

HELMET Yes, we're gonna have to go right to ludicrous speed.

ALL gasp.

SANDURZ (gasp) Ludicrous speed? Sir, we've never gone that fast
before. I don't know if this ship can take it.

Rust, can you just take a run through wall of argos, screenshot all the characters with funny names, and ask yourself... are we really incapable of discovering the adena trail that starts RIGHT HERE, and ends in a real money transaction?

You have the server stats (i would assume), and I don't, but I challenge you to show me one hunting area on the map of Bartz Aden that has more legit players than farmers. Note I didn't say bots. I said farmers.

(Except for catacombs on bartz, since everyone, including farmers, was signed up for dawn)

I honestly don't think you could do it. And anyone who plays this game will agree with me. I'm not talking about bots. I'm talking about farmers with funny names, who use 3rd party software to control 9 players with one live person who can respond to "hey, this is gm, are you a bot?"

You've managed to create a world populated mainly with farmers. Saying that it's the players fault by creating demand is like saying it's baseball fan's fault that players use steroids because they applaud their success. Of course if players can supercede months' worth of grinding by spending a few hours' worth of real life money, some will do so. Many will do so. Just as if baseball players can supercede years of training and inborn talent with a few pills they will do so.

As long as they can get away with it.

I think that bots are not the core issue. Farmers are the core issue. It's the most observable step of the RMT supply chain and when farmers blatantly farm the same spot for months on end despite constant petitions, and then you say it's not the main issue, one of two things are true:

a) Those non-english speaking players with unintelligible names are actually legit players, or
b) They are not legit, but you cannot prove them to be real money traders.
c) I won't list an option c b/c what would go under option c would be a nasty and unproveable thing to say on my behalf.

This is, I think, the viewpoint of most players. Fix the problem in part b), or lose your legit playerbase.
My view point is...

Farming in a spot 24/7 isn't against the rules...
Weird names are not against the rules....

Do you think they don't know all this? They have rules and policys they need to follow as they are a company. The last time i checked most companys don't do things just on gut instinct.
Splatter,

If account sharing is against the rules, and assuming that people sleep/eat/get sunlight/see their family/go to work/school/parties/any of the above, then 24/7 farming IS AGAINST the rules. That's just common sense.

Funny names aren't against the rules. But I'm not advocating we ban people with funny names. I'm suggesting unintelligible names as a clue to PROFILE likely policy violators. Are you debating that point? If so, have you..ever... played?
This thread has remained open this long so that we could address the concerns presented, so I am closing it now. We appreciate all of the useful comments and feedback that everyone has provided.
