Hiya all!
As a legit newbie with chronic 'no cash syndrome' I'm wondering if it isn't better to just sell letters I find, than to try spell a word actually. I know it's fun to collect whole words, but since I started playing I had hard times getting cash, and this is a perfect opportunity to get me some adenas for my 'revo fund'. What do you think?
It's different for different letters, look in the main forum for the tread discussing what letters are rare, those can go for a mil or more.
So it's entirely up to you, do you whant to gamble by turning in words, or to get pocibly lower but stable profit. Remember you can get a few mil worth of reward form words. And the best jack-pot can go up to a few hundred milions. Peoplesaid that those rings are sometimes in players stores for like 1bil adena.

lemme check :) ****, none of these are yet in my chest :)

well I'm used to be playing on the safe side :)

omg :) well if they're so rare it' ll be almost impossible to get one imo, that why I wondering if it's logical to gamble something worth few hundreds thousands of adenas to get a buffscroll worth 100k?

1bil adena... why in earth would you make an event with that kinda profit!? Where were the times when someone put a lil effort in playing and climbed a mountain of challenges to prove themselves? Now its just gambling about millions and billions of adenas through events, and then buy the dam top-gear as a complete newb and grind like hell. Pfft!
It's same for everyday playing too, but not so obivous. You can get a full (high grade) wearpon drop, or a full A helm drop or something, sell then buy what you whant and "grind like krasy".
Or you can even run into that 1 in a lifetime deal of somone missing a bunch of 0's and get a SA 12 for 400k or what ever.
Calm down, Bathory ;)
NCsoft doesn't decide what you sell stuff for. If anything, blame the playerbase for being greedy/stupid/lazy.
It's possible I read your post wrong, so bearwith me, if my reply didn't make any sense.
For the OP, IMO you have a better chance of making more money by selling your letters.Of course there's a small chance that you'd get lucky and getsoem of the better prizes. I have handed in many words, and I have so far only gotten buff scrolls and BSoEs.
Yea ofcuorse the ppl are the ones to blame primary. But that doesnt excuse NC Soft who are pushing the limits with these kinda events, they know very well that there gonna be a battle for highest profit.
I cant blame them though for making the events like this, MMO is apperantly all about money (down to square one), at least in these times.
So its a smart move for em to lure ppl into the game by making high-profit-events. Same thing about the event for opening C4, all quests suddenly got very rich in items and adena. Still i think they shoulve brought the ongoing event with less great prices, items of wich you can make 1bil is just ridiculus.
And if it wasnt about the money at all this event shouldve only granted mages big-time, so its not fair in any way.
I'm sure that the cost of the ring in a private store was 1bil because the person just wanted to show it off....didn't actually want anyone to buyit...like if he put the price ata reasonable level it would be sold and he would no longer have a really rare item to show.
If your a lowbie, have never played the game before and have limited funds. I suggest just selling the letters. Don't know about your server but on my server even the C's are selling for 20k each. Thats a huge profit for a new player.
The chance of getting that ring is not worth turning in the letters. In my case I have plenty of adena for now so I turn in words except LINEAGE II because the profit margin for selling II is just 2 high.

heh, in dion on teon I have trouble selling common letters for 5k :) but even this is, as you said, huge profit for poor newbie :)

Quick bit of bkd: I started LII in August 2004, but I ended up leaving for a long time (first for FFXI, then for WoW, because of my friends). But, now I'm back to stay. However, my 'main' is only level 29 and were it not for SirErohir I would have hardly no gear. However, thanks to SirElrohir and then Kiriana (who taught me the manor system) I have top D-grade armor and a Sword of Revolution +2. Still, money was real tight going into this week (I returned to LII last week).
Thanks to this event I now have over 4 million adena, and I hope to be close to 10 million by tomorrow night. I just *might* have the 20-22 mil I'll need at level 40 when I can use C-grade without having to sell my D-grade first. Considering this is my only character on Lionna, that's amazing.
The way I see it, this event is awesome. If you're already rich and powerful and enjoy the gambling aspect of turning in letters for a chance at insane items, then more power to ya. And if you're poor like me (but determined to be rich and powerful... someday) then grinding greens and selling letters (especially II, S, R, A, G, T) is a great money-maker.
I didn't know about this event when I decided to come back to LII. But, a few days after I got back it started, and the timing (and income from it) couldn't have been better!
