My crafter hit 58 ast nite and ofc i was excited about geting the Big boom pet. Ofc i also knew, from reading posts here, that since C4 he might not be as powerful.
But figured i would try him out in CT2 with some DL's. So i get rdy, pull 3 grps of DL's n proceed to my usual spot for quick demolition of these guys, but this time i say to myself, im guna summon a big boom so he can hlp me out in geting rid of all of them.
Well i get all 15 mobs on me, start wacking away, then use the detonation button (which i think might be on a timer... please confirm) and it takes for ever to detonate but when it does, to my suprise, i dont think i droped all the mobs to half their HP and didnt even kill one conpletly, and there like L. blue and D. blue.
So ofc i die...lol didnt time this very well...it happens...lol
but i figured that if all the mobs are bunched up together n the big boom is in the middle of that, then he would spread evenly is destructive force.... but it wasnt very impresive to watch...
Is big boom really not usefull anymore, any warsmiths out there with some advice on this... Do you guys still use him to powerlvl ur alts or even urself....
Well the big boom only really worked even back in C1 - C3 with Empower buff on it. Its M Attack is only 483 or something without Empower. Once you Emp it, it goes up to 850 or so making it do alot more dmg.
The only think Big Boom is good for these days is still to Power Level a toon up but its been nerfed alot. I've been able to successfully Power Level toons up to 30 with it taking like 2 hours by using a SE and a SWS to help. SE Emps the boom and heals hte SWS while the SWS runs and gathers up the mobs.
I won't tell where to do this because then NCSoft will do what they normally do and screw everyone over and "Fix" something that isn't broken. If your not a Archer or Mage then NCSoft doesn't give a piss about you at all.

So if i buff it up n concentrate on 1/2 mobs maybe then i will see n improvement, thx guys....
C4 made big boom worthless!! It was really only usefull on 1/2 hp group mobs before now however Its blast area is changed and It draws agro on the WS so if you use it on mobs and they don't die expect to fight for your life!
big boom is not worthless at all it just takes alot more money now you need it emped with blessed sprit shots and you can do some real dammage and if you want to do huge trains grab a tank friend you can still get to 4o in about 6 hours 52 in about 4 days

my lvl 4 big boom with emp and sps cant even kill lvl 40 mobs,
of course if you had a tank and a healer you could prolly pwn those lvl 40 mobs..... with a 70+ boom costing about 10k per explosion
dont know where ppl got the idea that big boom was such a good xp tool that you could have 3 ppl in party and make good xp and adena
should also note that unlike c3 if the ws is out of range drop rules dont apply to the nearest person in party anymore
so if you want to big boom lvl 40 mobs with a lvl 70 boom expect the mobs to drop adena like they were killed by a lvl 70 toon
