So, as the event winds to a conclusion this morning (drops stop at 10am CST), how would you rate the event? Did you turn in lots of letters and get some great items? Did you turn in lots of letters and get burned every time? Did you sell letters and make a ton of money? Did you mostly ignore the event and now you have a bunch of letters that are annoyingly clogging up your inv window? What's your take on it?
For me, a recent returnee to L2 (came back one week ago after a long hiatus) it was a godsend. When I returned I had about 600k adena and was still using a NG sword (Falchion) and a full Brig Set (with many pieces not EAD'd). Now, a week later, thanks to selling letters in Giran, I have over 5 million adena, a Sword of Revolution+3, my Brig set and all other armor are +3, and I still have some more letters to sell. So, basically, in one week I made about 6 million adena and my character isn't even level 30 yet. All I did was hunt greens, seed, and collect letters.
I was able to get 1 million for II's, about 450k for S's and R's, and lesser amounts for G, T, and some of the other letters.
All in all, I am pleased with what the event allowed my meager little strapling of a character to earn.
I posted this in another thread, Copy and Paste FTW!
The aftermath of the Event for me is :
A bunch of L2Day Scrolls to resell
18 BSOE that I'll keep for my own use
Around -10Mil from buying II and S (I just couldn't stop myself :( )
I didn't really think I'd get 1 of the rings, but I did hope to get EWB to enchant my futur B grade, but I didn't get some.
But All in All I did have fun with the Event which is the most important thing. And I got Mylana, my Elven Scout, from Level 20 to 30 just hunting for letters, which is nice.
The most funny thing fron the event is when I decided to just drop my remaining letters (around 100 of them). I started running around Dion droping them, then when people had start chasing me, I just sat there and drop the letters all around me 1 by 1. It was really funny seeing around 10 peoples running around me to get the letters before the others. :D
I had great fun with the event. I found a group of unmentionables that were VERY poorly setup. Totalled about 8k D crys, a bunch of materials, and oodles of letters. I could continually scroll rezz thier dwarf and she would carry on fighting alone and die since she'd lost all her gear already. I believe I sent her under D grade masteries.
But I turned in a ton of letters, and was..sadly disapointed with the results. I was turning in 5-10 words a day, and only recieved enchant scrolls twice(4 EWD 3 EWC). I didnt NEED more BSOE/BRezz honestly.

Hehe, that must have been funny. I actually saw your character in Dion last night, for a moment, but I didn't stick around long enough to see your letter-dropping-activity!
First 'lineageII' swap....EWA, I am wooohoooo overjoyed, but the rest of it? I wish I had become a ruthless person and sold them for extortionate money. But I just couldnt stop myself from turning those words in........tsk.
Its a bit soul destroying when you see dwarves sitting in Giran with 180 of the II's to sell. BUT, I enjoyed it, it was fun.
i got a few focus scrolls(not too bad for me cause i'm an archer)
and 1 Bres...i only turned in 4 words...cause i hardly play on the weekends...and didn't play at all on sunday :( but i like this event
now i can go buy a Bsoe for 100k :) i love it

