Because very very good equipment is, and sould continue to be, very very rare. If it is common, it is not special. NG is common, it is not special.
While this isn't a historical game, perhaps a historical analogy would help. Consider the middle ages, the armor and weapons of the highest classes of nobility were far different and better than that of peasants, lower and middle nobility. Same thing in L2.
Considering that S-grade is the new "nobility" equipment, A-grade should be alot more common. Especially when A-grade weapons and jewels are now everyday items. Hell, there's more A-grade weapon parts and recipes than B-grade parts and recipes on the market.
If you make a historical example, you should also take into account the differences in different social systems of that time. You can hardly describe L2 as a Feodal(castles != feodalism, it takes more than that) system so why should it follow the same lines then?
Depends on the A grade. A helm costs have gone through the roof, making completing a set next to impossible. I can see A grade being for the "elite" in c3 but by the track record of other Chronicles, it should have been easier to people to get it in the next new Chronicle. Not just as hard, or harder.
I have to agree with the point listed about elite items being tough to get. In earlier chronicles new items where made easier to get because they were stilll middle grades. When A grade came out b grade became easier but hey there was still another grade to be above that. Now A grade is tops unless you are super Elite and 76-78. I don't see a problem with A grade the way it is now cost is fine however I wish Recipes where a bit different. A fail at 60% breaks most people those especially who craft weapons should change them so just the recipe and the item parts such as blades or fabric are lost other mats maintained.
A grade is pretty much end game for most players. Its really hard to get to 76+ to use S grade. I'm pretty sure that A grade will dominate the market for a long long time before S grade becomes mainstream. Maj helm on Sieg is 98m, SoM 60m and lower.
Tallum helm was 27mil in C3, now it's 90mil+. DC was around 50, now it's over 100. NM/Maj were at 80-90mil, now at 150mil.
Cheapest A-grade weapons are 30mil so really, the helmets are a bit too expensive if you consider how many weapons you could buy with the same money. You can have even 2 TOP A-grade weapons(SoM, Soulbow) with 1 NM/Maj helmet price and still have some money left.

The other deal is, people are leveling their mains more now, so more people are wanting A grade. I believe more people were playing alts in C3.

or perhaps, more simply: In previous chronicles the demand was low for the helms, while the supply was constant. And now more people are hitting A grade.So naturally as more people hit A grade and because of the questing to get it, not drops, the supply has remained constant.
And we all know what happens to the prices of items that everyone wants but there just are not enough to go around.

just looking around giran i see plenty of S grade weapons armor and recipies but i can take my pick of about 3 A grade robe recs
my complaints not really about the items being availiable its just i think when i want a recipie it should be availiable

The price explosion is caused by the raid-boss nerf. Full drops are way too rare now. Tallum/DC were easy to get thru raidbosses in C3, now insanely rare in C4.

QFE. EXACTLY. I had a number of people that said "oh just wait until C4, helms will be much cheaper then". Just about everyone thought this and held out until C4. Then when helms were just as hard to get, if not HARDER all those people that decided to wait are scrambling to complete their sets.
isn't the cost gone up because raid bosses don't drop a full helmt now, only the mats, and the only way to get a recipie is through the ToI quest, which everyone knows...is messedup
Raidbosses do drop full helmets still, but very rarely so the influx of new helmets has dropped significantly, thus the prices going up. All this would be solved with A-grade armor recipes as spoil from various high end mobs. Weapons and jewel recipes can be spoiled already, why not the armor recipes too then? It's just pure madness that a helmet costs more than 2 top A weapons, or as much as 5 times the low A weapons.
The weapon should be the most expensive item, not some [censored] helmet >.<
Raid bosses do drop the helms, we've gotten NM helm, and draconic so far. But with the rarity of some helms, we can't even trade the farmers BOTH of those helms for one maj helm :/
Yes it is a shame how bad it has gotten. I am borrowing a helm right now. I was one of the people who was waiting for C4. But now I can't decide wether to buy the helm or get my SOM its much cheaper. Oh what a delima.