I actually did that Sunday night with my character Mylana, so you didn't miss anything yesterday night.
Sunday before I went to bed, I bought a last II and exchange a LINEAGEII, got 3 BSOE and I decided to just drop the rest.
I knew that Monday knight I wouldn't have much energy left to start hardcore grind again.
it was pretty good. i got some Bsoe that i sold for 150k, which i later used to buy my first D grade armor. after that, i sold some letters for 8k and an R for 40k
1. They didn't change the critical letters, which means those who knew what they were from last time, either scammed others with them or were disappointed 95% of the time a letter dropped since they knew it was worthless.
2. Reward distribution was worse, far too much difference between low, medium and high. After over 100 words turned in, the best you get shouldn't be 4 EWD. More frequent enchant scrolls would have made the gap less frustrating
3. Time. The event didn't last long enough, it could have used a 2 week period.
Other than that, I love the letter event, they are pretty **** fun otherwise. I hope they change things for the 3rd letter event.
Oh and the rings were a great idea, though perhaps a tad too rare.
I got one II and 2 S's this entire event and I farmed pretty much non stop. I made out with a few shield scrolls, a death whisper scroll, one empower scrol. One BREZ, 4 BSOE's and 3 EWC's. I figured the enchants would be given out at a bit of a higher rate.
_1_ II and it dropped only minutes before the event ended. Mind you, I did 12 lvls on my alt nonstop killing mobs and got over 450 letters. 400 and 1 is II(oh, and 2 S...). GG NCSoft, what we gonna do with 150 C or 100 O?
6- for the event, agility scrolls(Agility is a waste of a buffslot) and the rarity of some of the letters make it lousy.
I ended up getting my 2nd II off a dion grizzly last night and a S off dire wolf. So I made my 2nd lineagII and got a shield scroll (yay). bad drop rate all around and too short
I got a few S's and R's, and scored a few BSOE's and Brez's, a couple of empower scrolls, but the one II i got and turned in.......gave me 3 agility scrolls....LOL. Did better last L2 Day. Still have 4 words to turn in when I login later
The event was good, lots of fun. I got some stuff, nothing great...but more than I had before the event.
I am puzzled by the posters who complain that they got free stuff, but not as much as they wished. 14 BSOE, used well, means 14 less deaths. That is a LOT of grind avoided to regain loss percents.
it sucked of course. who cares about brez/bsoe/ewc etc? we wanted orfen/core ring and no-one, not even farmers got them on my server. so i guess the drop rate was 1/250k or something stupid.
Only thing I got was buff scrolls and BSoEs. My old clan leader left me *a lot* of BSoEs, and I'm a buffer on both main class and subclass. I did get a few wind walk and empower scrolls, which I can use, but mostly I got things that are of no use to me. No enchants, not even an EAD.
I agree that the event should have lasted longer, but over all I'm happy, because the letter events are a lot of fun, after all :)
This was the most horrible event that I've done. I spent an average of 12 hours out of town nonstop leveling each day and got 3 II's 8 S's and about 20 R's. The hard letters dident drop for crap, making it impossible to use my 200+ common letters, in the end the only thing I was getting were acumen scrolls, might + shield scrolls, which are just worthless when you either mainly group or box a buffer. The rewards for the time spent were totally unjustified and if I had the chance to do it again I wouldent have wasted the time or ss/sps money grinding my brains out until I passed out at my pc. Worst Event EVER.
I spent about 42 hours leveling, only got one II and 2x S.
I have enough letters to spell LineageII NCsoft & Chronicle about 100 times over, but i lack all the critical letters.
Drop rates were good i reckon?
I turned in about 100 words I hunted 1/2 hp mobs with my necro one shoting them and regened with a 75 SE so I stocked up on letters even bought 30+ R's from a poor farmer that had them misspriced. I knew chances for the jewls were rare but I was hoping a few people would get them so we could try to buy them off them. In all the words I turned in I got al buff scrolls, brez, and bsoe and 1 turn in for 4 EW D scrolls which are garbage basically. Event wasn't bad though however lasted no nearly long enough coul have at least been a whole week. Also would have been nice if R,S,II were more common buff scrolls are seriously no big deal so who cares if ncsoft gives out tons more its more helpful to players without messing up any economy.
Honestly I just hope they do the pumpkin and Dark lord events again! Pumpkin event made everyone rich and Dark lord event was jsut the most fun all around
RaidBoss event was the most fun, Pumpkins were the most profitable, and the Medals event were the most fair with the way rewards were, everybody got tons of them.
maidboss was only fun for those in clans/super organised clans. or do you like to raid with strangers?
Shure it's a game focused on player interuction, but..
I still have scrolls from last year's event that are just collecting dust in the warehouse. Buffs are a fleeting commodity. With the uber rare drop rate of the II, that thing should have been dropping nothing but the Rings, Enchants Weapons (grades D to S), and Enchant Armors (grades D to S).
i turned in 2 words, 3 guidance 2 shield, with casual grind
having different letters with different drop chance is, IMO, a really poor way to setup an event. at the end, the useless letters are just a waste of space and i couldn't turn in my normal quests properly. however, i have no problem with the reward since more reward == deflation for the said item's price.
i think the better way to setup the letter drop rate is to have different drop rate for each category of classes. the category is just like how NC divide them for the tourny event. then just like party quest, whoever is gonna get the drop determines the letters drop rate. this encourages ppl to try doing the event with different classes instead of loading up the hardest hitting class and farm away, and it also solves the problem with useless and rare letters since different category of class has a different drop rate for each letter.
I'll have to say, I was disapointed they didn't change the event at all from last year. Maybe a few more words (and letters to go with them). Maybe make it a word game or something. I don't know, I kind of expected it to be different somehow.
The drop rate was insanely poor. Good event for farmers, not so good for everyone else. My favorite is still the raid bosses, I met a lot of very nice strangers in that event and I'm still using the spiritshot I got during it. Events that are more than just more grinding are definitely the best.
have hunted for about 20-30 hours under this event, me and a friend of mine both collected the words togeter. What did we get?
Well yeah thats what we got, nothing.... yep never managed ot pull in a complete word at all, and no I'm refusing to buy the missing letters for so much, not worth it at all.
Very sucky events, the drop rate of this letters where also absurb on eu prime time, about 5-6 per hour.
But then again, all NCSoft's events have always sucked, specialy as they PUNNISH non US players becose drop rate of this event items is always extream lowered on non US prime time to 'fight bots' oh by the way to fight NON US players to actually.
The pumpkin event was the worst of them all, on EU prime time I got about 5-10 per hour, I stayed up later one night thoght, and managed to get about 70 of em per hour.......... yeah... FUN
Having buffs like Haste, WW, Acumen and Agility on those buff scrolls suck imho. You can get Haste, WW and Acumen in a bottle and Agility is the most useless buff in the world unless you're a dagger or an archer. And getting Agility scrolls from LINEAGE II, that was insanely hard to complete, sucks. I even got 2 full drops in the time I got _1_ II so it had a lower chance at dropping, bah >.<
Has anyone noticed a trend of getting your best turn ins early? I've talked to a number of people now who got their best drops in the first 5 turn ins.
My main can solo just about 2 greens before resting... (Solo = no buffs)
With a nuker I could collect just one CH ONICLE, lol. A bunch of worthless letters now. But I was not online often. I play since C1 but could never turn in any event items beside the medals. :D
On Lionna that "stupid" ring is selling for around 1 billion adenas.
Thats 1 000 000 000 Adenas.
most offers i carently resieved for it vary from 600k to 20mil cash (I think those people are cheap  and since i'm greedy :) i still have that thing in my trader)

I'd offer you 15mil for it since it's only what I got right now. :p

And why, anyways you got cat in your's avatar? I'm the one with cat avatar here !
I am not pleased with the distribution of rewards from the hours upon hours of farming. A disproportionate amount of buff scrolls were awarded for the top prize, "Lineage II." Given how hard it is to get "II", I feel that buff scrolls should not have been one of the top rewards unless they were Intensity 4, or were spells like Vamp Rage or Bodily Blessing, which aren't found on pre-existing buff scrolls. Most of those scrolls were worthless, given the levels of players currently in the game.
But I am glad that everyone seemed to be participating in the event. That's what really counts, right? (Yes, next time I'm selling the letters too.) :D
